Quinten did it? Boo he was my favorite side character on this case.
If i'm not mistaken, it looks like Conan's zeroed in on Quentin and his wet shirt.. At least it looks like it'll be Quentin..
I seriously wish I hadn't missed the first episode of this 2 parter..

Phew Quenten didn't do it. It looked like Conan was looking at the shirts from left to right. Unfortunally for Nonee, I have to disagree with her. Both of them were jerks and deserved what they got. Espically for playing with their emotions for the past two years.
Still that was the most creativity I've seen since the Midnight Sonatta and the one with the twin brothers. Reika's death was something right out of a Steven King novel.

Bleu boxes of doom stike again. Hum. The guy that like is the smallest has a weird voice. Its like too high for him. Seven minutes in the show and he already knows who. Whats going to happen for like the rest of the time. Now one notices that Conan didn't leave the room. Conan makes a sence and Conan goes back to the little hide out of the door. ...Okay,the shot of that guy drowning Rachel didn't looks right. Well this epsoide was all saying how it happened. Heh Jimmy appeared out of nowhere and saved Rachel. Well the next epsoide looks like...okay. Boring looks like. Who did something with a flag. And the killer of the flag is...

Oh boy did this rock. I'm glad it was Donald, if it had been Dirk or Quentin then that would have brought this case down. Luckily that wasn't the case. Donald had to be the most creative killer yet, he put his own ass through some stress and put 120% in trying his best to kill people. Which is the good of the bad thing to do in this situation. The case overall was great and I hope there are even better ones down the pike.
Wow. Totally didn't see Donald coming out to be the one. Nice job with the suspense.. And I'm not surprised to find out the ones killed were involved with another dying..
Oh.. and how come Quentin didn't notice that Richard's voice was coming from right next to him instead of in front of him where Richard's body was.

Alright, before CM break, WE FOUND CLUES:
1) Reika Gilmore was held somewhere, then drowned.
2) The shower was on. Reika was dripping wet due to the fact that the murderer soaked her.
3) She was also binded with tape.
4) Everyone had a wet shirt...odd...
After the CM break...it was...
DONALD HIBLAR!
Why: Sonya. Donald Hiblar loved her, it was revenge. Poor guy.
I can't give how he did it though...too excited and a little sleepy to give attention to the TV.
And now...
Next's Conan's Hint!

Wow, Conan did a great job in finding out who the murderer was, but Donald did do a good job on trying to cover up his horrible deed. Well, almost. Conan is just too observant. I thought it was Dirk or Quentin, at first.
The writer's are amazing at thinking these stories up, and this was from years ago. Who knows how intricate some of the stories could be now.
Terrific two part episode.

After Thursday's episode, we left off with the discovery of the dead Reika and murderer still on the loose. But with a taser dart and wet sleeves, Conan proves that Donald did the crime. Donald finally cracks and recalls how Sonya died because Steve and Reika took the life vests while leaving her with nothing to protect herself.
Yay finally got a two parter right for once! Although, that was some crazy things Donald had to do, in order to not get caught early on. Also the way he drowned Reika was nasty. (http://home.hawaii.rr.com/wizardgrey/images/Detective%20Conan/DonaldNReika.jpg) He taped her to the bottom of the tub and slowly filled it with water. I guess it was really random chance that Rachel was unlucky enough to get the tainted coffee. Gah lousy jerk... (http://home.hawaii.rr.com/wizardgrey/images/Detective%20Conan/DonaldNRachel.jpg) Conan should have fired up his super shoes and kicked something into Donald's head. Heh.
Great two parter!

I was rather disappointed with this episode. The motive was too similar to the one that they had in the Mountain Villa Murder Case. I could tell from Part 1 what would happen. Though I do have to give them credit on the way Reika was murdered, and how well thought-out his plan was.
Also, I hope Donald gets what's coming to him. After all, my three favorite characters from this case were Steve, Reika, and Quentin. >.<

I have to say I was impressed that some people guessed Donald even though there wasn't much in the first episode to finger any of them. The fact that he went searching with Steve, and that he was the only one who could have closed the microwave door after Richard opened it were the only two things that could have tipped you off.
Definitely one of the more interesting murders I've seen thus far. Damn, who thinks up this stuff? His name is Gosho Moyama. :)

The guy's nuts for trying to kill Rachel without a motive. He wasn't trying to kill Rachel. He just dunked her head in the water to make it look like that's how Reika died. The two people he wanted to kill were already dead (or about to die), so he was just trying to cover his track by dunking Rachel.

