São Paulo - SP, Brazil, September 16, 2004.
Hello, friends from Toon Zone, Yesterdaylanders, Memory Laners and HB-fans from the whole world (and a special hello to Joseph & Jayne Barbera, Iwao Takamoto, David Kirschner, Fred Seibert, Buzz Potamkin, Robert Alvarez, Ed Benedict, Alex Toth, Jerry Eisenberg, Bob Singer and all that people from Hanna-Barbera/Cartoon Network)!
Have you noticed that the laser beam sound effects from the movie War of the Worlds (1953, with Gene Barry [Bat Masterson]) was used in various Hanna-Barbera cartoons from 1967 to on?
Very well. The first Hanna-Barbera cartoon series which these laser-beamed sound FX was used, it was The Herculoids (1967), as also in other series produced on that year (more exactly: Shazzan, Moby Dick & The Mighty Mightor, Birdman & Galaxy Trio, The Fantasic Four and Young Samson).
And talking about sound effects originally used on movies and TV series to the Hanna-Barbera cartoon series, I remember of having watched an episode from Yogi's Space Race (1978), in which were used the popping sound effects from the Lost in Space series (1965-68) on it.
Still talking about the Lost in Space sound effects on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon shows, do you remember of an episode from Jabberjaw (1976), in which was used the Jupiter II spaceship's sound effect on it? This same sound effect was used in an episode of the HB version from Godzilla (1978-80).
I also could notice the inclusion of the Filmation sound effects on the HB cartoons from 1980 to on. Do you remember of Filmation's xylophone sound effect (originally used on The Archie-Sabrina Show [1969]) being used on the Captain Caveman episodes from The Flintstone Comedy Show (1980 [a.k.a. Flintstone Frolics])?
Well, this was what I've had to report here, about the curiosities involving the sound effects on the Hanna-Barbera cartoons. Next time, I'll have more curiosities to report 4 U.
Ciao!
Cheers from this faithful friend who always writes 4 U,
