It became a bad show after the new animation kicked in. McCracken left.
And Matt wouldn't lie, so don't question him. ;)

The show is cancelled. What? Are you kidding or is this just a joke? I know it hasn't been great lately, but that doesn't seem quite right. After all, they just started those PPG teen style shorts.
Does anyone know how many episodes have been made and are in the can?

I wouldn't mind it, because there will either be reruns or new episodes in Fridays. But, if it is reruns, there would only be one slot. Then they could air like Evil Con Carne or other good shows. I liked the show when it first came out and for the first 2 or 3 seasons, but I havn't gotten a chance to se it lately.

Does anyone knows when there will be new episodes of the Powerpuff Girls?Regardless of if it has been cancelled, CN said in this press release (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=103727) that there would be 17 new episodes in 2004. All of them have aired, but three more (1. Nothin' Special / Neighbor Hood , 2. I See A Funny Cartoon In Your Future / Octi Gone , 3. See Me, Feel Me, Gnomey) have aired in other countries and are completely finished.
So, even if it is cancelled, there are at least three episodes that might air in 2005.

They talked about it at Comic Con.
Cartoon Network will always try to merchandise the hell out of PPG from now until infinite eternity, but the show itself is over. Just like Rugrats, actually. Minus the spinoffs.

PPG hasn't been good since the new animation came in. IT, like countless other CN orignals, is awsome the fisrt couple of seasons.

Just googled "powerpuff girls cancelled". Not one shred of evidence that it has. A ppg game has, though. So, until there is some definite evidence. I wont be believing that it has been cancelled.
Just cause craig left, doesn't mean it's ruined. Takes more than one person to make a show
It's cancelled. Besides, the show sucks when the creator leaves. It probaly ends then but if it doesn't the show is freaked up bad because the new person they assign doesn't have the freaking vision of the creator

The definite evidence is that Matt said it is. He has his ways of knowing these things. He knows more about Cartoon Network then any of those other fan sites know.

Craig said it at Comic Con 2004. Many people abandoned the show and ran off to Samurai Jack or Foster's Home or Dreamworks or Nickelodeon.

After the movie was released, that's when Craig left. Personally I think its a wise decision at this point. The girls really kind of did everything there was to do, and letting other people run the show made it slow and hokey.

I really hate it when the creators leave and then the show gets picked up for more episodes, even though it only happened on two occasions, but nevertheless, those occasions proved that it shouldn't be done again.
But then again, CN probably won't get another series like Dexter or the Powerpuffs for half a decade or more.
EDIT: And about Warburton and Sheep: That's a different story. The animation stayed the same.

I'm sure Matt says a lot of things and I'm sure he knows a lot of things, and I'm sure ppg is on it's last legs. But the fact remains that no one has been able to come up with any other evidence (a link to a reputable site would do it), other than Matt says so. And that is just not good enough.

For the 3rd time in this thread...It was said at Comic Con. Comic Con is a big event and thats proof. Its not our fault you don't believe us because you weren't there. We are lucky enough to have people go to CC. Alot of the other sites that you talk about, don't.

Ok. I'm gonna have one last shot at explaining this and then I'm done.
First of all, I understand that Matt heard this news at comic con. I'm not disputing that. And I understand that he's a trustworthy guy and knowledgable, and that's all groovy too.
However, here - this very thread - is the first and only place that I have heard this information. And I'm not the only one. Others have expressed surprise to have been told that the show is cancelled.
After numerous searches on the web, I cannot find one other website that says that ppg is cancelled. The following searches have yielded no results:
"Comic con 2004 news"
"Comic con 2004 news craig mccracken"
"Comic con 2004 news craig mccracken powerpuff girls"
"craig mccracken powerpuff girls"
"craig mccracken powerpuff girls cancelled"
"Powerpuff girls cancelled"
"Powerpuff girls new series"
"has the powerpuff girls been cancelled?" (on ask.com)
even just "powerpuff girls"
The following websites do not acknowledge ppg as cancelled either:
imdb
tvtome
powerpuff.com
This is what I find really surprising. Comic con has been over for a couple of months now. That's plenty of time for the news to filter out. And I would expect the cancellation of a show as popular as ppg to be considered big news. I would certainly expect lamenting and wailing on the powerpuff.com website. But there's nothing!
I regularly check up on information I get on the internet to verify it's authenticity. This is why I asked for more evidence. I think that's only fair. I don't think you can expect people to believe things just because someone "says so". Even if it is Matt Wilson and even if it is Comic con.
So my guess is that either Ppg IS cancelled and it just hasn't been made official yet, or Matt misunderstood Craig McCracken at comic con.
Alright guys? Prove it! :)

powerpuff.comAs if TVTome is a real source. In the past two months they have:
1) Said season 7 of the PPGs would start in August with the girls as teenagers.
2) Reported that AS cancelled ATHF without noting it was a joke.
3) Claim Fox will be releasing X-Men TAS on DVD, which they don't even have the rights to.
As far as I'm aware, imdb is just as questionable.
Rugrats had a longer run though. It's too bad Craig left, otherwise I think the show would have lasted one or two more seasons. Even though the last couple of seasons weren't that good (not horrible but not good either) I will miss seeing new episodes of the show.

