Since my bro and sis are using the Gamecube for Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon, I dusted off my N64 and took it to res with me. Now I've begun to hunt through previously-used displays for any games worth picking up.

Besides the obvious titles (GoldenEye, Zelda, etc), what N64 games do you recommend I try and find? What underrated classics (ex. Blast Corps) do you find enjoyable?

Mischief Makers and Space Station Silicon Valley. No real reason why, I just had real fun with those two.

Sin and Punishment. Its only had a Japanese release, so its damn near impossible to find, but hypitheticly speaking, if you can find it, buy it. You'll either have to rip apart your GCN or the cart to make it fit. But aside from a hardware lock out, there is no software region lock out.

Also, Paper Mario, Mystic Ninja, Jet Force Gemini, any Star Wars game, and I know there is a dozen more that I can't think of.

Banjo-Tooie, Banjo-Kazooie, and Conker's Bad Fur Day.

The only 6 N64 games I own are:
-Diddy Kong Racing
-Goldeneye
-Mario Kart 64
-Star Fox 64
-Super Mario 64
-Wave Race 64

I enjoy playing all of those, some (DKR) more than others (SF64), though.

Mischief Makers

Goddammit you beat me to it.

Anyway, play Rayman 2: The Great Escape if you haven't. Get it for the Dreamcast if you have that, however.

The Mystical Ninja's sequel Goemon's Great Adventure was even better then the first and it went back to it's side scrolling roots too. Unforunatly the intro song was scrapped from the U.S. version along with some other things or so I've heard.

An awesome underrated N64 game is Quest 64. You should give it a spin! It got many negative reviews but I thought it was awesome! I played it at my friend's house cause I don't own an N64.

I dont really care what other people think but I really enjoyed playing Quest 64. It did get a bad rap. It's like what happened to Zelda 2: the Adventures of Link, another game i like.

Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire
WCW/NWO: World Tour
WCW/NWO: Revenge
WWF: Wrestlemania 2000
WWF: No Mercy

They're all really good.

Gex 3 and Gex 64 but if you have a PS or like me a PS2 get them for PS as the N64 ones are missing the intro sequences and stuff, plus Gex's voice is weird.

That's probably why. It has a pretty cool combat system, but the story goes no where, there is NO character development, and the game has a fairly over powered magic system. I swear, when I got to the end, I was thinking, it would go on more, because I only powered up my elements half way, but NO! It ended very abruptly, for what seems like no reason at all.

Its not a terrible game, but it is a bad one. If its story went somewhere, and the last guy wasn't such a cake walk, it would be a good game.

The problem with naming good N64 games is that so many of its best titles (Wave Race, Smash Bros., F-Zero X, Mario Golf/Tennis) were one-upped by the Gamecube successors, essentially making the originals irrelevant. Although I'd second the recommendation for Mischief Makers, I really don't know many other titles. I suppose Ogre Battle 64 and Winback are both worth a look.

Even if you already have Smash Bros. Melee for the 'Cube, I highly recommend the original. It may not have the character count and the graphics may not be quite as shiny as its successor, and it may have fewer modes and levels, but sometimes, simplicity translates into elegance. It's just plain easier to see what's going on, and having fewer characters means it's easier to get into the nuts and bolts of each character's move sets and learn the nuances.

I also highly recommend Mario Tennis, one of the few great first-party N64 games that hasn't gotten a sequel yet. It takes a little while to get into, but it's a GREAT time, especially with four players. Somehow, more realistic tennis titles can never hold a candle in terms of pure fun factor to the goodness of bonking that little green ball back and forth with Donkey Kong, Boo, and the like. It's also the only game in which Baby Mario is a good addition. (-:

GET PAPER MARIO. It will be the best thing you will have ever done. After that you will get Jet Force Geminai. You need these games or you can't call yourself an N64 owner.

Rocket: Robot on Wheels is a great game, very underrated. Also, check out Star Wars Rogue Squadron, Killer Instinct Gold, Blast Corps, San Francisco Rush 2049 and Conker's Bad Fur Day. (i know some mentioned some already, but i agree)

-Mission Impossible, despite its flaws, is a very fun game.

-Mischief Makers I only rented, but I remember it as being fun, and having a cool final boss.

-Perfect Dark is an obvious choice.

-Conker's Bad Fur Day is a terrific game.

-The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask wasn't as epic as Ocarina of Time, but it has a creepy story all its own.

Thanks for the replies. A lot of the titles everyone's mentioned I already own (Rogue Squadron, Perfect Dark, Paper Mario, Conker's BFD, Shadows of the Empire, Banjo Kazooie/Tooie) I just wanted to save everyone the annoyance of listing out my collection. In the recent days I have added to my collection:

-Zelda: Ocarina of Time (never played this, amazing but true)
-Ridge Racer 64
-Killer Instinct Gold (Hyper Combo!)

Considering getting Space Station Silicon Valley (seems interesting), Mischief Makers (at least three recommendations in this thread so far), and Zelda: Majora's Mask. I want to add Mario Tennis/Golf and Smash Bros to the list as well, but for some reason those games still go upwards of $50 CDN in my area, pre-owned and all. Not sure why, unless it's a Nintendo thing...
