Superman II: The Donner Cut?

Hey,

Anyone who's seen the Superman: The Movie DVD will know about Richard Donner being fired in the middle of the production of the sequel. Richard Lester, the new director came along and retold the original story, and re shot several scenes.

There's been rumours of seeing a Donner cut on DVD apprantly, does anyone know of the updates on this at all, or have any information on the release? From the sounds of things, this release is far better than the one we got.

I know Donner wants to do it, but Warner Bros. isn't budging. There was an online petition going around, don't know far it got. Last update on this was from three years ago, don't hold your breath.

So there's 2 versions of Superman 2??More along the lines of 1 1/2. Donner was pulled before he could shoot the Metropolis battle sequence.
