which one do you think is the better video game review show?

X-play,because its more funny.:D

Neither. Extended Play, the precursor to X-Play, rules all.

I haven't seen either yet. And I'm still waiting for someone who has seen both "Reviews on the Run" and "Judgment Day" to tell me what the differences are between them. :p

X-Play, because their reviews follow logic, and not the rantings of a professional idiot.

And unlike another G4 show, they wouldn't call Shenmue the 2nd worst game of all time.

No.... no I did not just hear that. Some... who.. WHO called Shenmue the 2nd worst game of all time?!?!?

X-Play >>>>>>>>>>> Judgement Day

And which of those guys spoke ill of Shenmue? It was that short retarded black haired dude, wasn't it.

If were talking information then Judgement Day. For comedy X-play.

If I'm not mistaken that would be Filter. In their defense though, they're top 10 lists are voted on by fans, so it would actually be the whole gaming community that didn't like it.

And coincidentally,

X-Play > the entire G4 lineup. It's THAT good.

You must be confusing information with dry humor, wasted sarcasm, and unneeded ranting.

XPlay > JD. The only reason I watch JD is becuase they talk about old games and they do at least one GBA game every episode.

I'll have to agree with that statement completely.

Adam Sessler is the coolest.

Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb (of X-Play) can get grating at times with their endless sarcasm and cynicism (I'm especially ticked off at how they did a big report live at the first Final Fantasy concert on American soil but didn't seem to respect the idea at all by the way they acted like all the fans of FF music were nerds, as if really loving a game's music somehow shows that you have too much time on your hands).

But I can barely stand to watch even a few minutes of Judgement Day.
And that one guy's Ribbit King review was pathetic, although at least the other guy was pretty sensible. "Okay, get this, you hit the frog and then you WATCH it jump around! That's all you do!" Yeah, no kidding, doofus. It's a GOLF game.

And besides... Morgan is friggin' hot.

Tommy and Vic of Judgement Day are idiots. Especially Tommy. I've yet to see one game that Tommy likes. You'd think someone who produces game music would know something about video games, but the only games he ever give anything remotely close to respect to, are platformers. I mean, he hates everything. Ever notice that Victor interviews everyone on Electric Playground?

Meanwhile, Adam and Morgan of X-Play may act like idiots, but I think every score they've ever given a game is reasonable. Adam completely dispises turn-based RPGs, and Morgan thinks the FF series is highly overrated, but they still give FF games decent reviews. They review games relative to their genres and consoles (ie. they don't put GBA games on the same scale as X-Box). You've got to respect that.

Plus Adam and Morgan are just plain funnier. They have sketches.

Oh, and Morgan and I share a last name.

X-Play is deffinitely much better. Based on the well known fact that Tommy is a complete assclown. His reviews are complete crap. Show would be so much better if it were Vic without Tommy.

Defenantly X-Play is the better show. I don't enjoy Judgment Day that much because of Tommy like a bunch of other people said. Morgan and Adam may act goofy(Adam really acts goofy) but there a lot more entertaining. And I agree that Morgan is seriously hot.

X-Play is the best. Morgan and Adam can be corny sometimes but they're often actually funny and the reviews are well done. Morgan is cute and I love how they bait Dragonball Z and Final Fantasy fans.

Judgement Day is reasonably watchable if you realize that Tommy is a professional idiot, he bases his reviews on random factors and he's willing to give a game a bad score just because he doesn't like the name or look of the character, or something equally as arbitrary. In fact, after reading all the nearly identical online and magazine reviews, it's kind of nice to get the opinion of a maniac with a fresh point of view. Tommy called Primal one of the best games he had played that year, IIRC, and he seems to hate many beloved franchises. Vic provides a rational, predictable counterpoint.

And, if you look at the credits you'll see Tommy and Vic apparently write and produce the show, so you know they've played the games at least for a couple of minutes and the lame opinions are their own. Morgan and Adam apparently have a team of writers and I have doubts they really play all the games.

Electric Playground is the stupidest ever. It had these corny PR Fluff previews and interviews with bad CGI to put Tommy, Vic and others in videogame settings.

