A word of warning: if the problem mentioned in this one post (http://forums.goldenagecartoons.com/showthread.php?t=1004) at the GAC forums happens on more discs, then there's a possibility that the first disc, rather than having Bugs Bunny cartoons, will instead contain "Mars Attacks!" instead.

HAH! That's hysterical. And he really should have kept it; that's the "Upside-Down Airplane" of DVDs.

It is not one of the worst movies, that movie was just plain funny and stupid.

Anyway, how the hell did that happen? Is that even physically possible?

Well, I haven't had the chance to actually watch much yet, beyond just checking to see that all 4 discs work; and I probably won't have time for a while (out of town business trip coming up this week). But I'm sure it won't disappoint. I can make one small observation at this point: I like the more "classic" Bugs artwork that they went with on the front cover of this volume.

Whew... just checked all four discs and that stupid Mars Attacks! error is nowhere to be seen. Thank goodness. :)

I'll post a review once I get done watching everything... which will be a while yet. ;)

For those that don't visit GAC very often (like me... ;) ), I should probably let you know that John K. makes an appearance on Disc 3, discussing Bob Clampett. He talks about the differences between Jones's and Clampett's toons: Jones usually has formula to his cartoons (i.e. Daffy is always destined to lose in Bugs vs. Daffy ones, or any Wile E. Coyote short), while Clampett's are more unpredictable. He also brings up the fact that Clampett cartoons are amazing to watch in slow motion, and that a lot of effort was made for each and every frame. Like or hate John K., I must say he makes some good points. But that still doesn't diminish my love for Jones shorts- some of the appeal is in the repetitiveness. ;)

Anyway, I've watched a good portion of the 4 discs now and it's really a good collection. I was particularly fond of "The Dover Boys" (unique animation for the time and good characterizations/exaggerations), "Porky in Wackyland" (even after all these years, it's still zany), "The Great Piggy Bank Robbery" (Clampett does GREAT work here), "Hollywood Steps Out" (a great collection of caricatures from the '30s/'40s), and "The Three Little Bops" (amazing I still remember the jazzy tunes years later!).

The special features aren't as good as Volume 1, though. We get a 50th Anniversary piece which is mostly fluff (a few interviews with Jones and Frieling, which helps a bit), the new Looney Tunes short "Daffy Duck For President" is bland, and there isn't as a comprehensive of documentary as the 1 1/2 hour one from Golden Collection Vol. 1. Still, there's also plenty of good stuff here, like the many commentaries, the aforementioned 20 minute featurette on Bob Clampett, and the intros/sequences for the TV shows. Well worth the $50. :)

Can you tell me if the 50th Anniversary Special is the one where they mention "The Warner staff is currently working on Tiny Toon Adventures!", there's a phony origin story told by this greasy plumber, and there's a scene where a "The Wizard"-age Fred Savage talks about his memories of a Bugs Bunny lunchbox? 'Cause I taped over that one a long time ago and I'd like to see it again.

That 50th Anniversary special was made in 1985 or 1986, so no, there was no mention of Tiny Toons or Fred Savage. ;)
