Cartoon Network's first win in the Animated Program category!

...going to a show that's cancelled.

That figures.

Cheer anyway.

CN also has received an emmy for The Clone Wars, and this may be their first for the hour or more category too, but I'm not sure.

Yay!

*sigh*

Yay.

Both cool and stupid at the same time. I shall cheer for SJ, and hurt CN for treating it like crap. Bastards. >kicks CN<

Trust me, this is huge.

Cartoon Network has been living in the shadows of the Emmy world, because of the committee's discrimination against Hanna Barbera and all of its ilk. This is a huge deal, and I hope, if not expect, Cartoon Network to make a big deal about this, and possibly put Samurai Jack back in a consistent timeslot.

That'd be nice. But good things don't actually happen, we all just collectively hallucinate about them and then reminisce about them.

Extremely suprised to hear SJ won this emmy. Very cool. I'm glad to see CN, and SJ get some recognition. It was such a well done show, hopefully CN will at least give the show some slot to just watch the old ones. I definitely miss Jack.

Bingo. If CN has any sense, they'll atleast give SJ a regular, reasonable time slot (10pm mon-thurs maybe,) and the DVDs should probably have "Emmy Award Winning" on them in some fashion as well. It's CN's first win, and they should be proud of it and build on it.

Who knows, maybe they'll even fund a proper ending (just throw a mil at it and be done with it) before Tartokovsky gets wrapped up in work on Live Action Astroboy because of this. That might be a bit more far fetched though.

Hoorah for SJ! Hopefully CN will take notice (wait, of course they will, IT'S AN EMMY!!).

Well, this is cool. Yeah, they better build on this and put Jack in a timeslot.

Well, an Emmy saved Futurama (or at least it tried to). Different context, I know, but it does mean something.

Was it a specific episode that won, or the series in general? I'm very excited about this, and I hope it leads to new Samurai Jack sometime.

Except for that live-action Jack, I hope that burns.

Birth of Evil was spine tingly good.
I'm shocked it got recognized over the exceedingly average episodes of the Simpsons or South Park.
My vote would have been for The Sting, but I this makes me happy.

As big of a Spongebob fan I am, I really did not enjoy Spongebob B.C.

But hey, SJ is finally getting the recognition it deserves. Go Genndy!

I don't think CN ever lost total faith in the Samurai Jack series. Its been tossed around, but its never been put into storage entirely. I think about the time they were going to renew Samurai Jack, the Star Wars thing came up, leaving Gennedy and his team to decide what to do with it. Obviously Clone Wars was a great opportunity, so Samurai Jack was pushed to the back burner.

Personally speaking, I can't watch too much of the show without feeling a sense of defeat. For me, a serial story that takes place over an entire series is too much. Way to many throw-away or one shot character appearences. Fans loved it when the Scotsman came back. It made the journey seem not so lonely. I just wondered that if the series wasn't cancelled, if it would even matter. It never peaked in popularity to their other original series, and even after an emmy nod, it barely raises a yawn in the cartoon world.

Anyway, I don't mean to rain on the parade, since the series is entertaining most of the time. I'm very happy for the team behind Samurai Jack and for Cartoon Network. Congrats!

Hopefully this would allow Jack to have the proper ending it deserves.

Tell me Herr Wilson, why do the Emmys discriminate against HB?

Killtacular
09-13-2004, 02:13 PM
As far as I know it dates back to the late 70s/early 80s... I mean it's fair because that was a time in Hanna Barbera where creativity was dead. Even still, I think Smurfs was the only HB show that actually got nominated in their entire library from that point. Pretty sad.

Long Live Samurai Jack and Genndy Tartakovski! Now put Samurai Jack on at a watchable hour. :)

That and consider at least a movie to help conclude the series.

Yay, maybe this will be they will make a movie to be Jack's conclusion.

This is outstanding news. If anything this alone should merit the network taking a second look at re-running the series and producing the conclussion. This is hopeful wishing, I'm sure, but this really might be it. Samurai Jack's final push. To all you Samurai Jack fans out there, feel vindicated.. We may be in the minority, but we're in the right.. Samurai Jack is and always will be a great show.

FINALLY, the Simpsons lost, and I'm glad they did at the rate they're going at...

Hooray for Jack winning, even though I'm not a big fan of it.

This is, like, one of the best days ever. Samurai Jack now has another chance. Or not. I feel so, refreshed. And Birth of Evil rocked amazingly. Death, action, more action. An Emmy should provoke CN. Unless CN.. is itself.

Graet that SJ won an emmy. This would not be enough to get new episodes but at least if it returns to a good time-slot, there is hope.

Well, that's good. CN get the recognition it deserves.

I hope they make an ending for SJ (like Jack going home).

Yeah, go CLONE Wars woot! (Hey, PPG's Twas the Fight Before Christmas was good too).

I'm out.

Oh thank God!

If there are any Cartoon Network execs reading this PLEASE greenlight a DTV wrap-up! I'll buy every season set if this happens.

And please put SJ back on the air at a regular time.

Matt, when are the final four episodes going to air on Toonami?

Great, thanks. I think I missed it too. Was it on late at night at a unwatchable time slot?

No. I think it aired on SVES once, then random slots.

Yay, an emmy. I doubt this will effect the schedule in any way though. (besides the thing with the final four) Oh well, I was routing for Futurama(the Sting is a great episode), but this was also a good episode.

Speaking of the Emmy-winning episode, "Birth of Evil" will be airing this coming Saturday at 6:00 p.m. (Step aside, you Lucha losers!) You might want to set your VCR/DVRs an hour early to catch it, as well as the "Final Four" and Clone Wars.