I'm kinda surprised that she believes Rachel saw Jimmy. I mean, wouldn't she have been told that Conan was the one to find her? I know that Jimmy is Conan, and that her drugged state made her see through what was done to Jimmy, but to see that she still believed Jimmy saved her leaves me with a few questions.
1) Is Rachel going to figure out that Conan is Jimmy on her own?
2) What is she going to do to Conan when she finds out?
3) Will Conan survive what Rachel does to him?
4) Will she forgive Conan afterwards?

I just read the post on the schedule for the next few weeks when i saw something worth celebrating. Adult Swim is going to show the first season again, with episode one on Monday, August 16th!!!!!!!!
Now I can actually see the beginning of the series!!
Of course, this means that it'll be 12 weeks before the second season can start, but at least I won't have missed any episodes.

Well, I was completely 100% wrong about this case - Dirk was in the clear after all. ;) You win some, you lose some - actually, I was kind of surprised at how little evidence there was throughout the two-parter to actually prove that Donald did it... I mean, his method of murder could really have been carried out by anyone, depending on when the shower-head was turned on and such - the only definitive proof against him was his shirt. Even so, this was a good case... Though they never really explained why Richard's tires were slashed later on in the evening. I guess when the killer found out the Moores were staying overnight as well?
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to Thursday's episode - between the case title and the little comments I've heard about it, the suspense is killing me. ;)

The shirt was important, because it was the only piece of evidence that would prove who did it. If things had played out exactly as Conan said, then the killer's shirt would be wet around the elbow part from where he rolled up his sleeves and murdered the victims.

Can someone please explain the whole thing about the shirt? I missed the last 10 minutes of the episode and don't understand why the shirt was important. When they took off their coats and showed spots of water on all the characters Donald had a white shirt like the one in the Next Conan's hint that's why I knew it'd be him. Anyway Conan saw that everyone had water on their shirts Quentin around his collar because he was washing his face Michael around his wrist because he was washing his hands and Donald around his elbows. He tried to pull his sleeves up so he wouldn't get water on them when getting Reika out of the tub. Reika was taped inside of the tub and the shower head was used to fill it up so it would take a while until she drowned at the time Donald had an alibi. When him Conan and Richard searched the bathroom he made sure to look in the tub and tell them Reika wasn't in there and when they searched the kitchen he set the microwave to be on at 12:30 along with the air conditioners. He also cut the lights off in that hall so everyone would go to the other bathroom. Hope that helps

Think back to I think was Tuesday's episode, the one where the girl drew a portrait of the person she was looking for. Either Richard or Maguire let the paper containing the the portrait drop to the table, but the animation on the sheet was too fluid for standard Detective Conan. What was originally on that paper?

I thought this was a very interesting case, with quite a crafty culprit. It's people like Steve & Reika and what's-her-name from the last big two-part episode in the mountain villa that make me wish that murder in the name of honorable revenge was legal.
Ooh! I bet I know who the culprit in the next episode is! It must've been...
Mothmonsterman!!!
I thought it was a good episode, I missed a lot of suspense by missing the first episode, but I still was amazed at who did it.
I know Bathrooms usually echo, but i still don't get how they didn't notice that Richard's voice was coming from next to them. And it was interesting to have Richard say that he knew he was going to get drowzy when he did.
I wasn't surprised to find out the persons killed had a past where they did something to Donald, it's sad to hear because it's hard to imagine what I'd do in that same position.. So I don't feel too badly for those killed, although poor Rachel was almost taken, then again, he wanted to make it seem that the Killer was doing it randomly.. Great episode, a lot of thinking went into figuring it out.

Usually, in most episodes involving written clues, there will be edits because Funimation writes over the original Japanese text to give us an English translation.

