chapter2
scare in the tower

Beast Boy decided that to build the feel of terror, they should watch a scary movie. It was the scariest movie that they had ever seen. Each Titan screamed at least once, but their visitor was quiet throughout the entire movie. Raven was the only one that noticed this but she didn't say anything. When the movie was over, everyone was too terrified to even move. Beast Boy broke the silence. "Alright, I think it is time for Mister Scare Your Brains Out to show his terrifying thing." "Yeah, let's see what you can do!" Gut got up slowly, as if a trance, and stood in front of the tv with his head down. He seemed to be muttering something under his breath. The Titans were confused at this strange behavior. "Dude, what are you doing?" Suddenly Gut's head shot up with his hair covering his eyes. So you want to know what I can do?" He said. His voice was deeper and had a cold edge that sent a shiver down everyones' back, "Well I'll show you what happens when you meet a cursed person." Suddenly, hair moved out of the way of his right eye. Everyone gasped. Gut's right eye was looked the same as a raven's. "I think it's time to show you his powers!" "But he said that he didn't have powers?" Raven said. "Oh he doesn't....there mine now." The boy said. He muttered a few words and the lights went out. "Now it is time to feel the power of Nevermore!" He immediatly turned into a shadow. He looked just like himself just as a shadow with beady purple eyes. "Ahhhh! We're doomed!" Beast Boy yelled. "Titans, run!!!" Robin yelled. they all ran out, but Gut was right on their tail. He now was a shapeless shadow. The only thing that was the same was his head could be seen. His teeth were bared and his eyes were red as fire. He was hard on their tails. Right as he was about to catch them they ran into Raven's room and shut the door. Big mistake. Immediately Starfire began to freak. "What are we going to do? We are trapped in this creepy room and under pursuit by a shadow that used to be our friend but now is under the influence of a curse and..." "And what's wrong with that?" The voice of the cursed boy came from behind them. they all turned around to see Gut materialize from the floor. They all screamed and ran out of Raven's room. Every time they screamed the shadow seemed to get faster and every time they went into a different room, it found a scarier way to enter.
"Ohhhhh we're doomed we're doomed we're doomed!" Beast Boy exclaimed. "You know it," Gut said as he appeared behind them, but farther than usual. All of a sudden Raven started laughing. "Oh no. Raven's lost it." Cyborg said. "I thought she had lost it before," Beast Boy remarked. But then they saw why Raven had started laughing. the shadow had stopped moving. "Sreams make him stronger but laughter makes him weaker," Raven explained. "Titans, laugh!" Robin yelled. They all started to laugh. Gut had fallen to his knees and was holding his head. All of a sudden, a shroud erupted from his body and vanished. Gut was back to normal. Although he was unconcious, his raven eye was still open.

well they had to lift the curse somehow. I just didn't know who to make figure it out first, but it also showed something that you wouldn't normally see.

one thing to help unconfuse me:

start a new paragraph each time a new person starts talking.

chapter3
the shadow powers

Gut woke up in a dark room. At first he tried to move, but he was strapped to a table. This confused him.
"I can just use my powers to get out of this," he thought to himself. He turned into a shadow. he flattened himself and left the table and became solid again. As soon as the straps hit the table, he found out what the straps were for.
The doors opened and the Titans entered. The straps set off an alarm.
"Is he...normal?" Starfire asked.
"Yeah," Gut replied, "and seeing that all of you are normal, I guess that you lifted the curse."
"You bet we did!" Beast Boy said rudely. "You scared the heck out of us!"
"So, what did the curse mean when it said, 'It's time to feel the power of Nevermore'?" Raven asked.
"Well," Gut said hesitantly, "It's my real name."
The Titans were full of questions.
"Was your eye changed by the curse?" Cy asked.
"No, I was born that way."
"Who put a curse on you?" Beast Boy asked.
"I'm not sure," Nevermore said obviously troubled, "I thought I had defeated him years ago."
"Who?" Star asked impatiently.
"Huh? Oh, no one," Nevermore said absentmindedly, "I think I'll go home now."
"We can drop you off," Robin offered, "Where do you live?"
"In an alley downtown, just drop me off in the park."
"Why?" Beast Boy asked, "You could stay with us and be a Titan."
"Yeah! You'd be a good edition," Cy added.
"How about training with us?" Robin asked.
"Why not?" Nevermore answered.

After seeing the rest of the Titans do the obsticle course, Nevermore decided to try it. He got to the start and the count down started. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, "Begin!" Robin shouted. Nevermore starded running. Suddenly, iron fists began popping out of the ground. Nevermore quickly used his shadow powers to turn into a shadow and skim accross the iron surfaces of the fists. Next, a bunch of disk lauchers popped up and started shooting exploding disks. Nevermore started muttering some words and held up his hands. Right when the disks hit his hands he stopped muttering. Booooooooooom!!!!!
There was a huge explosion. As soon as the dust settled, the saw Nevermore standing there unharmed. He immediatly took off only to find himself falling into what seemed to be a bottomless pit. When he didn't escape the pit, all the Titans gathered around to see what had happened. When they looked into the pit, they heard a beeping noise. They turned around, and to their amazement, they saw Nevermore standing at the finish in his shadow form.
"What're you lookin' at?" Nevermore said mockingly.
"Dude, how'd you do that?" Beast Boy said in amazement.
"All I had to do was turn into a shadow," Nevermore said as if it was no big deal, "I used to do it all the time."
"You used to?" Raven asked.
"I haven't used my powers for a few years." Nevermore said.
Robin was about to ask more questions when his communicator started beeping. "Titans, trouble!"

this chapter was pretty good, but would the titans really be that hasty in accepting nevermore? escpecially after he scared the hell outta them? otherwise good job.

it's only been an hour, most of the time you only get a post a day.

And there's no rush, slow down and enjoy it. Also, it gives you more time to work on your chapters to make them better.

*SHAMLESS PLUG TIME!*
Go try and read my fic, it's in my sig. It's long and requires a lot of time to read, but everyone who tried it liked it. Your character basically joined the titans in the exact same way mine did, but I wrote like 5 pages about it. It's a great example of how simply adding details can make chapters much longer, and usually better. You might learn a few tricks (unless you think learning only belongs in schools:sweat: )

Okay I'll try to make my chapters longer. (sits and concentrates for a moment) all right here goes

chapter 4
The spellcaster

The Titans rushed to the control center to see what the trouble was.
"What's going on!?!" Nevermore asked as he entered.
"It's Cinderblock," Robin said, "he's at the jail."

Cinderblock had was a block away from the jail. He was walking slowly and then stoped. He heard the voice in his head again. "Go to the jail and stop a good distance away. If you don't get caught......get Plasmus." Cinderblock was following his master's orders exaclty. He was standing there for at least an hour when he heard a crash in an alley.
"Shhhhh!" all the Titans told Beast Boy to try to keep it down. He had just crashed into a trash can. While he was getting out of the trash, he saw a tall shadow farther down the alley. Beast Boy ran toward the person, but the shadow vanished. He was so confused that he forgot that he was still running and he ran right into the wall.
Nevermore turned around, "What are you doing?" he whispered.
"Uhhhhh, nothing." Beast Boy said guiltily.
"Well whatever you're doing, try to keep it down," Raven said with an emotionless tone.
They looked around the corner of the alley only to see Cinderblock standing in the middle of the road.
"Who's that?" Nevermore asked.
"Cinderblock, he's one of our regular enemies," Robin explained.
"Why is he standing there?" Starfire asked.
"I don't know, but we're about to find out," Robin said. "Titans, go!"
They all jumped out of the alley, but Cinderblock was ready. Before Beast Boy had the chance to transform into an animal, Cinderblock had hit him right back into the trash can he had crashed into earlier. Starfire had attacked from behind but for some reason, it didn't seem to harm him the least bit. Cinderblock quickly turned around and grabbed Starfire. Before she could even blink, she had flown right into the trash can right next to Beast Boy.
Cyborg was amazed and perplexed. "What the heck? He's faster than he ever was before!"
"And stronger." Cinderblock had Robin in his clutches. Cinderblock was holding him tighter and tighter, making it harder for him to breath.
"He's gonna blow!!!!" Beast Boy yelled putting the lid on his trash can.
"Azarath Metrion Zynthos!" Raven yelled. Suddenly, the trash can Beast Boy was hiding in was covered in black energy. I lifted of the ground and flew at Cinderblock's hands. At first, Beast Boy thought it was just his imagination, but before he hit Cinderblock he looked out of the trash can to see Cinderblock. He covered his eyes and gulped, bracing himself for impact. The trash can hit Cinderblock so hard that he let go of Robin. The trash can was completely destroyed and Beast Boy went flying straight up. Before Robin could get up Cinderblock was upon him. He was about to kick him when Beast Boy fell on Robin. Cinderblocks kick hit both of them. They flew about sixty yards before they hit the ground with a sickening thud. Cinder block advanced towards Raven. Before he hit her, Raven brought up a shield of darkness. This didn't help at all. Cinderblock's blow was so strong that it went right through the sheild and sent her flying. Cyborg jumped at him intending to punch Cinderblock, but he used his enhanced speed to dodge the attack and he caught Cy in midair. Cinderblock threw him with persice accuracy. As Robin and Beast Boy were recovering from there fall they looked up and saw Cyborg falling. They tried to move but it was too late. Cyborg fell right on them. Noone could move because Cyborg was out cold. Suddenly, Nevermore appeared behind Cinderblock and launched his attack. Too late. Cinderblock already knew he was there and stepped to one side. Nevermore ran right past him and Cinderblock caught him from behind. He picked Nevermore up and slammed him into the ground. No matter, Nevermore got right back up. Cinderblock was charging at him. Nevermore knew he had to act quickly.
He quietly muttered under his breath, "You shall move nevermore!" At this moment, he raised his hands and at the same time, Cinderblock punched him square in the hand. Nevermore skidded a good twenty yards before stopping. He stood absolutely still in a heroic pose. Then his fase showed pain, "Yeowch!" He shook his hand vigorously, "My hands are burning, does he always punch that hard?" By now all the Titans had recovered.
"Not normally, but really close Robin said. Now all their attention had been directed to Cinderblock.
"Titans, ready," Robin said. They all prepared for an attack from Cinderblock. All exept for Nevermore.
"Ummm, why isn't he moving?" Beast Boy asked, putting down his guard.
"Because I put a spell on him," Nevermore explained, "But it's only temporary, so we had better confine him and soon."
"But with his strength, he would just breack his cell, would he not?" Star asked.
"Not for long," Nevermore approached Cinderblock and placed a hand on him. "Be still and silent, the spell on you is about to be broken, return your speed and strength to wich you have recieved!" With a glow of his raven eye wich was now visible, Cinderblock seemed to get tired. He could now move but he was also weakened.
"Titans, go!" Robin yelled. This time Cinderblock wasn't fast enough. Starfire and Cyborg were blasting him with all they had. Raven used her powers to lift him off the ground and then slammed him to the ground. While Cinderblock was stunned, Beast Boy turned into and eagle and flew over him only to change into a brontosaurus and slamming Cinderblock even deeper into the ground. Robin threw an exploding disk, wich knocked Cinderblock out of his hole. Lastly, Nevermore used a spell to make a chain out of rubble to tie Cinderblock in. Cinderblock had been defeated.
"Awsome!" Beast Boy exclaimed.
"Since when can you cast spells?" Cyborg asked
"They don't last long and I can use them only once a day, but I have been able to use them all my life" Nevermore explained. Although Robin was still suspicious of him, he offered Nevermore the chance to become a Teen Titan.
"Really? Even after I nearly destroyed you or make disconfigured, you're still giving me a chance?" Nevermore said in disbelief.
"Sure," Cy said, "We need someone with talent like your's."
"Wow. How can I turn down an offer like this? I'll join your team."
"Well then, here you go," Raven said handing him a communicator, "Welcome to the Teen Titans."

Definetly improving as it goes along. The first two chapters were short, confusing, and hard to read (to tight on the space). Three was an improvement, and four is even better. You still need to work on making it physically easy to read. Some more tips -

1) If you are using Word, Shift+F7 brings up the thesaurus on the word you have selected. Use this all the time. Eventually, the words will just flow naturally.
2) Think before you write. Put on a piece of paper what the goal of the chapter is (where will it end) and what points you want to hit in the meantime. After you've written it, go back over the list and see how you did. Eventually, you won't need this - I just write a sentence summary for each chapter. This way you won't forget your plot.
3) Read other's stories on this forum. I'll recomend Perfect Vision by Kregor8 (yes, I'm so humble), "'nuther Teen Titans fic" by Reid (the title is actually Black and White), Change Isn't Allways a Bad Thing by Rae, All For Nothing by Rrarbecy, End of Tomorrow by Presure Cooker, and of course Vanishing Act by Lord Welshi. If you only have time to read one of these, read Lord Welshi's. If you can read two, I'd be flattered if the second was mine...but all these others are not only as good and better, but further into their respective stories.

Keep writting and don't give out. You have good ideas, just not the skills to bring them out yet. These will come with writing - even from chapter one to chapter four was a huge improvement. But the most importaint thing to do is just write.

thanx for the compliments:D . And thanx for the advise. I read vanishing act before I signed up actually....It was pretty good, but there were some parts I didn't like, but still very good.

Well I got to go, I've got a school dance to go to soon and I'm going to hang with my friends. I'll have all day tomorrow to post though.

All right, it's 12:00 and I just got back and I'm ready to go. so here's the next chapter. I've already thought of the whole idea for this one.

Chapter 5
Shield of a thousand screams

When the Titans and there new member got back to the tower, they celebrated with pizza. It took a while for them to finally order the pizza, but they finally got it. Robin had black olives and mushrooms on his section, Cyborg had double pepperoni, Raven had garlic, Beast Boy had absolutely no cheese and had a bunch of vegetables on it, Starfire had bananas, pickles and mint frosting on hers,(ewwwww :( .) and Nevermore had pepperoni under and on top of the cheese and it was laid on so thick it made Beast Boy sick just thinking about it.

After the pizza was eaten, the Titans led Nevermore to his room. It was completely empty.

"Since we do not exactly know what you are in to," Starfire started, "we decided to let you decorate your own room."

With a big grin on his face Nevermore thanked them and immediately went to work.

It was an eventless week in Jump city. The Titans were all bored because there had not been a single crime since they faced Cinderblock. As Beast Boy was walking down the hall to the kitchen to make some tofu eggs for breakfast, (yuck!) he walked past Nevermore's room. Suddenly Nevermore burst out of his room followed by an icy cold mist the could chill one's very soul. Nevermore didn't seem to mind the mist.

He nodded at Beast Boy and said, "Good morning. Lovely day, isn't it?" and then he walked away without another word.

Beast Boy was curious about what Nevermore's room looked like, and eventually, his curiosity got the best of him. He tried to open the door but it wouldn't open. The security system was tight. Beast Boy thought for a moment, and finally came to a solution. He turned into an ameba, and entered the nearest ventalation shaft. He went through the vent right into Nevermore's room.

"Hah!" Beast Boy thought to himself, "I've outsmarted Nevermore and his security."

Beast Boy looked around the room. It was very cold and very dark. He searched the walls for a light switch. He found one! He flipped the switch, but the lights didn't come on. Instead, it got a bit warmer. He turned of an air conditioner.

"No matter," Beast Boy thought to himself, "It's got to be here somewhere." He searched all the walls only to find nothing. He went to the middle of the room to see if there was something to pull to turn on the lights. There was no switch. Suddenly he noticed something. There was a light on, but it only illuminated the bed.

"Oh well," Beast Boy said to himself, "I'll just come back later." But as he turned around he froze. He saw something wich struck him with terror. There was a shield on the wall, just like any other, except this shield had a special pattern on it.

It was a picture of a man screaming, but it wasn't a scream of terror that his face showed, no, it was a face that is made when you see someone that you are very close to, someone you can't live without, is killed right in front of your very eyes.

