I'm not too sure if this belongs on this forum or not, but that's okay if the moderators move it to a different forum if it belongs in another.
I wanted to know if anybody out there knew of any websites with information on the 1700s/1800s Japan? I have to write a scene adaption to the final scene of Hamlet by William Shakespeare. Information like what political powers(feudal systems, monarchy, or something like that), clothing style, weapons(swords maybe?), foods, drinks, classes, cities, technologies at the time, etc. I'm not talking about anything in the nitty gritty detail, but something like background information. I really don't know anything much about Japan at the time and I wanted to know if there's anyone who already knows a good site I could go to look up some information to help me with this scene adaption, I would really appreciate it.
I was going to do my scene adaption in the western days in the U.S., but since that is something other people are probably going to do in my English class, I decided to go with another idea. This idea was inspired by the manga and anime Rurouni Kenshin. I thought it would be a good idea;however, I barely know anything that will help me in writing this out.
