Buckle up, people. It's two things: the law, and new Fresh Question time. While you take time to digest what that might mean, let's keep the discussion rolling!
If there's anything we love to do as people is dice up things into little groups once they get too big. And lord knows there are a lot of different movies and types of movies out there. So for the purposes of some generalized movie census studies, finish this sentence for me:
I find I am most interested in movies about...What?? Why??
Think real hard, and don't mind that large mirror on the wall because it may sometimes seem like it's sneezing, coughing or talking softly.
You get a reply simply because your avatar is awesome. :D
It's a tough choice. I like action movies, but find a lot of them simply act as an excuse to have massive explosions, car chases and have some dude win the heart of some bimbo with big breasts.
I like characters in my action films. That's the reason I go back and watch them again. Once you've seen the explosions, there's very little reason to go back and watch it again. If there is strong characterisation, I usually find something that I missed first time round, and therefore have reason to watch again. I also, if the film got it's point accross carefully, genuinly care about the character, and want to see his story again.
I also have a soft spot for a good comedy, again, I have to find the character funny, not simply the jokes they tell. Anyone can tell a joke, but certain characters telling them simply makes them more funny. Not sure if that made sense or not, but it's how I feel.
Thrillers, on the other hand, often have good characters, but the effect is gone once the film ends, leaving me with no desire to see it again. Colleteral and Unbreakable are fine examples of this.
So yeah, actions movies with good characters.

Comedy, because I like to have a good laugh.
Drama, because well...I dunno I just like dramatic movies and shows. :)
And...horror, because I like to have a good scare. :)

I like comedy (the darker it is, the better), drama (hold the cheese please), and action (see drama).

My interests in movies are all over the map, but it mostly comes down to one thing: the writing.
I love watching movies with exciting action, crazy technology and weird aliens, etc...such as The Empire Strikes Back. But then at the other end of the spectrum, I also love a character-driven movie, such as 12 Angry Men. The common element is story, which is most important to me. There are exceptions, of course, such as Plan 9 From Outer Space, which is pathetic on almost every level, but is so absurd that it becomes [unintentionally] hilarious. :)
Views on movies also change a lot as time goes by, including mine. There are movies I'd watch now that would have bored me in years past, such as 12 Angry Men (that would have been one of my "mother's" movies, which was unacceptable. :p) As time goes by, patience and understanding grows, and so does appreciation of writing.

I like well written and animated cartoons. In fact, most of my videos and DVD's are cartoons. As an art major, when I see good animation I go, "Gagagagagaga!:anime: " But it's the writing that pulls it together. When a cartoon's good, it doesn't matter if it's aimed at kids or adults because the writing transcends that and everyone finds it enjoyable. I love live action as well, but for some reason, I always enjoy a cartoon more than a live action movie.

I find me most interested in Horror and Comedy.
For one, Horror gives me a thrilling feeling and it's pretty out of the world. Comedy on the other hand gives me a good laugh when I'm not up to things and/or not having a good day. Both provide a sense of backup.
And then you have your anime films. Laputa, Voices of a Distant Star, ect. I probably don't have to go into details on that one.