All of a sudden, Beast Boy started to heard something. At first it was very faint, but it got louder and louder. Beast Boy suddenly knew what he was hearing. It was the sound of screaming. The same scream that is made when someone sees someone that they are very close to, someone that they couldn't live without, is killed before their very eyes.

Beast Boy couldn't move, couldn't stop staring into the eyes of the tortured man. Every moment longer that Beast Boy stared at the shield, the louder the screams. Every second, it seemed that there were more and more people screaming.

"I can't take it anymore!"Beast Boy yelled as he ran for the door. The sound getting louder and louder every second. He didn't outsmart Nevermore after all. He tore down the halls to his room. He closed the door and stuffed socks into his ears. the noise just kept getting louder. He hid his head under his blanket. He heard more and more tortured screams. He hid under his pillow. He just couldn't hide from the noise. He desperatly looked for something to get rid of the noise, but found nothing. Now there must have been at least a thousand screams ringing in his ears. He couldn't take it anymore. With that he let out his own scream and passed out.

Beast Boy was having a strange dream. He saw six shadowed figures surrounded by a whole army of what appeared to be Slade's robots. How could this be? Slade was dead. Instantly there was a flash, and all the robots were destroyed while the six shadowed figures still stood standing. All of a sudden the picture was fading into darkness and a man could be visible. He was wearing blood red cloak with no hood. He had brown hair and completely black eyes. He was wearing an evil grin as the six figures appeared. The next thing Beast Boy saw was Nevermore on his knees holding his head. He appeared to be in great pain even though there was no sign of injury on his body. Suddenly he heard the screams he had heard earlier. He woke up at this instant.

He found himself on the couch in the control room.

"Woah, how did I get here?" Beast Boy asked, holding his throbbing head. He quickly decided not to tell the others of the dream he had.

"Nevermore found you," Raven said emotionlessly, "He told us to tell you that he will be on the roof if you want to see him."

"Thanks," Beast Boy said as he got up to go see Nevermore, "I'll go talk to him."

Nevermore was just standing on the roof with his eyes closed, looking to the north, when Beast Boy got out on the roof.

"So," Nevermore said obviously knowing that Beast Boy was going to ask some questions, "What do you want to know?"

Nevermore knew Beast Boy was going to ask questions, but he didn't count on Beast Boy slamming him against the wall.

"What was that shield in your room?" Beast Boy asked sternly, with a cold edge in his voice, "And why did I hear screams?"

Nevermore didn't hesitate in answering both his questions, "The shield you saw is a cursed shield known as the Shield of a Thousand Screams. You see, I was once a traveler, but I didn't just travel on Earth, no, I would journey to other planets to. One time I arrived at a planet in a middle of a war. I wanted to help but the only thing that they could give me is the shield." At this point, Beast Boy let go of Nevermore, and he continued. "Since the shield was cursed, I used one of my spells to keep its curse from working on me. I went into battle the next day. I was out in front of the defending army with only my shield. As soon as the enemy laid eyes on the shield, the ran as far as they could and left the planet, never to return. The curse only works on living things, not robots. It makes them hear screams until they black out or go insane."

"But I thought that your spells only work for a short amount of time?" Beast Boy said.

"Well I have a few spells that work until I lift them." Nevermore answered, "I have only used them twice before."

"So," Beast Boy started, knowing that Nevermore didn't want to talk about it anymore, "I'm not in trouble for going into your room?"

"What are you crazy?" Nevermore said with an evil smile on his face. "You're not getting off that easy."

"I thought so," Beast Boy said in a disappointed tone, "so what are you going to do to me?'

"You'll know what it is as soon as it happens," Nevermore said with a grin still plastered on his face.

Wow. I am amazed at how quickly you've improved. Let me point out two or three things I really liked, and one I didn't.

The way you describe the screams and Beast Boy's reaction is beautiful. That terror is hard to capture on a page. It's not quite perfect (hey, none of us are) but you made me feel what was going on. Good - show not tell is the key.

Also, the end part,
"So," Beast Boy started, knowing that Nevermore didn't want to talk about it anymore, "I'm not in trouble for going into your room?"

"What are you crazy?" Nevermore said with an evil smile on his face. "You're not getting off that easy."

I love this. It raps up the chapter so well, to end it on a lighter note and yet still have us going "Huh? What's next."

The thing I didn't like is this:
It was a picture...that is made when you see someone that you are very close to, someone you can't live without, is killed right in front of your very eyes.
and
The same...that is made when someone sees someone that they are very close to, someone that they couldn't live without, is killed before their very eyes.

You used the practically same term in two paragraphs that immediatelly follow eachother. Sometimes this technique works well, here I think a bit of variation would have been better.

Anyway, I'm really delighted to see how much better you've gotten since chapter one.
I'm hanging for the 6th instalment...

Chapter 6
Beast Boy Gets Pranked

After Beast Boy went into Nevermore's room, he was extra cautious. When he entered a room, he would check every nook and cranny for Nevermore or a prank he might have waiting. When he took a shower, he would thoroughly check his shampoo. He was so cautious that he even put an alarm system in his room that would wake him up if anyone would enter.

At first the Titans were worried.

"Is Beast Boy all right?" Star asked, " He is acting strange."

"You bet he is!" Cyborg exclaimed with tears streaming down his eyes, "He took away my waffles because he thought that they were bombs!"

"Well," Raven started, "he started acting that way after his chat with Nevermore."

Nevermore walked in the room closely followed Beast Boy who was eying him strangely.

When Beast Boy left to check his shampoo for the tenth time that day Robin and the other Titans talked to Nevermore.

"What did you do to him?" Cy asked.

"Well, I just told him that I'd get back at him for going into my room," Nevermore said in a confused tone, "I didn't know he'd take it this seriously."

"Well prank him quick before we kill him," Raven said with a hint of irratation in her voice.

Nevermore did this as soon as possible. Since Beast Boy wanted to find a way to protect himself, he asked Nevermore what would keep him away. Nevermore was surprised that Beast boy would just walk up to him and ask that but he gave him a list of things anyway. (huh?)

The next day, all the Titans (except for Beast Boy who was checking his laundry to see if anything was wrong with them) were in the control room.

"All right, Beast Boy is going to try to do something to stop me from pranking me anytime now. Last night I gave him a fake list of ways to stop me so don't interfere!" Nevermore explained with a stern tone.

All the Titans nodded knowingly. Beast Boy walked in right after that. He was holding something behind his back.

"Good morning," Nevermore said with a grin on his face, "What do you have there?"

Without warning, Beast Boy pulled out a bucket of water and splashed Nevermore with water. Nevermore fell with a thud and didn't move at all. The Titans were startled. Cyborg immediatly ran to Nevermore to feel his pulse.

"He's.....dead!" Cy exclaimed.

Beast Boy was panicing, he didn't know what to do. "I didn't mean to." Beast Boy said, "I thought it would just shake him up."

Suddenly a shadow rose from Nevermore's body. His eyes were blazing red, a black steam was emanated from all over his body, and his voice was as cold as winter.

"Beast Boy, you have killed me," the apparition stated, "Now you will pay!"

With a gasp of horror from Beast Boy, the shadow charged at him. Beast Boy tried to run but he wasn't fast enough. He was envoloped in shadow and all went black around him. Suddenly the shadow took Beast Boy away. The Titans were in shock. Suddenly Nevermore got up.

"What did you do to him!?!" Robin said slamming Nevermore into the wall, "and where did you take him?"

"oomph! It's just a prank!" Nevermore gasped desperately for air, "I just made him pass out. He'll wake up thinking that it was a bad dream any second now."

"I'll go check, just to make sure" Raven said.

Raven was walking through the hallways of the tremendous tower. She was walking towards the door when she had a vision. It wasn't a normal vision, no, it was just glimpses. At the same time Beast Boy was having the same dream. Again, there were shadows surrounded by an army of Slade's robots and a large flash, destroying all the robots, but leaving the six people unharmed. Again the mysterious man appeared, but this time, he was in an alley. Then Beast Boy saw himself running towards him. It was the shadow in the alley when they fought Cinderblock! Suddenly the other Titans showed up, but they were in another place. And again Beast Boy saw Nevermore falling to the ground, clutching his head as if he were in great pain. Raven saw no more, but Beast Boy had another dream. In this dream, Nevermore told Beast Boy of many things that could harm him. Then he saw himself throwing water at Nevermore, and his ghost atting him. It all seemed so real. Suddenly Beast Boy awoke. He exited his room at the same time Raven used her powers to go into Beast Boy's room. Neither of them saw each other. Raven realized that Beast Boy had awoken and was heading for the control room.

Nevermore was standing near the door when Beast Boy entered.

"Good morning," Nevermore said, nodding at Beast Boy.

"Uhhh, yeah," Beast Boy said moving backing away from Nevermore, "Same to you to." Beast Boy went over to Robin and related his dream to him. Behind him, Star and Cyborg were trying as hard as they could to keep themselves from laughing. Suddenly Cy couldn't hold it anymore and he burst out laughing, causing Robin and Star to laugh too.

"Wait a second," Beast Boy said, turning to face Nevermore, "This was your pay back, wasn't it?"

"You bet," Nevermore said.

"Well at least it's over, but how'd you do it?" Beast Boy asked.

"I can control shadows," Nevermore started, "That also includes nightmares too."

Raven had just walked in when Robin addressed Nevermore, "Well, while you're at it, tell us more about yourself."

"Okay, let's get started," Nevermore said. And all the Titans gathered around to hear his tale.

Wow. You actually wrote a chapter that I thought was hilarious. That's quite an accomplishment. The shampoo checking is great, especially after Cy turning him brown and Crow turning him yellow (Crowgirl's fic). So I found the description of BB to be believable.

Like I've said before, you've really spruced up your writing style - it is enjoyable to read your stuff now. So that's quite a plus. I'll be hanging around for chapter seven - I'm interested to see how you'll bring out the mysterious parts of Nevermore.

Well I am going to post my next chapter so here it is.

Chapter Seven
Old Friends, Old Enemies

Nevermore started his tale. "It was many years ago, before I knew I had powers and before the Teen Titans had formed. I was a normal kid. I went to school, I had friends, and I had a family. The only thing was that I never fit in with anyone. Sure I had friends, but I couldn't be myself around them, I couldn't be myself around anyone. I was a loner, with noone to talk to and noone to understand me. One day, after school, I decided to take the long way home. It was a path surrounded by forest. Noone used this road anymore so I usually took it to be alone. This day, I took the long way because there were many clouds blocking the sun and there was a strong wind in from the west. I would usually talk to myself on this path. I didn't know if it was because I was lonely or if it was because I always thought that someone was listening. Whatever it was I didn't talk today. Someone was following me. I walked slower and when he walked to close, I jumped on him. We fought until I pinned him to the ground. Then I realized that this person was a girl. I asked her why she was following my and she said that it was because she was a loner and was looking for a place to fit in. I asked her why she didn't fit in and she said that it was because she noone understood her. Now if you're wondering what her name was, it was Raven."

"What!?!" Cyborg and Beast Boy yelled in unison.

"You knew Raven this whole time?" Robin asked.

"Of course," Raven said, "You think that I would bring a stanger to the Tower?"

"Ahem!" Nevermore got there attention, "Let me finish the story."

All the Titans had quieted down and gave their attention to Nevermore.

"As I had just said, her name was Raven. I told her why I was taking this particular path. Needless to say we got along pretty well. She would meet me after school and we would hang out. We would exchange scary stories, showed eachother our favorite places, and tell eachother more about ourselves. I think that I'll let Raven tell you the next part."

Raven started telling the story, "We were probably the best of friends and we made a great team, but one day, that all changed. I went to meet him after school one day, but he didn't show up. I asked his parents where he had gone and they said that he had left to find out more about himself and that he may never return to that town again. That's all I know."

"Where did you go, Nevermore, and what did you learn about yourself?"
Starfire asked. But before Nevermore had a chance to explain, the alarm went off

"Titans, trouble!" Robin shouted.

Cinderblock was trying to get Plasmus again but the Titans had cut him off.

"You never learn do you," Robin said. With that Cinderblock attacked.

"Titans, go," Robin said.

Cyborg and Starfire were blasting Cinderblock with everything they had. Robin was throwing exploding disks. Raven was throwing bricks at him. Nevermore and Beast Boy went in for close range attacks. Nevermore distracted him while Beast Boy came up from behind in the form of a brontosaurus and hit Cinderblock with a mighty swing of his tail. Cinderblock was defeated.

All the Titans were glad that it went so fast, but Nevermore was concerned. It was too easy, and he thought something was up.

"Now that's what I'm talkin' about," Cyborg said happily. Suddenly Nevermore picked up a brick and threw it at him. Cyborg quickly dodged it. He was about to yell at Nevermore, but he heard a grunt from behind him. All the Titans turned around to see a strange sight.

It looked like a human with the skin of a snake. Instead of legs, he had a tail. He wad greenish brownish colered scales and yellow eyes. He had sharp fingernails and long fangs.

"We meet again, Nevermore," the creature said, "Do you remember me?" The snake person had a hiss to his voice. He sounded as you could imagine a snake would sound if one could talk.

"Sythe," Nevermore's voice was filled with anger, "I thought I had destroyed you a long time ago."

"Like you could ever defeat me?" Sythe said with a hint of sarcasm in his voice. He lunged at the Titans.

Robin took out his metal staff and swung at the attacker but Sythe cut through the staff with a single swing of his sharp claws. Then he punched Robin with such force that not only did it knock the breath out of him, but it also sent him flying. Cyborg was about to punch the snake, but Sythe sensed him and ducked in time and tripped him with a single sweep of his tail. Cyborg fell right on Raven and Starfire. The girls passed out because Cyborg fell on them and Cyborg passed out because he hit the ground with such force. Beast Boy was next. He transformed into an anaconda. He wrapped himself around Sythe, but Sythe bit Beast boy with his huge fangs and Beast Boy had to let go. Sythe's fangs weren't poisonous, so he slashed at Beast Boy until he passed out. Nevermore slammed Sythe with all the strength he could muster.

Sythe slid for a while but stopped himself and lunged at Nevermore. Nevermore used his powers to become a shadow. He disappeared into the ground and came up behind Sythe, but he seemed to know this trick and hit Nevermore with his tail. Nevermore stopped in midair and flew at Sythe and hit him into the ground. While Sythe was on the ground Nevermore hit him with a never ending series of punches. Sythe tried to get away, but Cyborg had him by the tail. He threw the snake high into the air, where he was greated by starbolts, exploding disks, and bricks. Sythe fell to the ground with a heavy thud and passed out. When he woke up he was in prison. He reached into his mouth and extracted a communicator. He opened it and a person hidden in shadow appeared on screen.

"Did you get Plassssmusssss." Sythe asked.

"Yes I did. Good work, you distracted them quite well," the man replied,

"Cinderblock got him while you were fighting. Soon I will reveal myself to the Titans, and our old friend Nevermore." With that the screen went blank.

SUGGESTION TIME!
1.) I didn't like the way Nevermore exited the flashback. "He left town and may never return again"? A bit too cliche. Great idea tho.
2.) You repeated the same words and phrases-long way, lonely etc. If you use synonyms it just sounds better.
3.) [from last chap] shadow control gives him nightmare control? I didn't think they were related.
4.) the transitions were jumpy or nonexistant. The alarm went off, and next thing the titans were at the prison.

But it was a really good chapter. Oh, and it's spelled Scythe, not Sythe.

Nice twist. Not quite what I expected, but it does make Raven seem a bit more in character.

I agree with Reid about the transitions and repeated words. A thesaurus is great tool (even if you're not sure you spelled it right).

As to the nightmare control, it makes some sense. You rarely have nightmares in the broad daylight when everything is flowers and Silky. :p Nightmares come from terror, and terror lurks in the shadows. In "Fear Itself," this is why the lights go out and everyone is creeped out. That's about all I have to say now.

