So how does the invite system work? Do they give people with accounts invites after a certain period of time, or do they give them to people with the most active accounts? If I get any invites to hand out, I'll definitely post them here.

They tend to pop up pretty quickly. I was given a bunch the same day I activated my account.

So how does the invite system work?I had my gmail address for 2 months and got only 1 invite after, which I got after about a week. Then last week, I started getting them left and right. I got 6 one day, and so did my brother (who got my initial invite) I'd use them up and boom! the next day I'd get 6 more! I must have given out 20 in the last week, and everyone I've given them to seem to be getting the same ammount. I think they must be getting close to going public with gmail, and want to do a stress test.

In any case, all the better for us :D

I couldn't find info on how big attatchments are allowed to be....Apparently, you can attach as much files as you want as long as the message doesn't go over 10 megs.

This isn't spam. No one's trying to sell anything, it's not an employee of Google posting just to promote thier product, and it is obviously of interest to the community judging by the number of responses.

However, we do already have a thread for this sort of thing, so I'm merging the two. And for anyone interested, I still have 6 invites available as well - just PM me if you want one.

Gmail = Google's free email. Currently it's invite-only, although it's not exactly hard to come across people who have invites to spare. They give you 1GB of space so it's pretty darned nice!

And in answer to your question, ionspark - thus far I still only have 5 invites; oh, I feel so neglected! :crying: Guess I should've been working harder to give those suckers away in the first place...ah well...

I almost think they should keep the invite system even once it goes public. It might keep spammers out of it a bit more.

But no, you don't need a GMail account. It's just a regular email address... with the Google name attached to it.

I got 100 invites, but you can sign up your self now, but you need your cellphone to do it. you sign up as regular, then put in your cell # and they send you an activation code as a text masseage. You put the code in the site and you have a gmail account.
