Anyone watch these shows?

http://elecplay.com/images/header-eptv.jpg
The Electric Playground (http://elecplay.com/index.php?template=ep) started back in September 1997 and I either started watching it right away, or not long after that, so I've been seeing Tommy Tallarico and Victor Lucas for many years now! Until a couple of years ago, it was pretty much only seen on Canadian TV, but now it's on G4 TV as well.

Reviews on the Run (http://elecplay.com/index.php?template=rotr) has been on for a couple of seasons now and is an offshoot of EP. They recently celebrated their 100th episode. It seems that this series is only seen on Canadian channels, judging by their TV listings.

Judgment Day (http://elecplay.com/index.php?template=jd) is the one series I haven't seen yet. It is on G4 TV and MTV Canada, neither of which I have. If anyone can tell me how it differs from the other series, I'd love to know!

I've seen Electric Playground and Judgement Day and they're crap.

There are die-hard cultist, elitist JD fans, but I don't like it. Heavily biased, opinionated to no end, and they hate RPG's  . I try to watch it, but then I start to ramble into a 4-letter word-fest at how much I hate Tommy Tallarico.

I've seen both EP and Judgement Day and neither of them are great, but they are still rather entertaining just because Victor and Tommy's opinions clash quite often.

I think I may be one of those people. I love Judgment Day.

I just saw judgement day today for the first time, and it made me vomit in my own mouth. They are cartoonishly opinionated, very rediculously in your face with their venomous comments of hate, and the "angry" one in the black jacket is a freaking idiot. I liked the other guy (to an extent) mainly because he wasn't going on hateful rant-fests (at least from the ep I saw), but that may have only been by comparison to that piece of crap he co-hosts the show with. Their ratings suck (due to BS reasons to hate games, like "Ooh, Rainbow Six 3 sucks because my teammates won't shoot me when I shoot them!" or some other toolish response. The guy I hate said Capcom VS SNK 2 EO sucked only because it wasn't 3D. WTF, you can't rate 2D fighters based off of that attitude).

They felt very fake and forced (much like all G4 shows) and they try to hard to be "hip" and edgy (hate seems to equal hip and edgy nowadays).

It's like the video game equivalent of Crossfire. I hate it.

No hard feelings, but the fan in me wanted to break this review of the show down.

I just saw judgement day today for the first time, and it made me vomit in my own mouth. They are cartoonishly opinionated,
That's why I love the show. Their opinions are pretty polar opposite on some games, like Bomberman Jetters. Watch that one.

very rediculously in your face with their venomous comments of hate,
It doesn't feel like that in my opinion. Then again, I'm a fan. I'm bias.

and the "angry" one in the black jacket is a freaking idiot.
That's Tommy Tallarico. A lot of people don't like Tommy Tallarico.

I liked the other guy (to an extent) mainly because he wasn't going on hateful rant-fests (at least from the ep I saw),
Victor Lucas (the other guy) is very calm. He never, ever goes on hateful rant fests. Even one time, he gave a game a 1.5 and he didn't seem that angry until the very end.

but that may have only been by comparison to that piece of crap he co-hosts the show with. Their ratings suck (due to BS reasons to hate games, like "Ooh, Rainbow Six 3 sucks because my teammates won't shoot me when I shoot them!" or some other toolish response.
Tommy is not the kind of person you'd want to play video games online with, since he's the guy that always acts evil in video games. If there's an evil path, he'll take it. However, in my personal opinion, the teammates in RS3 should shoot you back. The marines in Halo shoot you back if you personally shoot and kill two of your guys. Why can't the realistic squad of Rainbow Six 3 shoot you back?

The guy I hate said Capcom VS SNK 2 EO sucked only because it wasn't 3D. WTF, you can't rate 2D fighters based off of that attitude).
Actually, Tommy's opinion was that you shouldn't release a 2D fighter in this date and age.

They felt very fake and forced (much like all G4 shows)
Actually, Victor Lucas started the very first video game TV show way back in 1995 with The Electric Playground. He's a big gamer. On the other hand, Tommy composes music for video games, and he has a huge collection of games in his mansion. They're gamers.

and they try to hard to be "hip" and edgy (hate seems to equal hip and edgy nowadays).

It's like the video game equivalent of Crossfire. I hate it.
I guess you won't be giving this a second chance...