It's weird how they included that bit where the guy spilled coffee on Richard Moore's shirt. At first when I thought back I thought that was how the killer avoided the possibility of drugging himself, but then I realized that was in the SECOND round of coffee. Was that just something that happened for no reason (or I guess to get Richard into the bathroom), or was there more to it?

Well I can truly say that this episode was one that I managed to get solved, yet very similar to another one that guy was too calm and had glasses, plus I'd figured that he was good at trying to ovase against trying to tell the cops the ehold story wich probbly also would add another charge to his list for wrongful telling and stuff.

I can't believe it! I was right that the killer was Donald Hiblar. I suspected that it had something to do with the accident that occured two years before. This was the first episode I've been able to catch since I've gotten back from Japan, so this show is brand new to me.
From what I've seen so far, the show is very addictive. I had read some of the Japanese manga years ago, but this was my first time really seeing the anime. I thought everything about the episode was very clever, even though I do wonder how Conan pieced everything together the way he did (it doesn't helped that I missed part one). Now I see why everyone is so pissed about Conan airing so late at night instead of premiering at midnight like just about every other anime on the block. Ah well.

Jeez Conan didn't like baseball all that much did he. Is this going to be like one epsoide where that guy had to lose inorder to not get like their brother or something not killed. Why would the cops care about some stupid flag. Okay there was a broken window and they had to get Richard in there to figure it out. The cops do not need to get involed in some stupid flag case. I mean what type of school calls the cops because of a ripped flag. "Hello, please help me my flag has been cut into nothing like its been through a paper shedder.". This case is not murder or anything. Its like a super filler epsoide. Damn it man. A few feet away and don't even see the lips moving. Rachel is even standing across from him. Wow,I got it right. Then again it was pretty easy to figure it out. Whoa! The next epsoide looks pretty good and yet weird. Its a Vash murdering!

Something I didn't even realize I forgot was that the next character to be introduced actually appears in #48. Unfortunately #48 is #49 in the US thanks to FUNi splitting up TV Special #1, so you won't get to see him until the next 'season' of the show, but if you've been hoping for someone older than Conan doing REAL detective work (as opposed to Moore's "work"), you'll probably like him... whatever his American name is.

An unhappy Conan finds himself stuck at a baseball game while listening to Rachel and Serena talk about some handsome guy. Based on everyone's shocked appearance, someone murdered the flag (Oh no!) and its up to the sleeping Richard Moore to crack this case with Conan's bowtie and the lovely Rachel as an assistant.
Funny thing about the slash marks. If Rachel stood on the opposite side of the flag, she could use her right hand to slash the flag  Oh well, Meh case. Although the next one looks pretty neat.
The following two pics are from the preview. So if you avoided the preview, also avoid these pics:
...
The preview was creepy. Someone killed Vash. They must pay. And when the music stopped, I thought my T.V. muted itself. Seeing a blue-toned Jimmy shadow scared me a little. Looking forward to it though.
LOL up someone killed Vash (http://home.hawaii.rr.com/wizardgrey/images/Detective%20Conan/vash.jpg)!!! Guess they wanted that $$ bounty on his head :)
Oh noes, the principal was the murderer...of a flag. That preview was kind of eerie, how the music just shut off and had Jimmy creeping out of the shadows. Very interested in the next episode.
Yeah I was surprised too that they shut off the background music. Also that image of Jimmy (http://home.hawaii.rr.com/wizardgrey/images/Detective%20Conan/shadow.jpg) was kinda spooky.
This was the first episode I've been able to catch since I've gotten back from Japan, so this show is brand new to me.
...
Aye Case Closed is fun to watch, especially the two parters. BTW, weclome back from Japan.

I was wondering when the spikey-haired charicter was gonna show up. It seems anime writers can't resist them for whatever reason...

