yes it's true.....

In search of tweens
Disney signs with creators of 'Lizzie,' 'Raven'

HOLLYWOOD -- Disney ChannelDisney Channel is hooking up with the creators of its biggest franchises -- "Lizzie McGuire""Lizzie McGuire" and "That's So Raven""That's So Raven" -- to produce more series for its core tween audience.

CablerCabler has teamed with "Lizzie" creator-exec producers Terri MinskyTerri Minsky and Stan Rogow for a half-hour "Lizzie" spinoff dubbed "Stevie Sanchez." Series follows the ups and downs of Lizzie's best friend's sister, Stephanie "Stevie""Stevie" Sanchez, and her Latino family.
Project reps the first TV offshoot of "Lizzie," which halted production in December 2002 soon after which series star Hilary DuffHilary Duff deemed it so yesterday. While the skeinskein still does solid ratings in repeats, "Stevie" would give Disney a fresh dose of "Lizzie"-related programming.

Meanwhile, Michael Poryes, who co-created "Raven" with Susan Sherman, is working on "Hannah Montana," a half-hour revolving around a pint-sized pop star who has an alternate identity in order continue living life as a "normal kid."

Pilots for both projects are set to begin production in January. Casting is under way, with both out to directors.
Minsky, who previously served as showrunnershowrunner and execexec producer of the ABC laffer "Less Than Perfect," penned the pilot for "Stevie." Minsky and Rogow will exec produce.

"Stevie" will focus on the 12-year-old character, first introduced in "Lizzie" via her older sister Miranda (played by Lalaine), who often feels like an outsider in her own family. Stevie's internal thoughts will be articulated by an animated alter ego.

When "Lizzie" launched in January 2001, it turned Disney Channel into a major player among the kids cablers, upping it the No. 1 programmer for young girls. Series launched Duff's career.
"Raven" is the web's top-rated series, leading the kids, boys and girls 2-11 and 9-14 demos.
Both shows, which air in 40 countries outside of the U.S., have reaped boffoboffo revenue from soundtracks, book series and videogames. There was also a "Lizzie McGuire" featurefeature film; a "Raven" clothing line will bowbow soon.

Minsky recently penned a half-hour comedy for Sarah Timberman's 25C Prods. (Daily Variety, Nov. 1), which is being shopped to networks. She created "The Geena Davis Show" and has written for "Sex and the City""Sex And The City" and "Central Park West."
Rogow's credits include the series "State of Grace," "Nowhere Man," "Middle Ages" and "Fame."
Poryes was a co-exec producer on "Veronica's Closet" and a producer on "Cybill." Writing credits include "The Facts of Life" and "Who's the Boss?"

from variety....

I guess it's better than loosing an entire audience, they'll get SOME ratings for it's premiere. If it goes into full production...Which it probably will...

If they have to spin off Lizzie Maguire, I'd rather see Matt get his own show, with Lizzie being explained as having gone off to college. At least he's a more familiar character.

So let me get this straight... they're making a spin-off centered around Miranda's little sister? What? No familiar actors were available to handle their own spin-offs? Lalaine not willing to come back as Miranda? Can't handle a Gordo series? I wasn't a bif fan of Lizzie McGuire (I watched it on weekends if nothing else was on), but even I feel a little insulted.

I'll let the Hannah Montana series slide by completely. I won't watch it (even out of "nothing's on TV" deperation), so I have no need to complain.

So let me get this straight... they're making a spin-off centered around Miranda's little sister? What?Yeah, seems like a horrible rip to me. I liked Lizzie McGuire, so this spin-off really seems like a stretch to me.

And the other, Hannah Montana... another one that makes me ask, why?

i guess when you loose BME (production company of 'even stevens' and 'that's so raven') to Nickelodeon's 'The N'... you have to dig up whatever you can..

and i don't understand how or why disney let 'Darcy's Wild Life' go to DiscoveryKids, as it is basicly Lizzie Meets The Farm or Green Acres for tweens...lol

They're making a Latino version of LM, the most STUPID show to 'grace' Disney Channel, and it features Miranda's sister. And, big surprise, there's gonna be a cartoon alter-ego.

:crying: I don't like DC anymore.

:crying: I don't like DC anymore. Is it an actual 'latino' version of Lizzie McGuire, or you're just saying that because Miranda was spanish? I actually didn't have a problem with LM, and thought there were worse things to appear on Disney. Hillary Duff had the acting ability to carry the show, not to mention she's hot (and I can say that because I'm only 17, hah).

I'd rather have either a Matt or Gordo spinoff, not some random character whose name was probably drawn out of a hat.

I mean come on.. Lizzie itself wasn't too bad, but the whole idea is just yet another rehash..

but as for the Gordo or Matt Idea, that's something I could Go for..(Minus the Animated Character)....