Oh yeah. I'll be promoting this fic for a while, because I think that more people reading it will be an encouragement and hopefully help develope your style. Overall, this fic gets a 6.5 on a 1 to 10 (ten being best, of course). I still like chapter 5 the best...:D

I'm suprised that so many people like my fanfic. (Yes it's spelled Sythe and yes he is half man, half snake.)

Chapter Eight
(Can't think of a title for this one)

As the Titans made there way back to the tower, the Robin asked a good question.

"It seemed like you and Sythe knew eachother," Robin asked, "Do you have any connection?"

"That's where I left off," Nevermore answered. "We go way back. I left my home because a man showed up with two strange jewels. They were a very dark shade of red and he told me that they could tell if someone had powers or not, and it turned out that I had powers. He then offered to train me in my powers. Since I had no idea what my powers were, I decided to let him help me. He held the jewels in one hand as tight as he could, and held his other hand to my right eye. Suddenly, something fell from my eye. It was pieces of skin. My right eye wasn't real. When he revealed my raven eye to me, I could use my powers. While he trained me, I met Sythe. We were always rivals and hated eachother. As I learned more about my powers, the easier it was to beat him." Nevermore paused for a second and started up again. "I also learned that while we were talking a robot army has surrounded us."

It was true. A huge army of what appeared to be Slade's robots had surrounded them.

"Why are they just standing there?" Starfire asked.

Suddenly the robots backed away. Then they parted to let something through. It was a giant purple blob with legs, arms, and 2 beady green eyes.

It was Plasmus.

"Another one of your usual villains I suppose," Nevermore said calmly.

"Yup," Beast Boy said.

"How do you beat this one?" Nevermore asked.

"Knock him out," Robin said.

By now Plasmus was upon them.

"Titans, go," Robin yelled and the Titans leaped into action.

Plasmus shot a big blob of ooze at Nevermore, but he dodged it with his powers and it hit Beast Boy. Beast Boy quickly recovered and turned into a tyrannasaurus rex to get out of the big mass of ooze. With a roar, he charged at Plasmus. There was a big explosion of ooze as Beast Boy hit Plasmus. Beast Boy was dazed but Plasmus immediatly regained form. Starfire hit him repeatedly with starbolts, creating many holes in him. Plasmus filled the holes in quickly and immediatly hit Star with more ooze. Raven, Cyborg, and Robin attacked Plasmus with anything that they could think of. Bricks, sonic blasts, and exploding disks hit him in different places. Plasmus decided that this was enough, and he pulled of a new move. It was like a self destruct and ooze went everywhere and hit all the Titans. Plasmus again regained form while the Titans were dealing with disgusting muck all over them.

"How did you defeat him in the past?" Nevermore asked.

"With a move that Cyborg and I call the Sonic Boom," Robin answered, "but we would need a distraction to pull it off on him."

"I have an idea, give me two bird-a-rangs," Nevermore said.

Robin gave Nevermore the bird-a-rangs, and as soon as he let go of the bird-a-rangs, Nevermore went into action. He charged at Plasmus as fast as he could, dodging all of Plamus' attacks. Before he hit Plasmus, Nevermore jumped into the ground with only a ripple of shadow surrounding the spot where he disappeared. They could still see Nevermore, but he was just a regular shadow on the ground. Plasmus followed the shadow, and when he was facing away from the Titans, Nevermore jumped out of the ground and slashed Plasmus numerously on his way up.

"Robin, Cyborg, now!" Nevermore yelled as he threw the bird-a-rangs at Plasmus.

The last thing Plasmus remembered was a loud bang, a big flash, and a heck of a lot of pain. Plasmus regained human form, and the robots but him into a container so he would stay asleep. Now that the Titans had defeated Plasmus, they had to defeat the robots. The knew how to deal with them.

"Raven, now!" Robin shouted as he threw a bomb into the air. Raven created a shield of black energy before the bomb exploded. There was a big flash. When the flash had faded, all the robots.....all except for one. The robot held up a hand signaling the Titans to stop. The Titans didn't move. The robot reached for his own face and took it off. A man appeared on the screen. Beast Boy and Raven recognized him immediatly from the vision and the dream.

"Hello, Nevermore. I see you're doing quite well.....for know." the man said.

"Derane," Nevermore replied with a cold tone, "I thought that I had seen the last of you."

"Nevermore," the man said with a false tone of shock in his voice, "I thought you knew me better.......I certainly knew you."

"Why are you back?" Nevermore said.

"To finally destroy you," the man said, "for the last time."

A map flew out of the robots hand and it short circuited.

"Nevermore," Star said with a hint of concern in her voice, "who was that?"

Nevermore turned around and answered, more pale than usual. "I think it's time I told you of my dark past."

Chapter Nine
Whose The Villain?

"When the man on the screen is my old arch enemy, Derane. He changed his name to that because it's short for derange. You know, horrably altering one's appearance. He named himself this because of his cruelty and power. He not only has immesurable strength, but he can also move extremely fast. When we faught Cinderblock, he was so strong and fast because Derane gave him some of his abilities. I wish that he had not gotten them back from my own spell. Well anyway. When I left to train, I was taught to be emotionless, feel no sympathy for my opponent, feel no joy to distract me, and feel no anger to betray him. My trainer was Derane." Nevermore explained.

The Titans didn't know what to think. They just stood there waiting for Nevermore to continue.

"Derane taught me to be a villain, and I went along with it. I was the most feared villain of my time. I was ruthless and inexplicably evil. I cast entire cities into shadow. Everyone feared me. Sythe was a villain too. He was also trained by Derane. Derane was smart to have done this because, if I ever got angry I would get angry at Sythe, not Derane. One day, as I was flying through a city I had conquered, I had finally felt sympathy on all the people I had harmed, and it was through this that I had gained a weakness, and the hatred for Derane. I had a tremendous battle with Derane and before I beat him, he put a curse on me, the one that you have broken. But now he is back, and I need to defeat him, but I had barely defeated him the first time and he surely has gotten stronger......I need your help." Nevermore said.

The Titans couldn't bear to look at him.

"We can't help you," Cy finally said.

"What? Why not?" Nevermore said, as if he had heard this before.

"You were our friend and now we know that you were once a villain," Starfire said.

Beast Boy could hardly speak he was so sad, "Just like.....Terra."

"Sorry, but we can't trust you anymore," Raven said.

Nevermore stared in disbelief. The only true friend he ever had in his life couldn't trust him. He just couldn't bear it. "Fine, I'll just defeat him on my own," He flew to Titans Tower to get his stuff......He was going to meet
Derane.

Derane was sitting in one of the piers at the docks. He was surrounded by cloaked minions, which were actually robots. He was very impatient. Nevermore had not shown up. He was about to give Nevermore another message, when all the cloaked robots fell.....all except for one.

"Aaah, Nevermore. I see you finally decided to come," Derane said with obvious pleasure in his voice.

The hooded figure put his hood down to reveal himself. "I've come and now it's time for you to leave," Nevermore hissed.

Derane got up, ready to fight. Nevermore was not afraid of him, he was trained not to be afraid of these kinds of enemies. Nevermore charged at his arch nemises as fast as he could. Derane threw a punch at Nevermore but he missed. He threw another punch at him and missed again. Nevermore had sidestepped the oncoming punches, but Derane swung at him and sent him flying and before Nevermore could do anything, Derane was upon him, hammering him with vicious powerful punches. Nevermore was already too weak to stand up. Derane carelessly kicked him, sending him flying to the other side of the room. Suddenly he heard a noise.

"Titans, go!" A boy with spiky black hair kicked him with a good amount of power.

Derane quickly got up. There was Nevermore and five other people. He knew he was outnumbered. But he knew that if he took out Nevermore first, the others wouldn't stand a chance.

"It's time to finish this Nevermore," Derane said. He threw something at Nevermore and he heard a familiar sound.

It was sceams, hundreds of them. Nevermore was immediatly on the ground holding his head, trying to block out the tormenting sound. Louder and louder it got. He couldn't get rid of it. He looked up to see his former teammates being defeated. He needed to help but he was too weak to help and besides, the screams were torturing him with the memories of the screams of little children and elderly people as he destroyed them and their families lives.

Suddenly, another sound came from within himself. It was the beating of a heart, a heart of justice.....a heart of a hero. He reached behind his cloak, his eyes burning red with hatred. Derane had already defeated the Titans and was heading for Nevermore. Nevermore quickly found what he was searching for. He pulled out the Shield of a Thousand Screams. He held it out in front of him and suddenly, all of the screams were absorbed into the shield. With a new sense of justice in his heart, he attacked Derane ruthlessly. He let out a furry of punchs and kicks. He countered every attack that Derane threw at him. Nevermore was unstoppable.

Nevermore decided that it was time that he defeated Derane once and for all. He quickly disappeared and became a shadow on the ground. When he was right in front of Derane, he jumped out of the ground and gave him a powerful uppercut, sending Derane straight into the air. Nevermore gave him a flurry of kicks and punches while keeping Derane in the air. Nevermore gave him a final spin kick and sent on flying.

Derane was unconcious.

Nevermore was panting. He had used up all his strength to defeat Derane. Knowing that the Titans would make sure that he would be sent to a good jail, Nevermore passed out.

He woke up in Titan's Tower. He was surrounded by all the Titans.

"You know," Nevermore started, "I never got to finish my story."

All the Titans merely smiled as Nevermore told them of how he gave the people that he had once harmed their lives back, how he saved many other planets from danger, and how he was rejected from each one for being a one-time-villain. When he was done, he was at full strength once again. The Titans had excepted him once again.

that was...strange. The way the titans expelled him, then took him back, just seemed knida out of place. It was well written, though. I did like it.

Also-I'm rather concerned that your new character is a little too powerful. He has completely won every single fight and never got a scratch, except for passing out once. Most people seem to fall into this trap; cause who wants a wussy character? Still, it is a good idea to bring to light some flaws, shortcomings and weaknesses of your character to show that he's human. If your still confused, go read my fic. (In my sig.) I basically show my character as the most incredibly powerful, destructive and capable warrior around, but I also show that he's very weak in certain aspects and somewhat vulnerable-a good balance. Thats my character in my avatar over there.

About the allmighty (Sp?) I don't know...I mean, he has been kicking butt, and been the one to win every fight, but isn't that what we're supposed to do? It's nice to see yuour self lose once in a while, but the hero never really LOSES. It's nice to have then get hurt once in a while.

i like the new chapter! i do agree that you should tell that Nevermore has weaknesses. everybody does! now that three people think you should tell Nevermore's weaknesses i sugest that you do it. my friend(not raven37) says that if you don't make a Raven/Nevermore relationship she/he will go on strike and not read your story. this person is not a WF member but still reads your fanfic

I did tell you his weakness, he can't take screams of sorrow, remember, I said that he was too weak to help because of the screams of those he had harmed. He does have other weaknesses too, but I'll get in to that later.

As for the Raven/Nevermore relationship, I CAN'T JUST START A CHAPTER WITH RAVEN FALLING FOR NEVERMORE RIGHT AWAY!!!!! A relationship takes time to build and if it's Raven, you need to have a real good reason.

P.S. I'll try to pull it off, and if your friend likes this fanfic so much, why doesn't she/he just sign up? She/he could post then. (and I'd get more posts on this fanfic.:evil: )

Nevermore - this is a Public Service Announcement
(And I'm going to be hated because of it)

Do NOT try to throw a Raven/Nevermore romance into this story at this point. It would simply be pandering to the masses and extending yourself beyond your own abilites and the limits intrinsic to your character. In other words - a Nevermore/Raven romance would neither be believable nor enjoyable to read.

This is not to say that it couldn't happen, but it would take quite a lot to get to the point where it could. Whether you choose to reach this point or not is up to you, but I wouldn't recommend it. Stick with the ultimate darkness. You're really starting to get up to speed on this plotline.

As for the superpowerful character, yeah, you do need to watch it there. I've seen some good fics messed up by making the created character godlike. This isn't usually a good idea. In fact, it never is. I don't think you've reached that point yet, but you're rolling toward the cliff and it's time to put on the brakes.

In chapter eight: I like the way you use the Sonic-Boom. Nice touch.
Chapter nine: That fact that the Titans don't want villans on their team is perfectly expected. The fact that they go to help their friend is also believable - they stand up for both Robin and Terra when they get into trouble. The speed that you twist this around though leaves a little to be desired. You're getting the transitions better than you were in chapters six and seven, but you haven't reached a level where you can ease off yet. It's my opinion that it's better to overwrite something than underwrite it. I could be wrong about this. A book you should read, that is quick and easy to get some tips from, is "The Elements of Style" by Strunk and White. You can probably find it at your liberary. It might help you out with that kind of stuff.

Problems not withstanding, I like this story a lot. I seem to have taken a personal intrest in where it goes (don't ask me why - when I get an answer from myself, I'll be sure to tell you), and I haven't been disapointed yet. You haven't reached the top of the mountain yet, but you certainly haven't fallen back down any.
Keep climbing and writing! I'll be here to read it...:D

Maybe it's just me, and I understand ur POV (Point of views) Raven and Kregor, but I think it would be interesting. It would get me hooked even more, but then again, I can see it turning bad. All up to You Nevermore.

NEways-Kregor isn't saying don't put in a relationship, he's saying don't just thorw one in. My char and Starfire are still just good friends in my fic, and it took me well over 15,000 words just for that. Basically; draw things out and explain everything.

I don't think that I would be able to pull off a Raven/Nevermore relationship. I have already come up with a sequal for this when I'm done but, I don't think that it would work in there. I did find a place to put the relationship in this fanfic though, but then I would have to completely rewrite the sequal. I'll still try, just not right now.

Oh yeah, here's the next chapter. It's not my best chapter, but I think that it is necessary to build intrest in this story. (Sorry if you think I'm doing the almighty thing again. I'm working on stoping it.)

Chapter Ten
A New Villain Arises

A raven was flying overhead when it spotted a large explosion coming from one of the docks. Knowing that it would be hard to spot because of its dark coloration, it flew to see what was happening.

There were at least sixty robots in the pier, each equiped with lasers. The Titans had been fighting for a while when one of the robots threw a bomb at Robin. Raven was nearby, and saw the bomb. She quickly used her powers to send the bomb right back, and before the bomb exploded, she used her powers to protect the Titans from the explosion that the raven had seen.

All the Titans were okay but Nevermore's arm had been exposed to the explosion, since he was the closest to the explosion had not been able to protect himself quickly enough......he preferred to use his powers to protect himself instead of other people having to help him.

Even though he was burnt, both he and the Titans knew that there was still work to do. Gizmo decided that he needed new help. Instead of fighting with Jinx and Mammoth, he was fighting with Plasmus and Mumbo.

"Titans, go!" Robin yelled.

Before any of the Titans could do anything, Nevermore had started charging at Gizmo. Gizmo was already intimidated by the raven eye that was visible on Nevermore's face, but he summed up the courage to fire a bunch of missiles at him. Nevermore protected himself with a new move.

He transformed only his arms into shadows and was slashing through the missiles. He was moving so fast that the missiles couldn't even explode anywhere near him. With an expert movement, he cut Gizmo's mechanical spider legs off and cut the machine on his back in to with out harming him.

Suddenly, Nevermore was greeted with a huge amount of purple ooze. He stood up, his visible raven eye glinting with rage as he carged at Plasmus. Plasmus was firing purple ooze at his enraged advisary hitting him each time, but Nevermore kept running no matter how many time he was hit. Plasmus realized that this wasn't the same person he had faught just a while ago. This even frightened Plasmus.

Nevermore jumped at Plasmus. Again he displayed a new move.

He turned into a shadow, but he looked like a bird. Nevermore flew at Plasmus, cutting his head off. He knew that Plasmus would just reattach his head, so while still in the shape of a bird, Nevermore slashed continually at Plasmus' head until he fainted from pain.

