Umm, well, I like the new-style cards AS uses for its Saturday shows. Surprisingly that elevator-music-playing-over-a-heavily-Photoshopped-image bumpers do good to set the tone for the shows ahead, IMO.

Hmm. So Shanks is voiced by the son of Michael Goz (son of Harry).

That I did not know.

anime ratings...the hell?

Futurama- 470,000
Trigun- 383,000
Cowboy Bebop- 380,000

edit: gah...sorry, got beat out on this one. =/

That's, really... weird. Well, those are excellent ratings for 1 AM airings of Bebop and Trigun. If the other shows weren't very far behind those numbers then at least their ratings were decent as well (i.e. over 350,000). We have no way of knowing though.

Despite the weirdness, everything's still doing better than it was pre-infusion. I'm just worried people are going to start heading back to SNL now. :(

Well Sunday certainly has been the usual stuff. Family Guy leading the way with Birdman and ATHF right behind it. Nice ratings.

Saturday.. I am clueless.. How the hell Trigun pops out of nowhere to be in the top 3, same with Bebop.. Just weird. Plain freaky. Hopefully the other shows IY, VB and WR aren't too far behind..

I'd like to welcome Bebop to the ratings list as this was its first appearance :)

Futurama was up from last week but still not back to its normal 500,000's. Family guy was up up up and Birdman has a new personal highest rating :)

Now that is what I call odd. I guess Venture Bros. run in the top 3 ended at 1. Well, that is still good news for late night anime fans.

Well... um...

The next ratings report will show off the battle of SNL VS ASA, but this one?

I didn't know cable went off from 12:00 to 1:00AM last Saturday...

The other odd thing is that Trigun beat Bebop, even though Trigun is on later.

anime ratings...the hell?

Futurama- 470,000
Trigun- 383,000
Cowboy Bebop- 380,000 With Toonami being anime-less last weekend, Inu-Yasha starting a filler arc and Wolf's Rain reaching the OAV episodes (with the final episode definitely disappointing a lot of people), the lack of Inu-Yasha and Wolf's Rain in the top three is understandable (with it being even more understandable next week, considering how last night was the season premiere of SNL).

With Toonami being anime-less last weekend, Inu-Yasha starting a filler arc and Wolf's Rain reaching the OAV episodes

Considering Toonami no longer leads into Adult Swim anime, I'm not sure how that would affect it. Also, how would the majority of Inu-yasha viewers know which episodes are filler? I would guess Saturday Night Live was taking the ratings and people switched to Adult Swim afterwards...but that still doesn't explain why Trigun got better ratings than Bebop. Hmmm...maybe everyone was just out partying and got home at like 1:30.

Trigun might have a bigger fanbase then Bebop since this is the second time Trigun made the list and since it was on after Bebop in both cases :) oh and this was the first time IY wasn't in the top 3  I find it hard to believe anime fans and regular viewers would give up long running serialized series for something else out of the blue  I wonder if maybe the 3 am IY & WR numbers might have been up?

William C. Maune
10-04-2004, 02:13 AM
I think this may have actually been Bebop's second time to make the top 3, if we count Sunday. Back when the last hour of Sunday was anime I believe there was a week where the top three were:

1) Mission Hill
2) Cowboy Bebop
3) Lupin

There was some other big television event that Sunday likely keeping many viewers from tuning in until the last half of the line up.

Ok, so now people are worried about competition from SNL.
Since Venture Bros is the show they have the most invested in, maybe it should have a slot that isn't in conflict with it.
Anyone still in favor doing a VB/Futurama switch?

Sketch
10-04-2004, 02:40 AM
They are switching next week (or so they say).

Trigun beat everything but Futurama and it's at 1:30AM. Seriously... that's impressive. Followed by Bebop which is a half hour before it.

Wow... what happened to Inuyasha. It's off the map.

Wow... what happened to Inuyasha. It's off the map.

It's not necessarily off the map, just not in the top 3. It could still have garnered, say, 370,000. We have no idea though.

I'm sure it's in the 300,000's somewhere... but to be beaten by two shows no one really expected to make any kind of comeback (though they had loyal fanbases). Is something else.

Last week was also the start of the filler arc, so some people could have decided to tune out while its going on.

Trigun might have a bigger fanbase then Bebop...
I can't imagine that's true. I know Trigun has a lot of fans, but come on, more than Bebop? I doubt it.

One possible explanation is that CB has had many, many, many more full runs than Trigun has. There may be a lot of people who haven't seen all of Trigun yet, or have only seen it once. Most people who watch AS with any regularity have likely seen most CB episodes multiple times.
