It's really surreal to see the Nintendo Dreamcast-- I mean Gamecube, sell at 1/3rd the quantity of the other systems.

Ignoring the GBA, it's actually 1/2, not 1/3. Units sold is more important than revenue from selling units since most of the money is made on games. XBox got a continued boost due to the price drop and the PS2 is just the top seller in general for the generation.

Um, have you looked at the game sales? Nintendo is not sitting comfortably. Its highest-selling game is selling at only 1/5th the rate as PS2 or XBOX's (and it's the same game!). Units are not being moved. Revenue is not being made.

However, a couple of games don't make or break a system. Once you get towards the bottom of the list GameCube and XBox are pretty similar. Thus, with the majority of games it they appear to be doing about the same business. Plus, the big games for August were Football games and this Nintendo system has never been known for it's sports games. It isn't a great month by any means, but it is still only one month. It will be interesting to see the sales trends as the holiday season hits for all systems.

As for Nintendo not sitting comfortably, the GameCube may not be in the most comfortable position, but the GBA is still outselling everything. Thanks to the GBA, the company overall should be just fine.

It's interesting that it looked like the price change for the 2k5 games still didn't really make a dent with the EA sports ones. Looks like it's going to take more than a cheap game to dethrone the champ.

Well, it is August when they all come out, so I'm not really surprised to see football dominating the top 10 everywhere.