Nevermore landed and turned into a human once again. He turned to Mumbo.

Mumbo had never seen anything like this. Nevermore's raven eye made him look like a villain, but he was still a good guy. Suddenly, Nevermore ran toward him. Mumbo was too scared to react. Nevermore was upon him in a flash. He turned his arm into a shadow again and cut Mumbo's wand, then, he quickly got behind him and put him into a headlock.

Both the Titans and Mumbo were shocked. Nevermore had two fingers to Mumbo's throat. His fingers were shadows that acted like a razor sharp dagger.

Raven could see the anger in Nevermore's eyes and recognized it. She reacted quickly. She surrounded his arm in black crackling energy to stop him from slitting the pitiful man's throat. "Nevermore stop," she said emotionlessly.

Nevermore looked at Raven and then at the man that used to be Mumbo. He returned his fingers back to normal and Raven let go of his arm. Nevermore gave Mumbo a kick to the back that sent him sprawling to the Titans feet.

"Dude, what is your problem?" Beast Boy yelled.

Raven had an idea of what was wrong.

The silent raven had seen enough. It took off without a sound.

Nevermore stared at the cowering man as if he had just realized what he had done. He looked at his hands in shock and merely wispered, "I have no idea."

Later that night, the raven flew to an abondoned warehouse and perched on an open window sill. It stared into a black room, but it was not empty. There was a man inside, hidden in the darkness.

"I've been expecting you," the man said with a cold but evil tone, a smile spread across his face, "It's time."

hey! that's mean! by the way Plasmus is not purple he's more of a dark red-violet, just so you know. but that was cool!!!! :D what's with the raven? oh,you'll tell us in the next chapter right? make it soon,i have a four day weekend and i am looking forward to reading more fanfics.(mainly A Girl Called Crow and yours) Reid i will read yours soon,but i'm at my grandpa's house so i have to share the computer with him and my brother. maybe my grandma will let me use her laptop. :shrug:

I hate to sound repetitious, but you did say Sorry if you think I'm doing the almighty thing again. I'm working on stoping it.

Yea, he kinda seems invincible. I mean, taking down three of the titan's biggest villains by himself, with one move each? That's pretty powerful. If mumbo had done something like shot something outta his wand and knocked Nevermore down, it would seem more realistic. I mean, even if he got just a few bruises.

But it really was well written.

Some nice action here. As for the "All-mighty complex," you handelled it better than I expected. Nevermore is totally freaking out by the end, and he's not even sure what happened.
I've been enjoying the speed that this fic has come together. Not to much more to say now, but I'm sure eventually we'll see that Nevermore has one scale that he hasn't coated in jewels, and we'll see the black arrow that can take him down. (Tolkien, The Hobbit) Ok, got to go.

I knew that the last chapter had the almighty thing in it, but I needed to. Well here's the next chapter.

Chapter Eleven
The Raven Strikes at Midnight

The Titans were seeing the strangest thing that they had ever seen. They were called to a jewelry store to see a security tape from the night before.

This particular jewelry store had one of the finest security systems and it was robbed! When they saw the tape, they saw that it was no regular person...It was a raven! The Titans watched the tape slackjawed as they saw the raven fly with such grace and agility around every security system. It only stole a single red jewel, and then it flew off.

"Well, that's interesting," Raven said with her usual emotionless tone.

"Shows ya that animals are smarter than you think," Beast Boy said with a smile on his face.

"At least this one is," Nevermore said, "Look,right here." He paused the tape and zoomed in on the raven.

"What is that on the front of his head?" Star inquired.

There was a strange symbol on the raven's forehead. It was a swirling cloud that had steam rising from it. This obviosly showed that this was not a normal raven.

"Don't worry," Robin said, "if we find this raven, we'll catch it." There was an obvious tone of uncertainty in his voice. They had fought so many wierd villains before, but now they had to catch a raven? That's just wierd.

Late that night, the alarm went off at Titans Tower. There was trouble downtown.

"Titans, go!" Robin shouted for the millionth time.

They found themselves at another jewelry store. A mysterious intruder had broken through the security system, but before he could touch anything, a shadow appeared before him. It was Nevermore. Suddenly, all the other Titans appeared.

The intruder looked like a normal person, except his hair was floating and his eyes up could not be seen. He was dressed in a black suit and there was a smile on his face.

A dark blur past all the Titans. It was the raven.

It landed gently on the intruder's shoulder and dropped a red jewel into his hands.

"Titans, go!" Robin said.

As soon as he said this, the raven on the man's shoulder took off and flew at the Titans. All of the Titans let the raven through. (Even Nevermore let it through.) Then another blur ran past. It was the intruder, he was getting away. He didn't get far, Nevermore had cut him off.

Nevermore and the thief were circling eachother without speaking a single word. Nevermore charged. He threw a punch at his enemy, but it was caught by the man. He elbowed Nevermore in the stomach, knocking the wind from him, and then punched him in the face, sending him flying.

This brought back memories for Robin. The memories of when he was Slade's apprentice. He would try to beat him, but Slade would use moves just like the new intruder did to Nevermore.

Before anyone could blink, the man had escaped down the hallway and disappeared into the darkness.

Cyborg helped Nevermore up. Nevermore was obviously angry and he turned back into a normal human. He held his burned arm, which was wrapped up in straps, and scowled.

"Wow that was the first time I saw you lose!" Beast Boy said without thinking. (as usual)

"Uh, do not worry," Star said quickly, "You faught well."

"Yeah, every one loses every once in a while," Raven said.

"I guess," Nevermore sighed, "Oh well, we'll probably face him later." Nevermore didn't say a word the whole way home. He had something to think about.

Back at the old abandoned warehouse, the man took his two new jewels out. The jewels were exactly the same. He took two pitch black weapons and put them in the weapons right above the handle. There were depressions there and when the jewels touched them, they glowed a brilliant red and attached to it.

"Finally," the ominous man said, "my favorite weapon is restored."

guess what. This next chapter is dealing completely with Nevermore's past. It is necessary for future references.

Chapter 12
The H.I.V.E.'s Visitor

Nevermore was in his room. He was thinking very hard. Why was he so angry at his apponents lately. Why was he acting the way he was. Suddenly the alarm had sounded. Gizmo, Mammoth, and Jynx were breaking into a bank.

Gizmo had placed a machine on the biggest vault that they had ever seen to open it. When the looked inside, they thought that they were dreaming. The Teen Titans were standing inside, (Thanks to Raven's powers) but really stuck out at them was Nevermore.

"See," Gizmo yelled, "I told you that he was one of those stinkin' gasbags!!!"

"Come on," Jinx yelled, "You know we can't beat him." She used her powers to make rock fall from the cieling, letting her and her teammates make their escape.

When the rubble had stopped falling, Beast Boy asked Nevermore, "What was that all about?"

Nevermore answered that question effectively. He used his powers to make a display out of shadows, "When I was evil, the H.I.V.E. asked me to come and share some of my skill with their agents. I agreed and went to train them. The academy leader set me up with a small group. I bet you can guess who I got stuck with." Nevermore said while nodding toward.

All the Titans knew that he meant Gizmo, Mammoth, and Jinx.

"Well, I taught them many things. How to counter well, how to work together, and how to use their powers effectively." The shadows that he was manipulating showed each of the students using their powers under Nevermore's council.

Nevermore continued, "Well, on the day that I was to leave, they held a fighting tournament, and I couldn't turn down the chance to show my great skill." The shadows showed Nevermore destroying all of Gizmo's gadgets, countering Mammoth's attacks, and using Jinx's hexes against her.

"At the end of the tournament, I had to fight all of the H.I.V.E. agents. To defeat them all, I used a powerful spell right at the beginning of the fight."

The shadows showed Nevermore surrounded by enemies. Then it looked like a wind was picking up and Nevermore's hair flew up and both his eyes were glowing a deep red. Suddenly, a shadow barrier appeared around each of his advesaries, making them freeze in their tracks.

"Those shadow barriers are like virtual reality chambers." Nevermore said, "They scan your mind for what you fear most and make you live through it until you can't take it anymore."

Suddenly, the shadows showed the H.I.V.E. agents being released, some falling to the ground unconcious, others on their hands and knees gasping for breath.

"That's why Jynx, Mammoth and Gizmo just ran away," Nevermore said, "They fear me even more than their headmaster."

Jynx, Gizmo, and Mammoth were talking to the mysterious man with the raven that night. They told him of everything they knew of Nevermore.

The man merely smiled and said, "Good, now I need you to do me a little favor."

Chapter Thirteen
Darkness Approaches

Nevermore was in his room. A fan was on, making it very cold in there. His floor was also open underneath him, revealing a pool that made a fog from the cold. Nevermore was over the pool, surrounded by the freezing fog. He was mediditating. He did this to clear his mind so he could think better. He needed to think about countless things. His mind was incredibly troubled.

"Pepperoni!" Cyborg yelled at Beast Boy.

"No, it needs to be vegetarian!" Beast Boy yelled back.

"Just shut up you two," Raven said, looking up from her book.

"Why don't we just have something else?" Robin suggested.

"No! We need pizza!" Cyborg and Beast Boy yelled in unison.

Suddenly, the alarm went off.

"How many people do we have to stop before that thing will stop?" Cyborg said.

Nevermore entered quietly.

"There are two attacks," Robin said, "Nevermore you get to take the H.I.V.E. agents, and we'll take the other threat. Titans, go!"

Robin and the other Titans had gotten to their destination in time to see an old warehouse collapse. In the middle was the mysterious man that had defeated Nevermore.

"Hello Titans, I see that you're missing a Titan," he said. He threw something at Robin, and something in the air.

Robin saw that it was a communicator and caught it. When he caught it, the machine in the air was activated and the area where the warehouse once stood was lost in darkness. The Titans couldn't see through the pure darkness that lingered there.

The man had escaped again.

"Hey," Beast Boy said, "isn't that Nevermore's communicator?"

It sure was. Instead of it being yellow, it was completely black except for a white T in the middle of it.

Robin opened it and Nevermore could be seen inside an airtight chamber. In front of the chamber, Jynx, Gizmo, and Mammoth stood.

"I bet that you're surprised to see that we defeated Nevermore," Jynx said.

Gizmo was tossing a small machine and catching it again and again. "Yeah, it was easy to make this pitsniffer fall right into our trap. Don't worry, that chamber lets air in and out, but Nevermore can't get out." he said with a grin on his face.

"What are you going to do to him," Raven asked with a stern tone to her voice.

"Nothing," Mammoth said, "unless you try to stop our master again. If you do, we'll find a way to make his death slow and painful."

"And we'll make you watch," Jynx said.

The screen went dark.

The Titans had to do what they said, or else Nevermore would die a slow and painful death. The Titans could do nothing but watch as their city was cast into darkness, one area at a time.

The evil man's plans were working perfectly. He had cast the entire city into darkness....almost. Both he and his raven made their way through the sunless city towards Titans Tower.

That was very good. But one thing, (and i know your gonna say you just made Raven show concern in your last chapter, but please listen to my comment) For Raven and Nevermore to had known each other before, they sure don't talk or communicate much. It seems like Raven acts just like the other titans to Nevermore....:shrug: But, that's my only complaint. Everything else, I think, is wonderful! I love this story!!! Write more!!!:D

i agree with Raven37. I also think that the Almighty Complex was reversed a little too quickly... first nevermore's almost all-powerful with the HIVE running away from him, then they can defeat him just like that. maybe it would've been more believable if you would've described how they did it... or, ya know, maybe i just don't know what i'm talking about:sweat:

All right, explination time. This chapter will answer all of your questions. This part of the story is obviously the most confusing part.

Chapter Fourteen
Battles of the Mind

The Titans were worried. Cyborg was so worried that he was actually eating some tofu eggs that Beast Boy made, without even noticing. Robin was so worried that he was ironing his cape until it started to burn. Starfire was reciting a poem of depression while eating pudding of sadness. Beast Boy had stopped feeding Cy tofu and just sat on the couch quietly. (wow!) Raven was pacing the floor, the same question racing through everyones' mind. How could they save Nevermore and the city if the sun couldn't shine through the impenetrable darkness.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Raven used her powers to get them out of the tower secretly so they could surprise the visitor if he was an enemy.

The Titans saw him, the mysterious villian standing in front of the tall tower.

They quickly started a surprise attack.

Star fired a lot of starbolts at the intruder. Most of them met their mark, sending the mysterious enemy flying. While the villain was still in the air, Cyborg fired a sonic blast, sending their advesary flying into a wall on Titans Tower. Robin grabbed the enemy with his grappling hook, and slammed him into the ground. As the man got up, Beast Boy rammed him as a triceritops, making the evil intruder flying into the ocean. Finally, Raven used her powers to summon a gigantic wave, and slammed and defeating the hated enemy.

Now that they had captured the person that was terrorizing the city, the H.I.V.E. would have to let Nevermore.

They approached thed defeated villain. They were surprised at what they saw. Without the concealment of his eyes and hair by shadow, they realized that this was Nevermore!!!

A raven flew to Nevermore's side, and he got back up.

"Well," Nevermore said, "I see that you know who I am. I guess I'll just have to cast your Tower into darkness."

Now the Titans realized what Nevermore meant when he said that he cast entire cities into shadow.

Nevermore used his powers to get past them, and he entered the tower.

"Titans, go!" Robin yelled.

The Titans went straight into the tower in hot pursuit of their quarry and his raven. Nevermore had been able to stay ahead but knew that he couldn't keep this up much longer.

He headed straight to his room, barely ahead of the Titans. When he had gotten to his room, he used his powers to go under the door to his room.

Raven used her powers to go in to. The raven had also gotten in by perching on Raven's shoulder when she used her powers.

Once inside, Raven saw Nevermore meditating over a foggy pool. Suddenly, fog consumed them both and darkness surrounded them.

When Raven woke up, she saw herself in a grey room. Nevermore was sitting in a corner watching her.

"Ah, I see that you have finally woken up," he said.

"Where are we?" Raven asked, her hands glowing darker than they had ever been before.

"Why we are only in my mind's battlefield," Nevermore said with a careless tone, the raven leaving his shoulder to settle onto a lone tree. "I guess that I expected it to end here."

"What do you mean," Raven said with obvious anger in her voice.

"You mean you've never read the famous poem The Raven?" Nevermore said with shock in his voice, "Hmm, I expected more from you. If you had you would have known that we are connected by that poem. You see, even though it wasn't intended, all three of us have something in common from that poem. It is about a raven, that's you. The raven can only say, 'nevermore,' that's me. And lastly, the raven was suspected to have been brought to a windowsill by a storm, and that's how I met my pet raven over here. But there is an additional catch....my raven and I are more deeply connected than by some mere poem. We are both immortals. The story goes that a raven of great evil appeared four thousand years ago. This raven had a mark that would emenate an evil presence if it found the right person to carry out its evil deeds with. I am one of the people. I am the same age as you but I am still immortal. My raven eye reacts to the evil presence of the raven, therefore, making me just as evil. Do you have any idea of how it feels to be evil? No? Well I guess that you'll just have to fight me then."

With anger flowing through her veins, Raven prepared to fight her controled friend. She would not hold back, this was not her friend, this was the ravens puppet.

With a yell, Nevermore charged. Using his great speed, he caught his advesary before she had a chance to react. With a grunt, Raven flew and ran into a wall. She quickly got up and used her powers to confine Nevermore in a binding of black crackling energy. Nevermore struggled to get free, but Ravens hold was too strong. He fought to get out, but the more he fought, the tighter his foe's grip got.

His vision was getting foggy. He had to react quickly if he wanted to win. He shouted to his raven, pleading for help.

The raven flew over Nevermore's head, staying there for a while. Raven was expecting an attack, but it didn't come.