Tonight's episode was average. Although its nice to have the occasional change from a murder mystery, I think Case Closed should stick to thefts or kidnappings if they stray away from the norm. I guessed it was the principal right away, so the episode wasn't very challenging... at least to me. Tomorrow night's episode looks very intriguing indeed, however!
I give Left in Tatters a C.
LOL up someone killed Vash (http://home.hawaii.rr.com/wizardgrey/images/Detective%20Conan/vash.jpg)!!! Guess they wanted that $$ bounty on his head :) That looks remarkably like him... lol. :D

Whose the guy with Spiky hair?
Looks like he's been murdered there.
Conan will be in the zone.
No murderers goin' home.
Yeah, I agree... the Sabotaged Flag case has got to be the dumbest case in the series. I've always hated it. T_T;; And big surprise.... it's anime-only. Gosho Aoyama isn't that stupid, anyhow.
Well, the next episode (was originally) called 'A Karaoke Box Murder'.... this episode is so incredibly tragic.... :( It's one of the saddest in the series... and Shinichi/Jimmy makes a.... semi-appearance, if you would. ^_^;; It's a great episode, I loved it, be sure to stay up tonight everyone!
The case after tonight's is even better... so stay up Thursday night too!!

That spiky haired guy looked almost like Vash; although, his hair was too tall and too much of the hair was bangs. (Sorry for the nit-picking. ADD can cause that.)
BUT WHAT THE HECK IS JIMMY DOING THERE??!!
I thought Jimmy wasn't supposed to come back until sometime after episode 90?
So with Jimmy coming back for at least a few moments, anyone think Rachel's gonna smack him, or will she just cry?

Okay, I didn't see last night's episode. From everyone's posts, I'm guessing I was lucky. My mom made me sleep at 12:30.
A principal cutting up his own flag....WHAT?
Okay, I also had to look at Sampo's pictures.
Vash pic: Oh no Vash! *looks again* Oh, its okay...from what I can see, he's just falling down. You should at that girl in the upper right corner, she's bleeding, or is that just her hair? Well, the hair's a hybrid of Vash, and those supersaiyans
Jimmy/Shinichi blue shadow pic: Pretty spooky.
From what I read from Elve's posts, this is a good one. I'll try and stay up!

<stands up on soapbox, grabs megaphone>
Make sure you DON'T WATCH THE PREVIEW FOR THURSDAY'S SHOW!

It ruins a bit of the suspense for one of the best eps in the series.
P.S. Sampo, if you have time, could you put part of the main song that's sung in tonight's episode (you'll know what I mean after watching it) into a sound file and post a link to it here. I'm really curious what music they come up with for the English version. Again, only if you have time. ;)

This was a nice change but a little too easy. From the moment the Principal threw the ball I knew that would be how Conan gets him on slicing the flag.
VVVV I loved that line =D also liking Richards lines when he gets darted.

Before the series started, I was worried it would be filled with cases like last night's -- stupid school mysteries where the only thing at stake is the big game. Since that isn't actually the case, last night's was tolerable. I did like "Richard, wake up, there's a case!" "I've already had a case." "Way to go, Richard!" :D

Rachel was out of it someone saved her she imagined it was Jimmy. I don't think she knows anything or saw throught anything. The chariman of the school hated sports and ordered the principle to slash the flag. The principle complied but it was pointless as the chairman died later on due to an illness while in the hospital. AHHH!! I'm stumped as to who's behind the next episode's preview.
Ok, who are the only people who are aware of Jimmy/Conan's secret? Dr. A and Jimmy, right? So obviously someone else knows the secret, otherwards Conan would say off the bat that that woman is NOT his mother. They knew he'd have to play along. And the masked man didn't look like Gin or Vodka (The 2 badmen from the first ep), so I'm just stumped.
Does anyone know when they stop showing new (to us) episodes and begin to repeat the series? Watch 'em do it on a part one... Don't you hate that?

I though it was Gerogie at first, but once Conan excluded him, I didn't had a clue, so I just went along with the episdoe at that point. It was a decent, for a single episode case. I knew people were gonna sing in this episode, but, GAH, it wasn't good singing. Everyone felt tired or lazy when they sung. The ending was cute, a bit cheesy (and the highlight for me of the episode), though (blackout), but I guess there was no other way to do it. The glowing red gloves freaked me out:eek: , it looks like it was poisoned or polluted.
I give Karaoke Killing a B.