I'm a little surprised, but in no way disappointed.
The show had really gone downhill the last few seasons, so much so that I couldn't stand watching it anymore. The animation was poor, the scripts were horrid, and the overall feel was a ghost of its former glory. If the past few seasons were an indicator of how the "Powerpuff Girls" were going to continue in latter seasons, then it's just best to cancel the show and save itself further embarrassment (a lesson "The Simpsons" should take to heart).
The first several seasons were excellent and will remain how I will always remember the show. And that's all I have to say.

Am I the only guy here who thinks the show was NOT bad enough to be cancelled? It sure looks like it! Oh well.
Anywho, I'm not doubting that Matt heard about this at Comic Con, but just because Craig announced it orally out of the blue make it true? My guess is most likely, but maybe not. Didn't Danny Antonucci (Ed Edd N' Eddy's creator) announce at one point that there would be no new episodes? But guess what? There is new EEnE episodes in production! So I'm not saying keep your hopes up, but I would like to see something in writing myself before I completley believe PPG is cancelled.

So I'm not saying keep your hopes up, but I would like to see something in writing myself before I completley believe PPG is cancelled. When Danny announced that EE&E was over, the show had just reached 52 eps, which is when the original contract expired. However, newer negotiations were made and the show was renewed for at least one more 13-episode season. It should be noted that almost the entire EE&E fandom (myself included) agreed on that the show was improving as it continued.
My point is, Danny thought that EE&E still had a lot of material to make new episodes with, yet Craig thinks that PPG is really done for (and I honestly don't blame him, it clearly looked that they were recurring to fan-made stuff in a couple of episodes).
I'm shocked. I thought it still had a couple of years in it.
I admit, the show has declined a bit but it's not that bad, in my opinion. I was entertained with most of it, with the exception of the extreme gross out jokes the RRB provided.
Oh well, I guess the fashion line should of been a sign. I just hope they have a great last episode. American cartoons should have a nice conclusion sometime! Since it's a superhero genre and they never really die, maybe they could at least have an episode where they defeat the Rowdy Ruff Boys. Come on, they've been running around for two seasons. Or at least maybe just one of 'fade off' things like at the end of the movie.

Welcome to July.
They used "shy" language - McSlacken basically said that although CN will probably air it ad nauseam, production has ceased, which is another way of saying "Hey, it's done. Find something else."
If you don't believe me, I'd be willing to wager my McCracken autographed PowerBook.

Hey Guys,
Craig here, OK here's the deal, Powerpuff was not cancelled. A show that is cancelled is a show in which production is stopped and the show is taken off the air.
Even though it wasn't cancelled, Powerpuff is no longer in production and the reason for that is simply... were done, we delivered all the shows. Cartoon Network ordered a total of 6 seasons (78 episodes) and once we completed them, there was simply no more work to be done. But the show is still on the air, and it's my understanding that it's not being taken off any time soon.
We (The Network and Myself) talked about the possibility of making more episodes beyond the 6th season and we all agreed that it was a good time to stop for a while (I was busy with Foster's, the crew wanted to move on to other things, and not to mention I wanted to finish PPG on some what of a high note. I'd like to avoid jumping the shark if at all possible.)
A perfect example of why I know it's not completely done is that I'm not allowed to make my final episode. I've had an idea for a long time on how I'd like to end the show once and for all and the Network won't let me do it 'cause they want to keep it opened ended.
So that's where PPG is, who knows maybe someday we'll make some long form specials or maybe even more episodes (Don't forget Dexter's stopped for awhile before it came back.) But right now there is nothing in production, nor are there any plans to produce anything in the near future.
Hope that clears things up,
Craig
P.S. I'm really happy you guys are all diggin' Foster's. I really love the show and we're having a great time making it. It makes all the hard work worth it when it's so well recieved, so thanks guys, we really appreciate it.

And Foster's is looking awesome. The animation is just fabulous! I've never seen such wonderful animation. The team do a great job. Worth their weight in gold... or merchandise ;) Absolutley rockin'. Keep it up.