That doesn't have any relevance to what you quoted. I said they were ridiculously opinionated, and you countered by saying they were polar opposites to each other. Yes, they are polar opposites on about every review from what I've seen, but their reviews (and their reasons for why they give X game a good/bad review) are so trite and trivial (and they are so over-the- top with their opinions, as in Tommy Tallarico going on stupid hateful rants over something insignificant) that I can't believe that they're really bad enough reviewers as to not like games like Rainbow Six 3 because of little insignificant things like the lack of NPCs returning friendly fire or that 2D games in this day and age automatically get points taken off of their grade for not being 3D.

I would give this show another chance, but they would have to get rid of that seething idiot Tallarico.

Actually, Victor Lucas started the very first video game TV show way back in 1995 with The Electric Playground.
Actually, he started it way back in 1997. Bit of a nitpick, I know. ;) Also, it wasn't the first video game show. I don't know if it was the very first, but the somewhat forgotten GamePro TV (http://imdb.com/title/tt0415425/) aired several years before E.P. It was hosted by Fun House's J.D. Roth. Now there's a show I'd love to see again!

A couple of other video game shows I've seen over the years are Game Nation and Gamerz, both Canadian.

On a somewhat unrelated note, there was also a video game awards show on TBS in 1994 called Cybermania. It was hosted by Leslie Neilsen, of all people. I used to have it on tape, but I eventually taped over it. I'd love to see it again.

As for you, Invader_Spooch, it's too bad that you seem to hate E.P. so much after only one viewing, and I hope you will give it another chance. I do agree that Tommy is a moron sometimes. He's an acquired taste, you might say, but I can assure you that he's not always like that! :p

I don't always agree with Tommy and/or Vic, but that's bound to happen when two guys are talking about games that are played by millions of people, each with unique opinions. Know what I mean? If it really annoys you so much, maybe it's best not to watch it for the sake of your blood pressure, but if you can view it with a bit more of an open mind, you might find some insight in it.

I watch both Judgment Day and the Electric Playground. I like the inside scoops you get on the upcoming games and interviews with the product managers and stuff. It's amazing how they describe their games and it really seems like every game will be good the way it's talked about. I like the whole presentation of this show too.

I like the new versus segment on Judgment Day and when they have their disagreements on things it really gets funny then, especially Tommy while he's really stern when he doesn't like a game, I can't help but laugh on some of his comments, it's like he says some of the things on purpose to get some laughs, and it works, even if it's a game I like. Besides the games they review and segment presentations, their hilarity is another reason I like the show.

Hate Tommy? Then remember, he's in the industry by freak accident. He became hired as a game music composer because he decided to wear his Turbografx-16 shirt to his Guitar Center job on the day a guy from Virgin Entertainment showed up there.

Now he has a gigantic house, every issue of Spider-Man ever made and a robotic dinosaur in his backyard. If you had been in that Guitar Center, it could have been YOU!

Judgement is two (very biased) guys talking about games for 30 minutes. I can get two game fans to do that at home.

"Tommy hates 2D fighters" is NOT a valid excuse to give a kickass game like Guilty Gear X2 a bad score.

He think becasue he make music for games that he know everything about gaming. I saw his revie for city of heroes, and he said they should make a multiplayer fighting where you pick comic book heroes to fight one another. I take it he never play marvel heroes,X-men:COA,X-men:MA,JL task force or TMTNTF. Does he really beleive the stuff coming out his mouth or he just saying all that to please his fanbase?

I have to agree too. The ONLY Nintendo game he made good comments for is Mario Kart DD, but then he had to add the whole no online for Gamecube comment. What really got me steam was his review of the GC booth at E3 (5.0) and then prasies on how much better the PSP is. Honestly, I just listen to Victor reviews since he not biase. He made an enemy with my friend when he gave Star Wars:Knight Of the Old Republic a 7/10 because of the battle system.

Well that's a stupid opinion (yes, they do exist). Capcom's low-res stuff should be left behind, I'll agree with that, but beautiful hi-res stuff like Guilty Gear X2 definitely have a place in this world.

Is there anyone who has seen both "Judgment Day" and "Reviews on the Run"?

To have done so, you basically have to be Canadian and have G4, so the chances are a bit low, I know. :p
