JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Amateur hurricane-busters have come up with any number of crackpot ideas to spare Florida from ferocious storms. Among them: blowing hurricanes away with giant fans or blowing them up with nuclear warheads.

Umm... no.

Trying to "blow up" a hurricane with current explosives technology (even nuclear weapons) would be about as effective as trying to stop a tornado with a cherry bomb. Besides, anything powerful enough to actually stop the storm would likely do more harm than good, nuclear or not.

lol. That was a fun article to read. Most likely most of those ideas wouldn't work, but I do like the fact that people are trying to figure out ways to stop hurricanes. Perhaps they should create a giant piece of tupperware, and capture the hurricane inside. :p

Hurricanes don't need to be stopped but celebrated. They clear the coastal citites of old inferior structures so better ones can be built.

Hmm we could make a man made continent/large island in the middle of the ocean right where the current is that carries the hurricane's to the US. This continent/large island would serve no other purpose but to diminish the hurricane's strength and after passing over it, it wouldn't have the time to build back up into a hurricane again before reaching the US.

You know that started out as being completely facetious but now sounds quite brilliant, if we had the endless amount of money needed to preform such a task. Dontcha think? LOL :D

What a coincidence, I just watched a video in my science class that had something to do with hurricanes. Heh, I doubt they could stop a hurricane with a nuke(atleast without killing anybody). That just sounds too extreme, besides...what if it hits something else?

It truely is a paradox, we need to destroy Florida...yet...