The symbol on the raven's head and Nevermore's raven eye were both glowing. Suddenly, there was a bright light. When the light had faded, there was no longer two advasaries, but one. Nevermore and the raven had both fused together.

The new enemy had purple hair and wings on his back. His hands and feet had sharp claws. Besides these few changes, everything about Nevermore was the same, all except the eyes. Now both eyes were that of a raven. Both of them shone with evil brilliance.

Now, Nevermore was faster and stronger. He broke free and ran as fast as he could at Raven, and since he had so much power, he hit her across the room and she slammed into the wall. Raven used her powers to throw the tree that had once stood and hurled it at Nevermore. Nevermore sliced right through it with his razor sharp talons. He was walking slowly towards Raven.

Raven knew that if she wanted to save herself and Nevermore, she would have to reach his good side. "Nevermore, please stop. Don't you remember who I am?" She asked.

But Nevermore was oblivious to his words and the raven spoke through him. "He can't hear you. He won't be able to save you. I have him under my control and there is nothing you can do."

Raven no longer had two purple eyes, but four red eyes. She grew taller and her cloak surrounded her. "Shut up. You're just a dumb bird that can't do anything for himself!" Things were flying wildly at Nevermore and he dodged them nimbly.

Nevermore might not have been able to hear what was happening, but he could see what was happening. He could see his friend in emotional pain. He knew that Raven normally could control her emotions, but she was so angry that she couldn't. He couldn't let the raven control him anymore. He had tried to resist before, but now he had a motovation. He hated the raven. Suddenly Nevermore's body stopped moving. One of his eyes was normal.

"Stop," Nevermore said, "I can't let you have things your way."

"On the contrary, Nevermore, I have always had it my way." The raven was obviously speaking.

"Not anymore!" Nevermore yelled, and there was another flash. The raven flew from Nevermore's body. Suddenly, the room changed. Colors were flying everywhere. Light colors went to the left, while dark colors went to the right.

When the colors had stopped moving there were two passages. The raven had flown through the darker portal and vanished. Nevermore was back to normal and stood up.

"Woah, my head," Nevermore said. "Hey everything is back to normal."

"Is this how your mind looks like?" Raven asked, when she had calmed down.

"Yep," Nevermore explained, "See the portal with lighter colors is my good side, and the portal with dark colors is my dark side."

"Well the raven went into the dark portal," Raven said, "shouldn't we follow him?"

"NO!" Nevermore yelled his eyes bulging with terror, "You don't want to go in there. It has changed from many years of evil deeds. I don't even dare to go in there. We need to go into the light portal. If we don't, we may never come out alive."

As Nevermore and Raven were about to enter the light portal, Nevermore stopped, "Oh yeah. Thanks, Rae."

Raven couldn't help but smile.

Yeah it's confusing. Now I have to find a way to portray Nevermore's good side. Oh well, I have already thought of how Nevermore will get rid of the SHADOW THAT IS BLOKING OUT THE SUN. (I think that that should answer your question about the sun.) It'll be cool.

Chapter Fifteen
Mind Sweet Mind

When they had entered the portal, everything changed. The sky was full of grey clouds. There was a strong wind that made it very cold there. In front of them, Raven saw three trees that grew in a triangular shape. Behind the trees was a coulple of swings that were being blown around by the wind. There was a corn field all around them exept for behind them. Where they had entered, there was a building, and a door was open behind them.

"Welcome to my mind," Nevermore said.

Raven took a good look around and drew her cloak tighter around her. "Why does this seem familiar?" she muttered under her breath.

"Because," Nevermore said, not even the least bit effected by the cold, "It was once my home." Raven looked over at him and saw a glisten of true joy in his eyes. He was very happy.

"Come on," Nevermore said, "lets get going."

They walked through the trees and past the swings. Nevermore was obviously enjoying the wind blowing all around him. Raven had quickly gotten used to the cold.

"Why is there such a cold wind?" she asked.

"I always liked days like these," Nevermore said, taking in his surroundings, "I would always get out of the house and climb up onto the roof and meditate. I could only meditate under conditions like these. It made me happy. I could always think clearly. The bitter cold and strong winds were always one of my favorite things. I also liked the darkness that the clouds would bring. I could always think of interesting things to write." By now they were at the beginning of a path.

They walked down the path, it had many twists and turns. After one turn, they saw a tall tree with no leaves. It was an eerie sight. Nevermore smiled as he walked towards it. Raven had never seen a tree like this one.

"I remember this tree," Nevermore said as he touched the ominous tree, "It was the wierdest tree that I had ever seen and for that I liked it. I always thought that it was creepy, but I would always walk to it. Come on, we're almost there."

Raven hadn't noticed this before but Nevermore liked creepy things just as much as she did. They had walked a bit farther, when they had come into a small vineyard. The vines weren't fully grown and were very small. Nevermore walked down one of the rows and motioned for Raven to follow him. Raven caught up with him.

The clouds were green and she was afraid of a tornado but she liked it. She had no idea why, but she liked the fear that had come over her. She looked at Nevermore and it seemed as if he was enjoying it too. She realized that she was smiling and quickly stopped. Nevermore had led her to the edge of a cornfield. He walked in and Raven followed. They found themselves in a cleared area. Nevermore stayed completely still, his face was stern and emotionless. Suddenly, trees started to rise from the ground. The ground was shaking violently as the trees kept rising. Grass had risin last. What lay before them looked like an island in the middle of a sea of dirt.

"This is one of the only things that I was afraid of," Nevermore said, his face a still a stone.

They walked into it. Raven found it frightening too. Although there were trees and grass, it was far too empty. Nevermore walked over to a bunch of trees with an opening in them.

"Come on," Nevermore said, "We'll need to rest if we want to get out of here."

Back at Titans Tower, The remaining Titans were looking for a way to expell the constant night from getting to thier tower. The shadow was crawling over the sea to their tower. The Titans stood in front of their tower, watching the shadow approaching. Finally, after waiting for a while, the shadow had reached their island. It suddenly stopped in front of the tower. Suddenly, shadowed figures emerged from the shadows, and two other shadowed figures appeared them. They had two shadowed allies against a whole army of shadows. They were obviously allies because they were Raven and Nevermore. They prepared for battle.

Back in Nevermore's mind, there was a similar situation except the other Titan's were shadowed. Raven and Nevermore had found themselves facing a massive amount of undead minions.

"Did this ever happen to you?" Raven asked.

"Nope," Nevermore said, "This is what we have to do to get out of here. If we fail, the whole city will be cast in shadow, and we will be banned into the darkest corner of my mind."

As the opposing army had moved in, Raven had started her attack.

"Azarath Metrion Zynthos!" she yelled, sending a ton of gigantic rocks at the enemies. Twenty of them were wiped out and the Titans went into action.

Robin threw exploding disks as he ran at the enemies taking out eight of them before he got to them. He took out his staff and struck at every minion that had come their way. Cyborg was blasting at every minion that he saw while punching any others that had gotten too close. Star was blasting as many as she could with her starbolts. Whenever a minion got too close to one of her teammates, she would snipe them down. Beast Boy had turned into a rhino and was ramming through his enemies as quickly and powerfully as he could. Raven was still chucking rocks at the enemy and Nevermore was using his powers to appear behind a minion and strike him with powerful blows.

Somehow, the minions had surrounded the Titans. There were too many to defeat. They would get to the Titans before the Titans could defeat them. The Titans knew this, and fought with more effort than before, but it proved fruitless. Each of the Titans were bound by ropes of shadow, that made their powers useless.

The Titans closed their eyes so they wouldn't see their horrible fate.

Suddenly, something heavy fell into each one's lap. They opened their eyes and screamed. There was a head in each one of their laps. Nevermore was standing over them and cut them loose. He had managed to escape his bonds and he got Raven up. In Nevermore's mind, there were no more enemies to be fought, but in the real world, the other Titans were attacked by many more enemies. A portal appeared before Raven and Nevermore and they quickly went through. As they reappeared, Nevermore stood between the Titans and the shadows.

Nevermore was doing the unbelievable. He started saying something and his eyes started to glow. "Azarath Metrion Zynthos!" Those words worked for Nevermore too!!! Suddenly, the shadow that covered the city rose and blocked the sun from view. Then the shadow had turned into a tornado and landed around Nevermore. The tornado was being absorbed by Nevermore and in no time at all, it had disappeared.

Nevermore had fainted from the extreme amount of darkness that he had absorbed, but he knew his work was done. The sun could finally shine over Jump City once again.

If you're confused about the last chapter, the good side of Nevermore's mind is a replica of his old home, and the Titans fought the same battle but in different places. sorry if that was confusing.

The Titans were fighting the same enemy, but since they were in different places, Raven and Nevermore looked like shadows to the other Titans and the same goes for how they appeared to Raven and Nevermore. Sorry about the confusion. I'm usually confusing.

Chapter Sixteen
Nevermore's Powers

Nevermore woke up on the couch again. His head was throbbing.

"You're messed up aren't you. Ow!" Raven had elbowed Beast Boy after he said that.

"Why'd you say that?" Nevermore said eying Raven suspiciously.

"Because she told us what was going on with you and why you were evil," Beast Boy said.

"I see," Nevermore said, "Well it saves me the explaining. I'm going to my room. My head hurts."

After Nevermore had left, Beast Boy addressed all of the remaining Titans.

"He's a lot like Terra. You sure that we can trust him?" Beast Boy asked.

"It wasn't his fault that he was evil. He was being controlled," Raven said.

"How do you know that he was being controlled?" Beast Boy said. All the Titans looked at Raven.

"Remember who I am? I can tell if someone's mind is being controlled!" Raven yelled.

"How do we know that you're not lying?" Beast Boy yelled at Raven.

Ravens eyes were starting to glow red, "Why would I lie?"

"Maybe you like him and you don't want to face the fact that he's evil," Beast Boy said with a mocking tone.

Now Raven was really angry. Beast Boy was both calling her a liar and mocking her at the same time. Again, four red eyes appeared on her head and she attacked Beast Boy.

Beast Boy turned into a cheeta and ran out of the tower. Raven was hot on his trail. They were too fast for the other Titans to catch up. Beast Boy had turned into an eagle to fly over the sea, but Raven just levitated over the water. They had chased eachother into an ally when a black tentacle appeared from under Raven's cloak and wrapped itself around Beast Boy and threw him through a wall.

Beast Boy knew that their was no use running now. He turned into a gorrila and attacked. Raven had not seen the attack coming and was hit full force by Beast Boy's powerful punch. She quickly recovered and started throwing bricks at Beast Boy. Beast Boy had turned into an eagle and soared straight up, before any of the bricks could hit him. He flew over Raven and turned into a brontosaurus. Raven saw the gigantic dinosaur falling over her and she used her powers to get out of the way. Beast Boy landed on a few bricks, but was fine.....at least until a whole wall of bricks had landed on him. Beast Boy was trapped under a pile of bricks. He could only watch as Raven's anger carried her onward.

The other Titans, except for Nevermore, had arrived.

"Raven, stop!" all the Titans said at the same time. Raven did not even slow down. Raven was almost at Beast Boy when the Titans tried to stop her. Robin threw an exploding disk at her, but this only made her more angry. Raven turned around and struck at Robin with tentacle that sent him flying into a brick wall. He had passed out. Star used her starbolts to hit Raven, but Raven hit them back at her. Star had also passed out. As Raven turned around to continue her attack on Beast Boy, Cyborg punched her and Raven went flying into a wall. Cyborg pulled out his sonic cannon and fired at her until a ton of bricks fell on top of her.

"Booya!" Cyborg cheered. He had cheered too soon. A bunch of tentacles wrapped around him and lifted him up as Raven, eyes as red as ever, emerged from the rubble. She pulled Cyborg's right arm off, and threw him.

Now Beast Boy knew it was over. He promised that if he ever survived that he would never bug Raven again.

Suddenly, Raven stopped. She fell over and passed out. Nevermore was standing there, with a glowing object in his hand. He quickly put the object away, and got Beast Boy out of the rubble. Beast Boy quickly convinced himself that he had his fingers crossed when he made his promise. (figures)

Back at the tower, Raven was in her room. She was still mad at Beast Boy when Nevermore came in.

"Hey," Nevermore said.

Raven didn't say anything.

"I've been elected to talk to you," Nevermore said.

"Figures," Raven said, still staring at the floor.

"Beast Boy was bugging you again?" Nevermore said.

"Yeah," Raven said, "He still believed that you were evil."

"Well I'm not, and I never was," Nevermore said.

"What do you mean?" Raven asked, leaving her gaze at the floor to look at Nevermore for an explination.

"I've always admired you for your wise words Raven so here are some of my own," Nevermore said, "If I was truly evil, I would have not felt any remorse for the horrible things that I had done, but since I did fell bad about what I did, I was just bad. Bad doesn't stay for long. Look at me. I have saved a lot of people since my dark reign. Beast Boy does not understand that. He has lost all of his trust to any newcomers since Terra."

Raven looked at him with an expression on his face that obviously said, "How'd he know about that."

"The other Titans told me about it. It may be hard for him to ever trust other people again, but he'll trust you and the other Titans because he knows you better. He bugs you because he thinks that it is fun. He doesn't know that it makes you angry. He always jokes around like that with Cyborg and Robin and it doesn't bother them so he figures that it shouldn't bother you either. Let's just hope that he has learned his lesson."

"Hey Nevermore?" Raven said. Nevermore turned around. "Are you from Azarath?"

"Yes, I am," Nevermore said.

"How can you keep your powers under control? I mean, you seem to happy to keep them under control," Raven said.

"Well, I'm a bit different," Nevermore started, "I can only use your magic words for a very few things. You saw one of them today, when I removed the shadow from the city. As for my emotions, I can have emotions because my powers are effected by other people's emotions. That's why my powers were different when we faced Gizmo, Plasmus, and Mumbo. They were scared, so my powers were different. Some of my powers aren't controlled by emotions at all. I was cast out of Azarath for this. As you can guess, they sent me to earth. Well, I've got to go. I was also elected to talk to Beast Boy." Nevermore shivered. "This should be interesting." With that, he left the room.

Raven smiled. Nevermore certainly had a way with words.

Chapter Seventeen
Malchior Speaks Once Again

Raven was glad that she wasn't Nevermore. Even though she was still in her room and had her door locked, she could still hear the noises of Beast Boy yelling and throwing things at Nevermore.

Suddenly, a chest near her bed started to shake and a muffled voice came from it.

Raven opened the chest. There was a white book in it. "I thought that you wouldn't bother me again!" Raven said to the book.

"Sorry, but I thought that you mentioned the name Nevermore," the book said. This was no ordinary book. This book held a dragon named Malchoir in it. This evil dragon once tricked Raven into getting him out of the book, but Raven had put him back.

"Yeah, he just left," Raven said.

"What!!!" Malchior's voice sounded surprised. "You mean to tell me that you have already met Nevermore?"

"Yeah. Why are you so surprised?" Raven asked.

"Remember that picture of you that I showed you?" Malchior said, "Well you weren't destined to release me." The book opened to reveal a picture of Raven. "If you had turned the page, you would have seen this."

There was a picture of a shadowed figure, surrounded by black mist. His eyes were obviously evil.

"This is Nevermore. You are destined to meet because you are the only one that can free him of the many evils that inhabit him." Malchior explained.

"How many evils are there?" Raven asked with a worried tone.

"Uh, well....only two," Malchior said.

"I already did that," Raven said.

"What? You mean that I missed one of the greatest battles since my battle with Rorek? How disappointing. So I guess that you know that he is immortal." Malchior said.

"Yeah I knew that," Raven said, "It'll be hard for him to make new friends."

"What he didn't tell you?" Malchior said. He obviously knew something that she hadn't. "Not only is he immortal, but when he lives with someone, they become immortal also."

"What?" Raven said, "You mean to say that the Teen Titans will last forever?"

"Unless you are killed," Malchior said.

