Monarchs lab is loltastic too.

a good , good episode. though i have my doubts the flavor of the freezer pop mister helper gave the kid.. is anything remotely unpoisonous.

Pretty great episode again, consistent with the past bunch. Loved the whole Tick style lame ass villain who thinks he's a badass. The Smurf debate was so perfect in capturing that nerd argument vibe especially with the exasperated "OH MY GOD". I'm also ashamed to say this but Doctor Girlfriend is hot :( At least she has that voice which puts you off.

The teste stuff was painful but funny. Billy and that Other guy played off each other well. Glad they didn't go for some lame erection joke with Triana.

Bonus points for that great PSA. Loved Doc Ventures delivery on lines like "Blood in your semen!" and the way Brocks eyes followed the teleprompter.

I was wondering why there was no talkback for the best show on the block right now.

Anyways, hilarious as always. The "birthday party" at Monarch's was definetely the highlight of the episode, although the PSA at the end was a nice touch as well.

If you missed it: http://www.scrotalsafetycommission.com/ It seems pretty empty, though.

That was great episode. Though i'm not a big fan of testes jokes(Even though I'm not a male), the story was really good. It is kinda sad that the Monarch is only after Dr.Venture and not ploting for World conquest. It was funny the way everyone scramble when Dr.Venture called.

Now THIS is more like it.

This week's VB came out swining and hot more often than it missed. I wasn't too crazy about the Dean business (tho it had some golden lines) but the stuff with the Monarch owned. There's something so absolutely hysterical about the fact that not even the easily-terrified Venture boys take the Monarch seriously anymore and delight in punching holes in his boat.

The high points--Brock slaughtering the Monarch's goons as a favour to him, the stuff from the book, Monarch tormenting Hank, the REAL goings-on in Monarch central (it's like any office, anywhere. Only with butterfly outfits) the "smurfs don't lay eggs" argument (man, the hechmen really steal this show sometimes) Brock turning down Dr. Girlfriend, and the whole damn PSA at the end, which started good and once Brock chimed in became a thing of joy that everyone can be pleased with and which will hopefully bring us closer together as a nation.

SO much better than "Mid-Life Chrysalis." A

The Venture Brothers gets funnier each week it seems... And those testicle torsion jokes made me laugh, and maybe cry a little on the inside at the thought. I mean, ouch.

Good episode. I enjoyed the whole "testicle problems" that Dean had. It's interesting but, this episode had more bleeps in it. Hopefully it'll be unbleeped when the first season comes out next year. I loved the public service announcement.

The only thing that brought this episode down.....heck, the only thing that brought this show down was Dr. Venture himself. He's just...there. Still, this show is great. I'm definately gonna tune in each week to catch it.

Not only was the episode pure gold, but the website is just as funny,

Bicycles are still legal in many states. Those of you that still insist on riding them should purchase a groin-helmet. These devices come in many colors and wind resistant shapes. Shop around to find the perfect groin-helmet for your needs. Plan a fun get-together with friends to decorate your groin-helmet with decals and "realistic battle damage".
Watch out for cancer.
Enlist one of your friends as a "Crotch-Buddy". Have him concern himself with the safety of your scrotum. Remind him publicly that he is your "Crotch-Buddy". Remind him in front of girls.
Check better informed websites for information about your scrotum. This one is not very good and may well be full of extremely bad ideas. Remember: An informed scrotum owner is a safe scrotum owner.

Another hilarious episode, mostly because of The Monarch and Co. Dean's side of the story was pretty funny too. The ending was humorous and help complete an overall great episode.

I give Are You There God? It's me, Dean an A+. The whole thing kept me laughing almost all the time up to the very end.

Scythemantis

Yeah, thanks Matt. I know how annoying it is to have to suddenly do everyone else's job over and over.

I thought Monarch's not-unfriendly interaction with Brock and Hank (and their thoughts on him and his forces) were the highlight of the episode. Monarch's forces once again stole the hell out of the spotlight.

Incidentally, the Candiru does exist, and there have been proven cases of it entering a swimmer's urethra (accidentally, though. It's supposed to enter the gills of bigger fish and drink blood)

Awesome episode. I would so watch Dr. Girlfriend hentai! She has got some curves on her.

And there were so many good lines in this episode. "Da-ad, please don't feel me up." Excellent.

Here's The Straight Dope on the candiru (http://www.straightdope.com/columns/000519.html) fish.

Artimus Gigan

That ninja line was funny

It's like two ninjas taped togther to form on big ninja!

oh and the candiru fish is attracted to ammonia

it swims up the genetals mainly because urine has high ammounts of ammonia in it

oh and to surgicly remove it is pretty much using luck, they have to chop the works open remove it, sew it back togther and hope everything works there after

that's why you should never pee in the water

"Alright. Thank you...Bye-bye."
"Bye-bye?"
"He said it first, then it just kind of slipped out."

Little "everyday" dialogue like this that's seamlessly worked into the show works really well. I think that's one of the things the show does best.

I really liked this episode, but I don't think it was one of the best. It felt like it was missing something, though I'm not sure what.

The testicular torsion really hurts. I had it happen to me. Took a couple of weeks before it came undone...thank goodness my friend is in the medical field. I would cry if i had to go to a real doctor.

Anyways the ep was great. I can't wait for the dvd set.

