It's things like this that make me hate the 90's.
Actually, it seems (from the way the kids are dressed) that strikes me as feeling more "late 80's spillover" culturally-speaking (the neon-colored clothing of the kids, the probably-old-school-"Public Enemy"-era style rap that's probably suggested, etc.). And as long-time Toonzoners know, I hate the 80's (but liked the 90's).
There was a Fruity Pebbles commercial about 10-15 years ago where Barney's dressed as a rapper (IIRC, complete with 80's-style oversized clock-necklace, sneakers(!), a jacket, sunglasses, and a hat) and tries to trick Fred via rapping (with a sunglasses-wearing Dino as his backup/manning the bird-needle turntable to do the scratchy-noises-thing). I thought it was funny (as did the local R&B radio station---WGCI in Chicago---since the DJ mentioned this ad on the air....).
Yogi and rap, on the other hand, dredges up unpleasant memories of "Yo Yogi," which dredges up the worst of it all: The appearance of the teenaged Magilla Gorilla as rap superstar "Magilla Ice". *Shudder*...

Y'know, Brainie, the Y!Y thing was to make them "teeangers", but it's kinda like that "Baby Piglet" that DIsney reputedly tried--I always assumed that Yogi and Boo Boo WERE teenagers--Yogi 'bouty colege age and Boo BOo 14, even youngert. (Yogi certainly ACTED like a G rated squeaky clean version of that Stifler character on AMERICASN PIE (Seann WIlliam Scott) with a borderline Art Carney/"Ed NJorton" infleciuton in many of those, almost like a G rated ANIMAL HOUSER going into girls dorms with that pie stealing shtick of his. In those I always assumed Yogi to be under 20,despite his deep baritone "helllloo Mr.Ranger" voice charaterization. )