My biggest complaint about the G4 shows is that there are a lot of reruns, and it seems like everytime I watch a show it's about really old games. I watched a Judgement Day earlier in the month that reviewed Madden 2004. 2005 was already out or just about to come out. They show the same handful of Filter episodes over and over. Since the merger X-Play seems to get less new episodes as well.

At least X-Play reruns still manage to be entertaining. :p

While repeats abound, G4 does have some good shows:

X-Play
Filter
G4TV.com
Arena
Icons

are all great shows. They just need to show more new eps.

And besides... Morgan is friggin' hot. This man speaks the truth!

I like X-Play just a little bit more than Judgment Day. Although their reviews probably wouldn't stop me from buying a game I really wanted, just to have that game of a series I liked, even if it may have not been too good.

After the reviewing aspect, I also like watching both shows because of the the hosts entertaining humor, personalities, and the way that they're presented.

Personally, I like X-Play due to how it has evolved over the years.

1. The "early years" AKA Adam and Kate era: Deadly serious and kinda dull (this is back when ZD owned the channel). But the reviews were the best of its time.

2. Golden Age (Adam hosting Extended Play alone): Still serious but some of the humor that would consume X-Play (ie: the infamous bit with the intern who thinks he's Shinobi) does show up. Running joke about why the show staff spent too much at the Metreon comes out of this period.

3. Silver Age: Adam, Morgan, and alot of intern fights. X-Play becomes a comedy show masqurading as a videogame review show. Happily it's still all good.

X-Play
Good, yes, definitely.

Filter
Good in concept, but it feels... flawed in execution. Plus, Diane Mizota SERIOUSLY doesn't sound like she knows what she's talking about at times.

G4TV.com
This, actually, isn't too bad, but it could benefit from being longer, I think, and thus having more opprotunities for people to call in.

Arena
Awesome in concept, but... could we get some, y'know, variety? You can only watch so many Call of Duty matches - where they often wind up replaying the same maps over & over again - before it gets old. Or Socom II. And so on and so forth.

Plus, any console games that AREN'T Socom II get the shaft, only getting one segment that scores the lowest number of points. It caters far too much towards FPS fanatics and just gets boring after awhile.

Icons
This, I'll agree with. Probably the best show that wasn't ripped from Tech TV on the network. Cinematech's kinda fun at times too, depending on which games they focus on in any given episode.

X-play because they actually reveiw the games based on how good they are not on how cool.

X-Play is not a G4 show, It's a TechTV show. Second, X-Play > All G4 programming.

A pretty easy choice. I'm going to have to go with Judgement Day. Tommy is probably the most annoying and obnoxious person I've ever seen, but Vic is a good reviewer and obviously knows what he's talking about. Sure, I've dissagreed with him on a few scores, but he makes sense when he gives his reasons for rating a game as he does(I consider his reviews the true ones of the show). I do find it kind of silly when when they get some nameless chick on the show to smile and stroke the appliance they're reviewing, though.

X-Play, on the other hand, I only watch to see new games in motion. Adam and Morgan are astoundingly elitest and snobbish(Like when Morgan attended the Final Fantasy concert. She might as well have said that the people who went to these concerts were dorks). When Webb came to X-Play, Sessler became a complete idiot who gets beat by her in everything(he was the male half of the show so, of course, they had to change him into an idiot....way to mock a guy who's been with the show for years). They seem to also enjoy throwing the occasional political comment at the viewers, which is annoying(here's a hint as to which side they're always taking jabs at: this program airs on TV). Honestly, this show gets painful for me to watch at times. But I just gotta have my videogames.

Ahhh, Extended Play. I miss you.

Oh, and I must say something about Filter showing Shenmue as the second worst game of all time. That was dumb(yes, I know it was the fans' fault)....the end.

The only thing G4 was ever good for was Portal, and they canceled that just before the merger.

Yeah, their show is good for humor.. well deserved humor for the most part.

While I'm aware that X-Play kills Judgement Day, I only dislike JD when they review anime games. They are comepletely anime impared. So is most of G-4, but JD is the worst. Even so, I do enjoy a good Tommy bashing of games every now and then. Things get really entertaining when Victor actually dislikes a game. Overall, though, X-Play is just, better.