Thanks for the info Craig! The fact that the people behind the shows come to these boards is one of the reasons ToonZone is so great.
Cartoon Network ordered a total of 6 seasons (78 episodes)So far CN has only aired 76 episodes. There are three left, which aired in Canada & the UK (I know, I'm trusting TVTome, don't rub it in):
1. Nothin' Special / Neighbor Hood
2. I See A Funny Cartoon In Your Future / Octi Gone
3. See Me, Feel Me, Gnomey
If CN only ordered 78, which one don't they have the rights to? And, when will we see 77 & 78?
We (The Network and Myself) talked about the possibility of making more episodes beyond the 6th season and we all agreed that it was a good time to stop for a while (I was busy with Foster's, the crew wanted to move on to other things, and not to mention I wanted to finish PPG on some what of a high note. Well, there's not much point in continuing after Puffdaddy definitively settles the question. But because this issue showed up briefly on our News board last night, I want to note that Toon Zone covered this news (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=117219) when it was at Comic Con in July:
In answer to a fan question, McCracken said that he has been concentrating on his new show and turned over most of the management of seasons five and six of The Powerpuff Girls to Chris Sorvino. McCracken praised Sorvino for his work on the series and strongly rejected the suggestion that quality on The Powerpuff Girls was likely to suffer. McCracken also said that there are no new episodes of the series in production, but noted that there is always the potential for specials. He said he does not currently know of any plans to release a special edition of The Powerpuff Girls Movie.
pebbles didn't find this by Googling I was careful not to use the word "cancelled," which, as Craig noted, means something rather different.
Thanks for making things clear, Craig.

Wow, I finally get to meet the Great Craig McCracken. I've always been a Great Powerpuff Girls Fan and now I'm also becoming a Fan to your Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends Work.
I've also been a Fan on Dexter's Laboratory and Samurai Jack. No offence Craig but... I'm not really that satisfied yet. I can give you some New Ideas for the Powerpuff Girls if you want. After all, you did say that you wanted to end the show once and for all and I will support you. In fact, I got lots of Ideas.
My country or to be more specific, the Fans in my country don't get enough of the Powerpuff Girls that they desperately wanted more. One of my friends who is also a Powerpuff Girls Fan asked me to do a favor and that is try my very best to interview with Craig McCracken so here I finally am for 16 whole years. I hope you will understand and I hope we will understand you too. Thanks Craig, you're the Man.
Sample Ideas for the Series:
1. The Powerpuff Girls meet the Justice League which is a Crossover Episode if that is ok. It would be about the Heroes trying to stop the Chaos of Doom from destroying the world by the use of Invisible Missiles and Rockets filled with Kryptonites in them. I'll call this "Kryto Destructo".
2. The Powerpuff Girls once again went to the future but instead of the Alternate Future in "Speed Demon", they acually met their Teenage selfs who would try to help the Past ones go back in time. But in the meantime, it's party time. I'll call this "Possible Future Dimension".
3. Blossom teased Buttercup and she gets revenge by making Blossom think she is fat but she actually is not. Blossom would be dieting involving no powers temporary until Professor Utonium discovered the problem. I'll call this "Diet Mayhem".
4. Bubbles met some new friends in the forest at Pokeyoaks Kindergarten. Those new friends are fairies that were actually Him's creations. The fairies will trick Bubbles into getting her sisters to follow her to their trap sending them to a different and wacky dimension until the Powerpuff Girls find out a way to free themselves. I'll call this "World of Wackiness".
5. Another Crossover again if that is ok. The Powerpuff Girls were transported to a different Future Timeline by Mojo Jojo and Him took this opportunity himself. At the same time, Samurai Jack was sent to the Future by Aku, his nemesis. So the Powerpuff Girls and Samurai Jack will team up to get back to their original Timelines. I'll call this "Samurai Puff Girls".
There's more and some is a little you-know-what. Why? I would be spamming I think, you know it. And some samples for the Movies:
1. The Powerpuff Girls have another Holiday that I would like to call Powerpuff Girls: The Flight during Halloween, Halloween Special.
2. The Powerpuff Girls once again have to try their very best to prevent the world from coming into an Apocalypse by the Evil Organization called Ultimate Judgment which I would like to call Powerpuff Girls: Countdown to Earth's Extinction.
3. The Powerpuff Girls would meet the Teen Titans in a Crossover Movie if that is ok, again. They would try to find a way out of Mad Mod's Crazy Castle which I would like to call Powerpuff Girls: Tales of the Mad Castle or Powerpuff Girls/Teen Titans: Tales of the Mad Castle.
You might not want the Title names so you can use your own. These are just samples so feel free to do some editing.
There's some more but I'll stop here for now. I got to attend a party where there would be lots of games and activities involving the Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. Do let me know if you saw this Craig, my e-mail is Keyblade_Master_16@hotmail.com. I'm looking forward to your reply.
If you really want to stop which I think is for now, I'll understand. Your works will always be in my Memories until the day I have to leave Earth. So... Until then, Great work and keep it up in the future. Rex Cena out.
