Sorry if this is two days past, but I just wanted to remind you all that "The Wacky Races: The Complete Series" is now out on DVD.
There is one thing that I wanted to find out, about their closing theme. It's a 90-to-1 shot that they might've put in the original dialog that was heard only on the network TV airings of the show. I can see why they took it off during CN and Boomerang reruns, for obvious reasons...
Announcer: "Hey, wait a minute... STOP! ( cars crash ) This race starts next week."
Dastardly: "Next week? That means I'll get a good start on the others!"
Anyhow, I'm just wondering if they'd bothered putting that back in or not. Happy viewing. :anime:

This week, I purchased the "Wacky Races" DVD set. Observations:
As promised, a complete compilation of all the show's episodes.
Some of the episodes' end credits have the voiceover ("STOP! ...This race starts *next week*..."), while others are the silent variety as seen in CN's "Boomerang on CN" airing of the show.
Extras include the bumper showing the racers tuning up their cars and asking us to "stay tuned for part two" (which I last saw in the syndicated reruns back in the 80's), interviews/commentaries (on a few episodes) with Iwao Takamoto, Scott Shaw, Paul "Batman:TAS" Dini, and a few others, a retrospective on the series, and a look at the spinoffs "Perils of Penelope Pitstop" and "Dastardly and Muttley In Their Flying Machines."
The episodes are divided up into their individual 11-minute cartoon segments, with the opening and closing credits attached to each one. The H-B logo at the end isn't the original late 60's one, but the "montage of various characters and closing on Fred/a gong noise" one from the 90's.
As for this show itself, just as we all remember it... and as nicely cleaned up as possible for this DVD I guess (a lot nicer looking than CN's prints of the show).
Finally: yes, Dick would've won if he'd just kept driving. :-)

Bought my copy last Monday from Wal-Mart. :D
And whereas the rest of the 11-minute shows are framed in between main and end title credits, only the first 2 shows---"See Saw To Arkansas" and "Creepy Trip To Lemon Twist", the ones which feature the trivia track---are presented full-length, complete with original late 60's HB "box" logo and Worldvision Enterprises logo following the closing credits! Worth every drachma.

I bought my copy at Costco for $19.99, and I'll get $5 back after I buy another participating DVD set or two. The first two eps on Disc 1 include a "Selectable Factoids" option which include various info about the show. My favorite is the one at the end of "Creepy Trip to Lemon Twist," which gives a complete summary of 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishes for each of the racers. It is consistent with the summary at http://www.hotink.com/wacky/wrguide.html. I used the summary to compute an official ranking of the racers, with surprising results. I've posted the ranking on other message boards and will reproduce it here if you wish.

I'm not 100% sure if I'll buy this or not. I'm tempted to buy it but I hated Wacky Races last time I saw it 3 years ago. Should I, guys?