Great episode,,the stuff with monarch's minions arguing about the smurfs was ROFLMAO. However, i dont get the significance of the ep title,,i know what its a parody of (the book "are you there God? Its me, Margaret"), but it doesnt make sense really, since the aforementioned book is about a girl having her period. Its not a big deal, its just a silly parody title, just thinking (personally,,i would have used "deans twisted test" or something like that).

After all the gut-busting stuff that happened, the sight of Brock reading the teleprompter in the PSA while putting emphasis on the wrong words had me howling.

"That's right, DOC!"

The Monarch was pathetically hilarious as usual, but I can't believe Brock didn't jump Dr. Girlfriend, ladies' man that he is ... And I also can't wait to see what 's next for this show.

Premote Sampo to mod!

The "fish eating member" thing was weird. And having that sexy yet male-sounding model...was...WTFIT? (What the **** is that?) That's the Monarch's girlfriend??

Kinda funny with the Dean/Dr. Venture thing when he was trying to get Dean to pull his pants down.

"Don't feel me up Dad!"
"I'm not going to feel you up, I'm going to palpate your penis."
(That's what I do remember)

I think I figured out where the "Venture Brothers" came from. After watching this episode a couple of times, I heard Dr. Venture say that "I could have fixed this in the prototype phase." He was reffering to Dean's scrotum malfunction. It just makes me think that the boys were clones, or test tube babies. Maybe that is why they don't know who their mother is.

raykremer
10-04-2004, 01:11 AM
Oddly enough, I once saw a random sitcom episode in which a guy had the spun testicle problem.

Though genital malfunctions are certainly off-color, at least it was the basis for one of the main plots of the episode rather than the usual cringe-worthy things thrown in as one-liners. The Monarach's-hideout plot is what made the episode though.

more Monarch? :( ok he isn't overused yet :) I wonder why Dr Venture didn't recognize Dr Girlfriend? Monarchs boring base was funny he sure is a second rate villian! the PSA thing at the end was a surprise and a funny one! Brock sure was stressing to get his line out!

Oh man... I have to splice some of Deans dialogue together with new TMNT cartoon footage. Classic stuff.

Great stuff from Venture, Brock, Dean, Dr. Girlfriend, Billy, The Monarch, and Dr. Girlfriend.

Gotta love Brock causing havok just to make things more interesting and then everyone trying to cover it up.

The PSA at the end... :anime:

I haven't laughed so hard at a show for a while.

Highlights:
-The beginning, with the supervillain rulebook and "What are you, Obi-Wan Kenobi?"
-"Look under M for MONARCH!" *dramatic sting* "It's not there." "Well, look under T for THE MONARCH!" *dramatic sting*
-The henchmen's nerdy conversation, especially the smurf discussion, stole the show.
-"It's like two ninjas taped together!"
-Cleaning up frantically when Dr. Venture called
-Too much more to type.. :D

I loved the episode as well, but a few things I can't just get behind.

One was the smurf discussion, it was tweaked a little, but anyone that saw the masterpiece of cinema that is "Donnie Darko" can tell you they ripped off that entire conversation.

Two was the Dr. Girlfriend thing, what was up with the voice? I must have missed a previous episode.

Other than, that show is pure gold. I never get tired of Brock Samson. Truly a hero for all the kiddies out there. Hell, I'd want MY kid to grow up to be like Brock Samson, wouldn't you?

Other than arguing about Smurfs and reproduction, they're pretty different. One was about the sexual habits of the Smurfs, the other was about the kind of species they were.

Why wouldn't other mods pop in, they are all watching Adult Swim and want to comment on the block. :)

And to be sure we aren't perfect, that is why we noted in the FAQ that if we miss an episode talkback any member (mod or otherwise can post it) It has happened before...but that is very infrequent.

I think it has to do with Michael Sinterniklaass being the voice of both Dean Venture and Leonardo in the new TMNT.

Anyway, solid episode. Venture Bros. is the most consistently funny show on Adult Swim right now.

And it hasn't occured to you that Donnie Darko had such a conversation because such conversations have been going on ever since the CREATION of the smurfs? I was having lighthearted arguments about their classification and reproduction years before the film ever existed.

Regardless of how smurfs smurf in the smurf, this episode was smurftastic. Not the best of the season, but I really didn't expect it to really be non-stop improvement. There really wasn't any bad jokes or missed opportunities at all.

Gotta listen to some of Leo's less "notable" moments. Ya know when he's NOT trying to sound all "manly". Still wouldn't work as well as using some of chibi Knives dialogue in a Digimon or Duel Masters episode though. :anime:

G1Ravage, "Mid Life Chrysalis" was very early in the episode production numbers. Not that it means much but I would assume it doesn't matter when either episode aired because Venture knew what Dr. Girlfriend looked like even before she tricked him. Don't you know in cartoons the slightest change can make it impossible to tell who someone is.

I never understood the praise for Green Ranger/WHITE RANGER. The man needed to cut his hair.

David Lucas
10-08-2004, 03:00 AM
Don't combine those, White Ranger was the start of the downfall. Even Green Ranger to a point, when he was under the spell of Rita Repulsa and had The Sword Of Darkness (such original imaginations, right?) and was goin around fighting everyone and screwing up Zordon, now that's what I'm talking about.

I never understood the praise for him post-evil era, the character just wasn't that cool anymore, and every episode he saved the day. I just have a thing for stories where the good guy turns bad and fights the other good guys, hence the horrible Darko comment.

Back on topic, this was a pretty funny episode now that I've watched it a few more times, I can see why AS was/is plugging it so much. Monarch and Brock need more scenes together, that combination's just too damn priceless.