Raven slammed the chest shut. She couldn't believe it. The Teen Titans would last forever! She was in a very deep thought until something crashed through her door.

"Look out!" Cyborg and Nevermore said in unison as another object came flying at them.

"Beast Boy still doesn't trust me!" Nevermore explained. Beast Boy had chased Nevermore all over the tower and anyone that got in the way was running too.

Raven looked at Cyborgs arm. It was back on, but she apologized anyway.

"Don't worry about it," Cy said as another ball of Beast Boy's socks came flying at him, "It's an ejecter arm. I popped it off before you broke it."

Beast Boy was charging and Cy, Raven, and Nevermore were running away. Nevermore had picked up a mexican hat and a fake mustach that Beast Boy had thrown and put them on.

"It's time for the running of the bulls!" Nevermore shouted as he ran as fast as he could. Nevermore was obviously glad to have friends.

The Titans ran around the tower until Beast Boy finally got tired. Nevermore put on a straight face and walked up to Beast Boy.

"Now will you listen?" he said, his voice as emotionless as Raven's.

Beast Boy was so tired that he could only nod.

"Good," Nevermore started explaining everything to Beast Boy. If Beast Boy hadn't known any better, he would have thought that it was Raven talking to him with a fake voice.

Eventually, Beast Boy was convinced. He apologized to Raven and Nevermore for not trusting them.

Cyborg's stomach growled. "Pizza!" He yelled. "I say pepperoni."

"No way, dude," Beast Boy yelled, "It has to be vegetarian."

Raven rolled her eyes and Nevermore shook his head. A whole new argument had started.

Meanwhile, back at Nevermore's room, a raven emerged from a portal. It took a look around and found what it was looking for. It grabbed it and got out as soon as possible. Trouble was brewing.

Chapter Eighteen
The Theater Returns

The Titans were all in their rooms, sleeping silently. (Except for BB) The evil raven had found a way into Titans Tower. It silently made its way to the evidence room. Once it was there, it started looking at all of the evidence in there. It stopped in front of one thing in particular. It laid down the piece of paper and put a mask of the Puppet King. Suddenly, he came to life.

The Puppet King had returned.

Beast Boy had been sleeping lightly when he was awakened by a noise. He looked around, but saw nothing. He decided that he was just imagining things, and tried to sleep again. Suddenly he heard a noise. It was music. It was slow and creepy. He shivered at the sound. When the music stopped, everything went dark.

This happened to all the Titans except for Nevermore and Raven. Raven had woken up to meditate, but Nevermore woke up with a start. He jumped out of bed, got dressed, and ran out of his room. He needed to find Raven. He knew that something wasn't right. He was running for a while when he found Beast Boy.

"Where....is....Raven?" Nevermore said while panting.

Beast Boy just pointed up a flight of stairs that led to the roof.

Nevermore was curious about BB's behavior, but he started towards the stairs to the roof. Suddenly, he heard music. He quickly plugged his ears and ran for the stairs. He knew this song. He made it to the roof before the song had ended. He saw Raven levitating off the ground and he made his way towards her.

"Raven, we have to get out of here, quickly!" Nevermore said.

"What are you talking about?" Raven asked. Suddenly, the door burst open and the other Titans came towards them. "Wait, I know those eyes!" Raven said. The other Titans eyes were blank, and from behind them, the Puppet King appeared.

"Hello," the puppet said with an eerie voice, "I have a new way of controlling your friends." Suddenly, Cyborg grabbed Raven and Nevermore from behind.

The Puppet King approached them slowly.

"How are you controlling them this time?" Raven asked.

The Puppet King pulled out a flute and started to play from it.

Nevermore couldn't help but ask, "How did you get those spells?"

Raven gave Nevermore a surprised look. Spells? That song he was playing were Nevermore's spells?

The Puppet King had finished his song and masks fell from Raven and Nevermore's faces. Now they were under Puppet King's control. He put Raven's mask on and he suddenly had her powers. He put on Nevermore's mask, but he couldn't use his powers. "What? What use is this mask if I can't use the powers. He concealed the other masks except for Nevermore's and started playing a different song. Before he had finished his song, BB's mask fell out of its container and rolled in front of Nevermore.

Before the Puppet King could notice what had happened, he had finished his songs and the masks put themselves on the closest person and disappeared.

The masks had been put on the wrong person. Beast Boy and Nevermore ran without noticing that they were in the wrong body. They hid in the basement.

"We have to help our friends before the Puppet King helps himself!" Nevermore said. He tried to turn into a shadow but nothing happened. It was at this time that he realized that they were in the wrong bodies.

"Hey," BB said, "Why are my arms cold?" Now BB noticed that he was in the wrong body.

He started to scream, but Nevemore covered his mouth.

"Sh, they'll hear us," Nevermore hissed, "Now if we're going to get out of here, you're going to have to tell me how to use your powers."

"Why can't you tell me how to use your powers?" Beast Boy wispered.

"Because, they're too complicated," Nevermore said. "Now how do you use your powers."

"Fine, just think of an animal that you want to become and focus real hard," Beast Boy said.

"Wow you can actually focus on something," Nevermore said mockingly.

"Just do it and get us out of here," Beast Boy said.

Nevermore closed his eyes and focused real hard. Suddenly, he turned into a green pteredactal. He turned back into a a human and snuck out of the tower with BB. He turned back into a pteredactal and flew him across the sea. They hid in the city.

"Can you show me how to use your powers now?" BB said impatiently.

"Fine" Nevermore said, "Think about the darkest thing you have ever seen. To turn back just think about being a human."

Beast Boy thought about Raven's mind. Suddenly, he turned into a shadow. He smiled for a second and then immediately turned back into a human.

"Dude! What's with the cold?" Beast Boy said while rubbing his arms vigorously.

"With darkness comes coldness. I told you my powers were complecated," Nevermore said with a smile on his face. "When you get used to it, just think of how a shadow moves and you'll be able to move like one."

Beast Boy would continuously try and try, but he couldn't stay as a shadow for more than three seconds. "How do you survive the cold?" BB asked.

"Just think of something depressing," Nevermore said.

"What? I don't know if anything really depressing has ever happened to me" Beast Boy said.

Nevermore only had to say one word. "Terra."

Beast Boy immediatly turned into a shadow and started to cry. Suddenly he stopped. "Hey! I'm not cold!" he said with a smile spreading across his face. When he turned around, the smile dissapeared.

Nevermore was gone.

Suddenly, there was a roar and Cyborg and Robin fell towards BB.

BB knew what was going on. He sprung into action.

Robin charged at him with his staff out. As he swung, Beast Boy used Nevermore's powers to vanish into the ground and appear behind Robin. He punched him as hard as he could and sent Robin flying. Beast Boy was proud of himself. He learned how to use Nevermore's powers. Suddenly, Cyborg hit him from behind. Beast Boy went flying but was caught by Robin. Beast Boy closed his eyes, not wanting to see what would happen to him.

On the rooftops, Nevermore was fighting Raven and Star.

"Oh come on, that's not fair. Don't you know that you're not supposed to hit girls?" Nevermore said while dodging the attacks that were thrown at him. He had quickly learned what animals were best at dodging, and dodged every attack that was thrown at him....all except for one. Raven threw a large amount of bricks at Nevermore while Star shot a huge amount of starbolts at him. They both hit him and he fell off a large building, landing with a sickening thud on the ground. Nevermore had been knocked unconcious.

Beast Boy had been punched by Robin and then thrown into the air. While he was in the air, Cy shot him with a sonic blast. BB went flying until he landed near Nevermore. Seeing that Nevermore was unconcious, he decided that it was time to retreat.

He took Nevermore and left as quickly as possible.

Took me a while to get on today. (Stupid sister that never gets off the phone!) Anyway, here's the next chapter.

Chapter Nineteen
Show Canceled

Nevermore woke slowly. Once he was fully awake, he shot up.

Was it just a dream. He looked at his hands. He sighed in despair. His hands were green. Beast Boy was in a corner, practicing his new powers.

"No, no, no. Think duck, then turn." Nevermore said.

Beast Boy tried it and appeared behind Nevermore.

"Good work," he said, "Now let's practice on one another." Nevermore turned into a green gorilla. BB turned into a shadow.

Nevermore threw a punch at Beast Boy and missed. Beast Boy used his powers to go under Nevermore and appear behind him. Unfourtunately for Beast Boy, Nevermore knew this move, and he continued the punch and hit Beast Boy right in the head. Beast Boy went flying. He knew that he wasn't going to get far. Nevermore had made his point. If they were going to defeat the Puppet King, he would have to use unexpected moves. Nevermore reached out with his hand. BB grabbed it and got up.

Nevermore had just realized where they were. They were in an old theater.

"I'm guessing that this is where that puppet will come to soon," Nevermore said.

Beast Boy hit his head, "I didn't think of that, and by the way, his name is the Puppet King."

"Well seeing that we are going to have to fight him soon, I am going to teach you a very dangerous move that you should only use on the Puppet King, do you understand me?" Nevermore said sternly.

Beast Boy nodded and Nevermore instruced him. "Allright, think of someone you really hate. Focus real hard," Nevermore said as he backed away.

Beast Boy thought hard. The first person that came to his mind was Slade. The way he had turned Terra evil. The way that he had turned her against him. He hated Slade almost as much as Robin. Suddenly, his hands started to glow black. He swung at the closest thing. It was a metal pole in the ground. It was a clean slice that cut through the pole with no effort at all.

"Good job," Nevermore said. There was a noise at the door. BB and Nevermore hid in the shadows.

The Puppet King and the controlled Titans entered. He was holding one of the Titan's communicator.

"They're somewhere around here," the evil puppet said.

Both Nevermore and BB knew that there was no point in hiding now. Nevermore turned into a cheeta and lunged at the puppet king. He was hit down by Cyborg. Nevermore turned into a gorilla and attacked.

Beast Boy was dodging the attacks that were thrown at him. Starbolts and exploding disks were flying at him and he used his powers to dodge each one. Finally, his dodging paid off. Robin and Starfire were standing to his left and right. They both attacked Beast Boy, but he turned into a shadow and left the attacks to hit the opponents that had attacked him, knocking them unconcious.

Nevermore was fighting Raven and Cyborg when he noticed the Puppet King pull out a flute. He quickly turned into a human again and shouted to BB.

"Get the Puppet King!" he shouted before getting hit with a sandbag.

The Puppet King had started his song.

Beast Boy had to act quickly. He ran towards the Puppet King when Raven and Cyborg had blocked off his path. BB turned into a shadow and went behind the contolled Titans. He reappeared in front of the Puppet King. He quickly thought of Slade and used his shadowed arms to cut through the flute.....and the puppet's face.

Two halves of a mask fell off the Puppet King's face as he became limp. A piece of paper fell from his hands and landed in front of Nevermore. Without someone to control them, the Brainwashed Titans stood staring at Nevermore.

"Back to the tower!" Nevermore shouted and immediatly all the Titans headed to their tower.

Nevermore grabbed the masks and quickly followed.

Back at the tower, Nevermore lined up the controlled Titans and put their masks in front of them. He looked at the paper in front of him and pulled out a small instrument. He launched into a song and the masks started to glow.

When he had finished, the masks flew onto the right Titan and Nevermore and BB were switched back to normal.

"Finally, I can control myself again. You know what it's like to know what's going on but not being able to do anything?" Cy asked.

"Yeah, I do," Nevermore and BB said together.

"I am wanting to know why the Puppet King could not be able to unleash your powers," Star said.

"My powers are connected to my body, only my body can use my powers," Nevermore explained, "They were meant for me and me only, but someone else found that out the hard way today."

Later that day Nevermore and Raven were talking.

"You said that those songs were your spells," Raven said, "Is there something that you didn't tell us?"

"Those are powerful spells," Nevermore said, "They were created by evil and were used by evil. They can do things unimaginable. I thought that I had heard the last of them, but it seems that someone found them and brought the Puppet King back."

At that moment, they heard a raven. The raven was in the window. They understood what had happened. The raven had gotten the spells and used them in the same place where the Puppet King's spirit lingered, causing it to be trapped inside a mask.

Nevermore went to his room. He opened a small box and put the papers in it.

"Never again," he said. With that, he hid the box in a compartment in the roof. "I will never let those spells be used again."

Sorry. It's a short chapter. But the next one won't.

Hello. Did you miss me? JK I am writing this chapter now. Here you go.

Chapter Twenty
Fires of Darkness

It was a while since the Titans faced the Puppet King when a call came in on Robin's communicator.

Robin answered it and Hotspot showed up on screen. "Is it okay if I visit?" he asked, "It's urgent."

Nevermore stayed in his room when Hotspot visited. He said that he had to check and see if all of his spells and other dangerous items were hidden well.

"Thanks for letting me in," Hotspot said.

"Well when we heard that it was urgent, we had to let you in," Robin said.

"Yeah about that, you won't believe me, but there is a dangerous raven flying around there," Hotspot said hesistantly.

"We already know that," Raven said with her usual monotone voice.

"How do you know that there's...." Hotspot suddenly stopped.

Nevermore had tried to sneak in to get something to eat out of the fridge but when he saw Hotspot staring him, he froze.

Hotspot broke the silence. "You!" he yelled, a face of pure hatred and anger on his face.

Nevermore dropped the apple that he was holding and held his hands out.
Suddenly, two completely black katars flew into his hands. The only part that wasn't black were two red jewels over the handles.

Nevermore ran and Hotspot ran after him. He jumped at a window and broke through. He was falling from the top floor!

"Hah, he won't be able to stop in time," Hotspot laughed.

He was right. Nevermore was falling too fast. Before he reached the ground, he reached out with his hands. He hit the ground and the katars dug into the ground, and he swung off of them and landed neatly on the ground. Hotspot was really mad and he jumped out and use his powers to keep himself from falling too fast. Nevermore grabbed his katars and turned into a shadow in order to skim across the water. Hotspot was flying after him. The Titans were extremely confused.

"Did we miss something?" Beast Boy asked.

"Maybe, but we'd better follow them," Robin said. The Titans quickly followed.

Nevermore and Hotspot were in the city. Nevermore was easily escaping Hotspot. He would hide in alleys and on top of buildings, but Hotspot would always find him. Eventually he was in the forest. Nevermore knew that it was useless to hide here, Hotspot could burn down the trees.

Nevermore turned around, poised and ready for battle. Hotspot landed in front of Nevermore. They were in a clearing in the middle of the forest. The Titans arrived just in time to see the battle.

Hotspot fired many fireballs at Nevermore. Nevermore used his katars to quickly deflect all of the fireballs. Nevermore lunged at Hotspot. Hotspot turned his arms into flames. Shadowed metal clashed against intense flames. They were fighting at an increadibly fast pace. Suddenly Hotspot shot a fireball at Nevermore that his him square in the chest. Nevermore flew a short distance and fell heavily. Hotspot shot the biggest fireball ever seen at Nevermore.

Nevermore quickly held up his katars and yelled, "Azarath Metrion Zynthos!"

Shadows grew from the katars and blocked the fireball. The shadow and fireball were fighting against eachother when they suddenly mixed together and disappeared into the ground.

"That's not good," Nevermore said wide eyed.

Suddenly, a fire monster rose from the ground.

"Look who's back," Raven said.

Hotspot didn't care about the monster. He jumped at Nevermore.

"Stop!" Robin yelled, "What is wrong with you two."

"He's a criminal!" Hotspot yelled, "I'm trying to stop him!"

"He is not evil! He hss joined our team to redeem himself his evil deeds!" Star yelled while trying to hold back the flaming creature.

"Now that you're done fighting," Robin said, "why don't you try to stop the monster that you two have revived."

Hotspot ran at the monster shooting fireballs at the monster. It didn't effect the creature. (as expected) All the Titans were trying to stop the monster, but nothing worked.

Nevermore grabbed Hotspot. "We're fighting it the wrong way," he said.

"What do you mean?" Hotspot said, shaking Nevermore's arm off of him.

"This creature was made from fire and darkness fighting against eachother right? Well what if they worked together?" Nevermore said, trying to ignore the burns on his arms.

Hotspot nodded his head, he knew what he meant. They ran infront of the creature that threatened to burn everything down. Nevermore held out his katars and shouted Raven's famed words, "Azarath Metrion Zynthos!" Again, a shield of darkness appeared in front of him. Hotspot shot a fireball at it. The fireball went through the barrier and grew as the shadows surrounded it. It grew to the size of a tidal wave. It crashed into the fire monster, and it acted like a giant tidal wave. The fire monster desintegrated and disappeared.

"Good work," Robin said, "Now, will you explain why you two were fighting?"

"I believe that that is my story to tell," Nevermore said. "See, when I was a villain, many heroes tried to stop me. Needless to say, none of them succeeded. Hotspot here was one of them. He would try countless times to defeat me, but he never could. He probably didn't hear that I was a Teen Titan and had turned from my evil ways."

"That explains it a lot," BB said.

"But why didn't we ever hear about you then?" Robin asked.

"Probably because I was nowhere near Jump City when I was evil," Nevermore said.

"Now that that's cleared up," Hotspot said, "would someone tell me how you knew about the evil raven that is loose?"

"We know about it because it used to be Nevermore's raven," Raven said.

"Used to be?" Hotspot asked.

"It was controlling me," Nevermore said, "I think that I had better tell you the whole tale."

It was four hours later when Nevermore had finished telling his story.

"Well you have an interesting past, Nevermore," Hotspot said, "Well I had better get going."

The Titans said there good byes as Hotspot left. As soon as he was out of sight, the alarm went off.

"It's the raven!" Cy said.

"I think that it's time that we finished this," Nevermore said. A look of pure determination on his face.

good chapter, i liked how you brought in hotspot, and tell me, is this like a never ending story? every chapter has it's own problems, plot, and setting.

This story is pretty good. Nice stoylines, some good use of the characters, and a nice set up for Nevermore's past. Reid and Kregor have given you all of the major advice that i can think, so i'll just say keep going with this, tis darned good.

Oh, and put the sequel in a seperate fanfic, as it is a seperate story.

Chapter Twenty-one
Disappearance

The Titans tried to talk Nevermore out of it.

"Please, we are all damaged," Starfire said, "We should rest and recover our strength."

"Yeah," Cy said, "With those burns on your arms, it would be just plain stupid.

You don't know what that bird's got waiting for you."

"I don't care!" Nevermore yelled, "I'm going after that evil creature. If I get in trouble, I can call you guys." With that, Nevermore left.

The raven had just pulled of a robbery at another jewelry store. The jewel that it had stolen was different though. It was shaped just like the symbol on its forehead.

"Hello, old friend," Nevermore said. as he approached the raven. Again, Nevermore was in the forest. "You're not going to escape me this time."

The raven put the jewel up to his forehead. It glowed and disappeared.

Suddenly the raven spoke. "Actually," the raven said, "it is you who will want to escape." With this, the raven flew into the air. It flapped its wings and a bunch of feathers went flying at Nevermore.

Nevermore dodged them neatly. "Well now you can talk," Nevermore said, "But that doesn't mean that you can beat me." Nevermore jumped at the raven only to be greeted with a couple of feathers flying at him, pinning him to the ground.

The raven flew over him. "I think that it's time for you to say goodbye."

The Titans were feeling guilty and went to help Nevermore. They arrived just in time to see the raven conjure up a mist that surrounded Nevermore.

The mist turned into a fog. It started to swirl around Nevermore. It spun faster and faster, until it disappeared.......Nevermore was gone.

"No!" Raven yelled. She ran to the spot where Nevermore was pinned. All that was left were two pointed feathers.

"Where has our strange friend gone?" Star asked.

"He's not showing up on my sensors," Cyborg said.

"Not good," Beast Boy said, "If Cy can't find him then he's probably dea...mph!"

Robin covered Beast Boy's mouth before he could finish. He could tell that Raven was upset.

Raven couldn't believe it. The only true friend that could understand her....gone. She just knelt there. Kneeling over the spot where her friend used to be.

No one cared that the evil raven had gotten away.

Nevermore was gone.

Hmmm. Chapter was fairly short, but contained much stuff. And things. Yes, it had stuff and things. T'was good, i must admit, altho there wasn't much of a battle between Nevermore and the raven (can we call him Quoth? As in "quoth the raven?" sounds cool), altho this is probably because you are just building up to the climactic final showdown!

Keep writing, i want to see where this goes

I never thought of calling him Quoth. I could only think of calling him Tempest (Meaning violent storm) but that wouldn't work. Maybe I should call him Quoth, I mean it's short and simple. Thank you m'Lord.

Chapter Twenty-two
Forgotten Past

Nevermore had regained conciousness. He heard unidentifiable voices around him so he kept his eyes closed.

"Why does he look so familiar?" This voice belonged to what sounded like an old man.

"I don't know. Should we try to wake him up?" This one sounded like a girl Nevermore's age.

Suddenly, Nevermore realized how badly his burned arms hurt. He grimaced from the pain, and the people noticed.

"He's awake!" the girl said.

"Don't touch his arms, they're burnt real bad," the man said.

"I didn't know that," the girl said.

Nevermore opened his normal eye and sat up. "Who are you?" Nevermore asked, "Where am I?"

He saw the old man. He was tall with short white hair. He was dressed in a white robe. "You're in Azarath," the man said, "My name is Temton and her name is Swift."

Nevermore looked over at the girl. She had long brown hair and eyes. She was taller than Nevermore, but shorter than Temton. She was dressed in a green sweatshirt and long, green baggy pants. She smiled at Nevermore.

"Well now that you know our names, what's yours?" Swift said.

"And where are you from?" Temton said, while leaning on a wooden stick.

"Well I'm from Earth, but I was born here," Nevermore said, "and my name is Nevermore."

When Temton heard what Nevermore had said, he dropped his walking stick and ran at Nevermore and held his shoulder.

"What did you say your name was?" said the excited man.

"Nevermore," Nevermore answered. He winced in pain as the old man hugged him tightly.

"Swift, Nevermore has come back!" Temton yelled, "You remember Nevermore, don't you?"

"How could I forget? I was the one who covered his raven eye," Swift said.

"Wait, you know me?" Nevermore asked.

"You mean, you don't remember anything about Azarath?" Temtor asked, letting go of Nevermore.

Nevermore shook his head.

"I guess that it was only expected," Swift said, "It was a long time ago."

"What are you guys talking about?" Nevermore asked.

"When you little, you couldn't control your powers." Temton began. "Whenever your raven eye and normal eye were seen together, terrible things would happen. Your family was threatened by an evil man that if you weren't sent away from Azarath he would kill you and your family."

"So they had me use my powers to cover your raven eye, and then they sent you to earth," Swift said, "but the man didn't know that you had left and he killed your family."

"All except for one," Temton said. "Your sister escaped but she lost her arm. She left a while ago to find the one that killed her parents and get revenge."

"My sister?" Nevermore said.

"Yes," Swift said, "her name is Skylark, but she prefers to be called Lark. She was one of the most powerful people on Azarath." Swift handed Nevermore a picture.

On the picture was a girl. She was a bit taller than Nevermore and she had blonde hair and green eyes. She was dressed in a white T-shirt and pink jeans. The thing that really stood out was that her right arm was robotic. It was painted white. It reminded him a bit of Cyborg.

"This is a picture that I got a few months ago," Swift said, "Now I can tell her that you're safe."

Nevermore looked around the room. It was a regular guest room. White walls, a bed, dresser, closet, and a door that led to a bathroom.

"Look, I need to get back to Earth. It's urgent," Nevermore said.

"Why do you need to go back so soon, I mean you just got here," Swift said.

"Well I need to stop a villain. I think that he is the one that sent me here." Nevermore said.

"It sounds like you need some training," Temton said, "Maybe you should stay here and train with Swift."

"It's probably for the best," Swift said.

Swift had a look on her face that could make even Raven cry.

"Alright, alright!" Nevermore yelled, "Just don't use that face!"

Immediately Swift's face broke into a huge smile and she hugged Nevermore even tighter than Temton did. "Awsome! This is going to be so much fun!" she said.

"Um, Swift! My arms," Nevermore said. Swift immediately let go.

"Be ready to train tomorrow," Swift said.

Nevermore rubbed his arms. They were in wet bandages. He tried to ignore the pain in his arms. He wondered what was going on back on Earth.

Raven was in her room, lying on her be thinking ever since she got back to the tower.

The other Titans were concerned and tried to talk to her, but every time they knocked on her door, she would just tell them to go away.

She knew that nothing that her friends would say would make her feel better.

She was worried for Nevermore. She wanted him back so badly that she could have cried. But she couldn't. She knew that she couldn't have any emotions.

It was dangerous. She would lose control of her powers. Where was Nevermore? Is he okay? Is he in trouble? So many questions raced through her mind, but none of them were answered.

The same questions were racing through the other Titans minds.

"I can't find him," Cy said to the reamaining Titans, "I've checked several time,
I even increased the range to as far as they could go, but there's no sign of him."

"How far do you scanners reach?" Star asked.

"Farther than Tameran," Cy said, his voice sad.

"Then where could he be?" Robin asked to himself.

"The only way that Cyborg's scanners couldn't find him is if he was dead," Beast Boy said.

"No, he can't be dead," Raven had left her room to ask what they had found out, "He just can't," Raven said. She left the room and headed for Nevermore's room.

She used her powers to get into his room. It was cold in there. For the first time she thought that it was refreshing. The lights were on. She could see many things. Books, poetry, and spells were on a shelf. His room was painted black and even though his lights were on, it was still pretty dark in there. She walked over to Nevermore's bed and sat down.

"Nevermore, where have you gone?" Raven asked herself.

She missed Nevermore.

New chapter, My computer froze the first time I typed it up.

Chapter Twenty-three
What do I call it?

Nevermore was rudely woken. He was sleeping when Temton came into his room and started hitting him with his walking stick.

"Wake up!" the old man yelled.

Nevermore opened his eyes and caught the stick and sat up. "All right, I'm awake."

"Hurry up, you have to start your training soon," Temton said.

Nevermore went into the bathroom and started brushing his teeth. When he was done, he got dressed in his regular black attire. He always thought that it was wierd that he dressed in black when he had blonde hair. They were different like dark and light. He never really cared about this because he never really cared what other people thought.

His thoughts suddenly changed to Raven. He pulled a picture out of his pocket. It was a picture of Nevermore and Raven being chased by a green bull. Cyborg took this picture when Beast Boy was angry at Nevermore. He smiled. He always knew that Raven didn't care about how wierd he was. After all, she was a lot like him.

He went on thinking about Raven, but suddenly there was a knock on the door.

"Are ever coming out?" It was Swift.

Nevermore exited the bathroom.

Swift was already ready. "You take longer to get ready than I do. Come on, you'll have to eat while we go." Swift handed Nevermore an apple and a canteen filled with herbal tea.

Swift led him over some hills to a place that was completely flat and covered in grass. It looked like a natural battleground.

"Alright," Swift said, "my powers can only move thing, but quickly."

"Okay," Nevermore said.

"Yeah," Swift said, "I'm going to throw grass at you and I want you to dodge it. Get ready."

Nevermore got into his battle position and prepared for the attack that awaited him.

Swift closed her eyes. She had to fucus. Suddenly patches of grass rose out of the ground. They flew at Nevermore in groups. Nevermore dove into the ground. That was the only way that he would be fast enough to dodge the blades of grass.

He was dodging them all. He almost made it, but the last patch of grass hit him and he flew out of the ground, the grass protruding from his cheek.

"Hahahahaha. Looks like you have another pathetic training partner, Swift." There was a boy. Older and taller than Swift. He had Brown hair and eyes. He was dressed in a read shirt and blue pants. He had a sheathed sword that he had his hand on.

"What do you want, Skeith?" Swift asked with a stern tone.

"Why, I just want to test out your new training buddy, but seeing that he can't even beat a few blades of grass..." Skeith had an evil grin on his face.

Nevermore had just gotten the blade of grass out from his cheek. "I accept your challenge,"

Skeith had just started to draw his sword, when Nevermore shot his arms out and his katars flew to hand.

"Azarath Metrion Zinthos!" Right after Nevermore yelled these words, he threw one of his katars at Skeith.

Skeith easily blocked it with his sword, but after he hit the katar, his sword's edges turned black. Nevermore held out his empty hand and the stray katar flew back to his hand.

Skeith ignored the new features on his sword and charged at Nevermore.

He struck madly at Nevermore, only to find that Nevermore's pitch black blades could block as quickly as he could attack. Skeith kept attacking and attacking. He thrust at Nevermore one last time.

This time Nevermore couldn't block it.

Swift gasped. The curved sword had gone straight through Nevermore's stomach.

Nevermore looked down and stumbled back a few paces. He put his katars away and pulled the sword out. There wasn't a mark on him.

"How...how did you do that?" Skeith said, wide eyed.

"I used my powers on my katars," Nevermore said, "When they hit your sword, it put a spell on it that makes it so that it can not kill anyone. It will not kill them, but it will hurt as much." Nevermore rubbed the spot where the sword once was in his stomach.

"I'll tell you what, if you give me my sword back, I'll leave," Skeith said with a look of terror on his face. He knew that this was a battle that he couldn't win.

Nevermore threw the sword in at Skeith, and it stuck in the ground in front of him.

Skeith picked up the sword and the black markings disappeared. "This isn't over, not by a long shot, newcomer," Skeith yelled while running over the hill.

"Come on," Swift said.

"Where are we going?" Nevermore said.

"Your old home," Swift said. She was pointing to an old abandoned house.

"My....home?" Nevermore asked.

I left you hanging once. Now I'll do it again.:evil:

Chapter Twenty-four
Gone

Nevermore and Swift walked into a blue house. There was a thick layer of dust on everything.

"How long has it been since someone's been in here?" Nevermore said, picking
up a picture that was covered in dust.

"Since you left," Swift said. Nevermore put the picture down and followed Swift. They walked to the end of a hallway and stopped in front of a door.

"What's in there?" Nevermore asked.

"It used to be your room," Swift said in a sad tone and she opened the door.

It was a small room. There were black birds painted all over the dark blue walls. There was a small hammock hanging from the roof, right next to a perfectly painted bird. There were childrens toys all over the floor. Nevermore walked over to the hammock and ran his fingers over the bird. It was a painting of a raven.

Suddenly, forgotten memories flooded back into his head. Playing with his sister, eating dinner with his family, racing with birds, his parents arguing, him having to pack, and finally him leaving.

The painful memories came last. It was too much for Nevermore too handle.

He turned into a shadow and left the room, picked up the picture that he was holding before, and left.

Swift knew what had happened. She left and started to look for Nevermore.

Back on Earth, the Titans were sleeping. Raven had woken up with a start.

She had a dream. In this dream, there was a huge field. It reached very far. In the middle of the field was a stray tree. Suddenly her view changed and she moved closer to the tree. She was seeing things from someone elses point of view. Her view changed and she saw that there was a picture in front of her.

It was a picture of a family, but what stood out most was a small boy that reminded her a lot of Nevermore. The focus on the picture changed and she could see a reflection in the picture.

It was Nevermore.

At that point, she woke up. She now knew that Nevermore was okay. She left her room, and went to the control room. She had an idea of where Nevermore was. She put a hand on the giant screen on the wall and focused. She was putting information about Azarath on the scanners. Suddenly, there was a beeping sound.

Raven looked up. There was a map of Azarath on the screen, and on the map was a red dot.

Nevermore was on Azarath.

Raven keyed something on the keyboard and suddenly the alarm went off.

All the Titans were wakened by the loud siren and annoying red lights. They were all in the control room as soon as possible.

"What's the trouble?" Robin said.

"No trouble," Raven said, "I just found Nevermore." A rare smile appeared on her face.

Back on Azarath, Nevermore was sitting under a now familiar tree. He used to play on this tree. He would climb up and spend hours in it with rather his sister or Swift. One time he stayed three whole days in the tree because he thought he was a bird. A small smile appeared on his face at this memory, but it quickly.

He picked up the picture that he was holding and blew the dust off of it. He saw a picture of his family when he was younger. His mother was tall and had long blonde hair. His father was shorter than Nevermore's mother, and he had incredibly dark hair. Again he saw his sister, but she was covering one of Nevermore's eyes so that he wouldn't accidently break the camera. Nevermore saw himself. He looked the same, except his hair was lighter and and shorter. He was shorter too of course.

"I wish I knew what happened to you," Nevermore said, staring at his family that he never knew.

"They were killed," Swift had found Nevermore, "They sent you away before you were killed too."

"But why didn't they leave too?" Nevermore said, not moving his head from the picture.

"They knew that it you be easier for them to find you if they did."

"Why didn't they at least try to hide?" Nevermore said, his voice rising dangerously.

"They thought that whoever threatened them knew that you had gotten rid of you," Swift said, "They sent you to earth to keep you safe."

"But why didn't they at least give me anything to remember them by," Nevermore threw the picture down shattering the glass, "Why did they just abandon me?" Nevermore ran away. He didn't know where to run to, but he didn't care. He never cared and it tortured him. He hated his family, he hated himself. He just wanted to go back to his old life with the Titans.

Swift picked up the picture that Nevermore threw. She would talk to him when he was ready to talk.

Swift had gone back home, and told Temton what had happened.

"So he just remembered his past," Temton said, "Well, I guess that his reaction was expected."

"But how are we going to find him, I mean, he just ran away without giving any indication of where he was going." Swift said.

Temton was about to answer, when a screen nearby started beeping.

Back on Earth, the Titans were watching as Raven used her powers to try and contact someone on Azarath.

"I think that we made contact!" Raven said.

The screen flickered and an old man apeared on screen.

"Hello?" the man said, "Who are you?"

"I'm Raven of Azarath, and these are my friends. We think that our other friend might be on Azarath, have you seen him?" Raven said.

"I am called Temton. You're not the only one who's looking for him," Temton said, "Swift here just said that he ran off without saying anything about where he was going."

All the Titans showed disappointment. Suddenly Beast Boy rose his head.

"Hey! Since Raven can make this stuff connect to this Azarath place, why can't it work on our communicators?"

"That is the smartest thing that you've ever said in your life," Raven said.

She took out her communicator and used her powers to try to contact Nevermore. The Titans waited for a second and suddenly two purple eyes appeared on the screen.

"Nevermore?" Raven asked.

"Rae?" Nevermore asked. He sounded surprised.

"Where are you?" Raven asked.

"Well, I found a series of tunnels and thought that there might be a way home, but every tunnel I take leads me to a wierder dimension," Nevermore said, "I remember going through here when I was really little, but I can't remember the exact way to Earth."

Temton appeared on Nevermore's communicator.

"Nevermore, I'm sending Swift over there to help you find your way," the old man said.

"I'm on my way Nevermore, stay where you are," Swift said.

"That's easier said than done," there was sounds in the background, "I've got to go. Call you when I get out of here. Hey! Don't bite!" Suddenly the screen went dark.

"Swift hurry, he may need help," Temton said urgently, "I'm going to give you a sword that will shine in the darkness, so you will be able to see, and protect yourself."

Temton handed Swift a sword. It was a long sword, but it was incredibly light. It had swirling marks all the way from the sword hilt to the tip of the sword.

Swift swung the sword to test it. It seemed like it was made for her.

"I will return it when I have accomplished the task that had been appointed to me," Swift said, sheathing the sword. Swift ran out the door and to the demensional caves that Nevermore had found.

Nevermore had run into strange creatures. They looked like people, except for the fact that they had red eyes and had spikes coming out of there backs. They had spikes on their knuckles too. At first they tried to bite Nevermore but he pulled out his katars and started attacking and blocking. Each time he defeted one of them, another would appear out of the darkness. There were endless amounts of them. Nevermore didn't know how long he could keep it up.

Swift was on her way to the caves and she was almost there, when Skeith cut her off.

"Out of my way Skeith," Swift said menecingly.

"No," Skeith said, "Since your friend is nowhere to be found, I'll just have to defeat you."

Swift and Skeith got ready for battle. Swift would have to make quick work of Skeith if she was going to help Nevermore.

Back at Titans Tower, the alarm went off. The H.I.V.E. had been spotted clearing out an area of the forest. They were obviously building a new academy. The Titans left to attend a battle of their own.

I cut you off right before the final battle.:evil:

Chapter Twenty-six
Final Battles

Skeith charged at Swift, sword raised and ready to swing. Swift blocked the attack with her new sword. Skeith kept attacking, but Swift kept blocking.

Swift struck at Skeith, and Skeith blocked. Their blades were locked. They were trying to push eachother back. Skeith started to win. Swift was forced onto her knees. Her head was down and she was trying to concentrate.

Suddenly she fell forward.

Swift looked up to see Temton holding his walking stick at Skeith.

"Swift go, I can handle this pitiful youth," Temton said.

Swift got up and ran into the tunnels.

Skeith got up. He wiped the blood from his mouth and yelled, "We'll see if you can handle my incredible skills."

Temton just stood still as Skeith charged. When Skeith struck, Temton sidestepped it and hit Skeith in the back. Skeith fell. He quickly got up and swung at the old man. Temton blocked the sword, but it snapped his walking stick in half.

"I've got you now, old man," Skeith said, and he thrust his sword at Temton's face.

Temton caught the sword between his hands. "Show some respect to your elders!" he yelled. He then snapped the blade in half as if it was just a twig.

Skeith ran in fear as Temton charged at him.

Back in the cave, Nevermore was barely keeping up with the strange creatures. He was now striking two down at a time. He had a bunch of cuts and gashes in his body, but he wasn't going to give up. He had just found out where he belongs, and he wasn't going to give up now.

Suddenly he was hit in the back of the head and fell. He turned around to see another one of the deformed creatures about to strike him.

A sword suddenly appeared from the creature's stomach, and then disappeared. The monster fell over, revealing Swift.

"Uh, thanks," Nevermore said. He didn't have to be a shadow to see in the dark anymore because Swift's sword lighted up the entire tunnel. "Nice sword."

"Thanks," Swift said, striking down another two enemies with her new sword.

They kept fighting until the wierd creatures stopped.

"Why'd they stop?" Nevermore said, a worried look on his face.

Suddenly, there was a pounding sound. It got louder and louder until something appeared in the tunnel.

It was a brown creature with red eyes, it's body covered in spikes, and where there wasn't spikes, there was brown skin visible. It was almost as big as the tunnel itself. All the other creatures fled past Nevermore and Swift as it approched.

"I have a bad feeling about this," Nevermore said.

The gargantuan monster punched the ground. The ground shook violently as ruble fell from the ceiling and walls. Nevermore used his powers to turn himself and Swift into a shadow.

When Nevermore and Swift reappeared, the tunnel seemed bigger.

"If you ever want to get home, you'll have to go past him somehow," Swift said, with worry in her voice.

"Well then, what are we waiting for?" Nevermore asked, raising his katars with a smile on his face.

The charged at the monster and the monster swung at them. The friends stalled so that they didn't run into the monsters attack. When the monster stopped attacking to see the damage, he was welcomed be the sight of a sword coming right at him.

The sword struck with much force, that the monster fell over.

"Huh, that was easy," Swift said.

Suddenly the monster got up. It's face was naturally armored. He pounded the ground again, but with more force than last time. Nevermore lost balance, and couldn't use his powers for a second. That was all the time that the monster needed. It threw a boulder at Swift and hit her. She flew for a good distance, but stopped when another boulder landed on her leg. She fell to the ground and realized how much pain she was in. She could have used her powers, but it was to hard to concentrate.

Nevermore was grabbed by the creature, and was lifted of the ground. The monster held him tight. Nevermore couldn't escape, no matter what he did.

The monster started to smell him, and started licking his lips. It opened its mouth.

Nevermore could have thrown up at the sight. The mouth had green teeth, a blue tongue with mold on it, saliva dripping everywhere, and a horrible oder that not even a hundred long dead animals could even amount to.

Swift saw what was about to happen. The monster was going to eat Nevermore!!! She suddenly forgot about the pain in her leg. She concentrated on saving Nevermore. Suddenly the boulder that was pinning her leg to the ground rose and flew at the giant beast's mouth.

Nevermore found himself on the ground. He was looking at a comical sight.

The monster had a boulder stuck in its mouth, and it couldn't get it out. The
creature tried as hard as he could to get it out, but he couldn't.

"Go!" Swift yelled.

Nevermore ran down the tunnel and around the corner, out of sight of Swift and the monster.

The monster had just gotten the boulder out of its mouth when Nevermore disappeared. Tears swelled in its eyes when it had realized that it lost its meal. Suddenly he saw Swift. He was angry at her and he charged.

Swift was having trouble dodging the giant fists that were flying at her. She kept on jumping and dodging, but she eventually got tired, and the monster hit her. Swift went flying and landed with a thud. She couldn't move, and the monster was right in front of her, ready to crush her under its fists.

Swift closed her eyes, not wanting to see her fate. She waited there for what seemed like an eternity. There was a loud thud, but nothing had happened.

She opened her eyes to see Nevermore holding a hand out to her.

"You stayed?" Swift said, looking at the monster that was just slain.

"You save my life and I save your's," Nevermore said. "Besides, I had to get back at him for trying to eat me."

Swift laughed at this statement. "Is there any other reasons?" she asked with a smile on her face.

"Uh, yeah. I don't know the way," Nevermore said.

Swift's smile suddenly was replaced by a look of embarassment. "Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot."

"It's okay as long as you get me back," Nevermore said.

As Swift walked by the monster, she saw that it's neck had been slit. Its face was protected, but its neck wasn't. She quickly led Nevermore down the winding tunnels to the one that would lead him home.

Back on Earth, the Titans were easily defeating the H.I.V.E. Since Cy knew about their techniques, Brother Blood ordered the agents into a retreat, but told Jynx, Mammoth, and Gizmo to stay and fight.

The Titans had just finished them of, when they were knocked off there feet by a huge gust of wind.

The Titans got up to see the rest of the H.I.V.E. agents running away.

They started chasing the escaping criminals, when another gust of wind knocked them off their feet. This time, however, they saw the cause.

The raven was back.

"Hey look," Beast Boy said, "Its the freaky talking raven!"

"I'm not freaky, and you know, you can call me Quoth," the bird said.

Robin saw this as a chance to attack. He threw an exploding disk at Quoth, but Quoth threw some feathers at the incoming projectile, causing it to explode.

When the explosion had subsided, Quoth flew at Robin, and rammed into him with considerable force, leaving a gash were the beak hit. Quoth then flew at Star, and hit her as well, because she was checking to see if Robin was okay. Cyborg shot a sonic blast at the bird, but Quoth dodged it and threw numerous feathers at Cy. All of them hit, piercing Cyborg in countless places.

Beast Boy turned into an eagle and struck at the raven with his talons. Quoth was hit, but it didn't seem to hurt him that much. He just hit BB with his talons, but with more force than Beast Boy.

Now Quoth was getting ready to attack Raven. He shot many feathers at her.

Raven brought up a shield of black crackling energy to block it, but it was blocked by something else.

Nevermore had just appeared out of nowhere. He used his katars, and blocked every feather. Quoth tried flying at Nevermore, but Nevermore just sidestepped every time. Finally, Quoth used his powerful wings to blow huge gusts of wind at Nevermore, knocking him off his feet.

Quoth took this chace to pin Nevermore on the ground again with his feathers. He threw many feathers at Nevermore, pinning his arms and legs.

Nevermore couldn't move.

"This time, I'll kill you instead of sending you to another demension!" Quoth yelled.

"Not this time," Nevermore said. He moved his head sharply, causing the hair to move from his raven eye. Now both of his eyes were visible.

His normal eye suddenly became totally black. The feathers that pinned him moved away, and he got up. His hair rose and a wind suddenly picked up.

Suddenly, purple lightning struck Quoth, it then hit Nevermore. They suddenly disappeared.

"Where'd they go?" BB asked.

"Nevermore caused that, so they're probably in a place that Nevermore knows well," Raven said.

Nevermore and Quoth were in a clouded arena. Obviously the cloud where the lightning came from.

"I've learned how this works now, raven," Nevermore said, pointing to his raven eye.

Quoth was frightened. Nevermore had discovered a powerful new power. He desperately fired feathers, but Nevermore just blocked them. Quoth remembered how well the gusts of wind worked, and he used that.

Nevermore uncovered his eyes again, and the wind suddenly started to swirl.

It became a tornado. It moved toward Quoth.

Quoth tried to escape the tornado, but he was too weak, and was sucked in.

He was spun around many times until he was thrown out of the cloud and back to the ground with tremendous force.

The Titans saw Quoth falling to the ground, not to far ahead, and they ran to the spot. Nevermore decended from the cloud and landed near Quoth.

"Are you okay?" Robin asked.

"Well let's see. I've been cursed, controlled, been sent to another demension, found out that my parents were assasinated, and almost got eaten. Yeah, I'm good," Nevermore said with a smile on his face.

Raven held Quoth tight with her powers, so he wouldn't get away, as they made their way to the jail.

All of Nevermore's enemies were finally defeated.

The Epilogue is next.

VERY good Story nevermore, i enjoyed it alot!:)
My favorite line is...

The moment that you all have been waiting for....

EPILOGUE

It was a few hours since Nevermore told what had happened to him. As usual, Beast Boy gave some rude comments. He had to answer a lot of questions too. When he had finished, Raven had just left while the other Titans just kept asking questions. Nevermore found Raven on the roof, but she wasn't meditating like she would normally do.

"What's on your mind?" Nevermore asked. He knew when someone was troubled.

"A lot of things," Raven said simply.

"Name one," Nevermore said.

"After hearing your story, I can't see how you can be happy," Raven said.

Nevermore thought for a while before speaking. "I'm happy because I feel excepted."

"What do you mean? You could just ignore your powers, and live a normal life," Raven said, not knowing what Nevermore meant.

"I'll show you. Hold my hand for a sec. Don't worry, it's not a trick," Nevermore said, holding a hand out.

"This had better not," Raven said as she hesitantly took the awaiting hand.

Nevermore changed his hand into a shadow. Raven felt how cold it was. It was the coldest thing that she had ever felt.

"You see, I can't ignore my powers, because I am not completely human. I know that I am not human on the inside and that hurts most of all. I can't live a normal life because of the cold feeling inside," Nevermore said, "But when I'm here, I feel normal. I know that you guys aren't completely normal too. It's because of that, that I stay. You guys treat me different than I have ever been treated before."

"What do you mean?" Raven asked, still holding Nevermore's hand.

"You treat me like I'm normal. How can I not feel happy when I am with you?" Nevermore said with a smile on his face.

Raven had a strange feeling inside and let go of Nevermore's hand. She couldn't stop the smile that appeared on her face.

Nevermore smiled too. He felt the same strange feeling, but he didn't want to say anything. He knew what it was. He always had this feeling whenever he thought about Raven.

"Nevermore?" Raven said.

"Yeah," Nevermore said.

"If you aren't all human, then what are you?" Raven asked.

"Well, when I'm not human, I am the ultimate darkness," Nevermore said, standing up in a heroic pose.

"Yeah right," Raven said, as she pushed Nevermore over.

"Okay, okay. I guess that I am just, a shadow," Nevermore said, a bigger smile appearing on his face.

Nevermore and Raven stayed on the roof, and watched the sun set. All their worries, forgotten.

The End

All right, I'm not sure if that was good or not. I'm not good at ending stories.