For us souls up in Canada and no Adult Swim... how/what was the song like?
The Japanese title is "Bloody Venus".
Ok, who are the only people who are aware of Jimmy/Conan's secret? Dr. A and Jimmy, right? So obviously someone else knows the secret ***Yes.
otherwards Conan would say off the bat that that woman is NOT his mother.
Actually (big spoiler) it IS his mother. She used to be an actress (ie, she is in disguise). Let's just say with parents like his, Jimmy doesn't need more enemies :)
Does anyone know when they stop showing new (to us) episodes and begin to repeat the series? Watch 'em do it on a part one... Don't you hate that? "48" is the last if you look at the Adult Swim schedule posted in the forum section. Not a Part 1 but it stops JUST shy of Jimmy's return and the intro of Hattori Heiji (last name, first (really dreading what the dub is going to be)), another famous high school detective (from Osaka) - 2 part story.
So yes, you should hate 'em for where they're stopping.

intro of Hattori Heiji (last name, first (really dreading what the dub is going to be))
Harley, I think. Which sounds more like a girl's name (or maybe I watch too much Batman).
Wow. well I was leaning towards it being one of the girls and it ended up being like that. I knew it was going to come out that Maz was the one Justin was in love with, but I wasn't sure if she was going to be the killer or if it was going to be the other girl. It sure was tragic, she didn't realize that he loved her for who she was and that she didn't have to change her nose like that, and that he still loved her even then after everything had gone down.
And that ending with Conan able to pull that illusion for Rachel that he was Jimmy was just great. I'm glad she was able to talk and touch the one she cares about during the holidays and she even got a gift. Great, touchy ending.
"Karoake Killing" gets a B+.

After seeing Kareoke Killing, what can I say? Mazy and the person she killed were in love, yet he loved her for who she was on the inside, and not the outside.. (He didn't care how she looked, but her feelings..
yet this was one of those cases that makes you wonder
why is it that this guy really had to die? Hate? Jealousy? Could you imagine a killing just based on Love? (or the lack there of?)
Frankly thank heavens this round of 48 episodes is almost over and we can go back to the beginning for a while.. at least until Funimation gets the next go around for this..
But Kareoke Killing in my book gets a C for the Brain power but an A- for the Heart string attack.. so over all grade.. B+

Let's see. Serena has a popular band over at a Karaoke Club and invites Rachel (who in turn drags Conan along). There they meet Justin the lead singer who is very upset with his own band and wants to go solo after their last tour. Feelings are hurt and Justin ends up dead due to poisoning. Conan quickly comes to the conclusion that Mazy, out of anger, put cyanide in the left elbow sleeve of Justin's jacket without him knowing about it. When Justin removed his jacket to sing his favorite song, he touched his left elbow with his right hand which caused the poison to cover his hand. Then when he finished the song and ate something with his right hand, he died. In order to fool the police, Mazy switched jackets but forgot to remove Justin's lighter which the Inspector found.
The sad part about this episode, is that even though Justin was a jerk to Mazy, he still loved her. The reason why he hated her in the first place was that she had cosmetic surgery done to her face. Justin loved her the way she looked and didn't like the fact that Mazy went through with the surgery. Mazy loved Justin, so she thought she needed the surgery to compete with other women that would attempt to take Justin away from her... The song Justin was going to use to re-start his career was a song dedicated to Mazy. So Justin's death was in vain.
I had absolutely no idea how the crime was done. But I did know that Mazy was the suspect since the clue from last nights episode pretty much gave it away. I am still puzzled how the heck Conan (Jimmy) came to the conclusion that Justin's left elbow was the source of the poison.
Very good episode, with a sad ending... As for the singing, I guess it was alright.

This was a great episode. I once again missed the method and motive. I knew it was one of the two girls, but I thought she was just plain fed up with the constant abuse. Then came that twist later on when we find out Justin really did love Mazy, I was shocked.
Well, I was a little sad that Jimmy's appearance was a complete illusion at the end, but how'd they do it? I know that certain lighting can make people seem taller, but I cant think of any lighting that could make Conan appear to be Jimmy's height, even when he IS mostly in shadow. At least Rachel's Christmas wasn't a total bust.

I just had the opportunity to watch Conan in its original Japanese form and I must say that funi's 30 sec ending is far superior to the original ~minute long one. In Funi's, the music actually matches the visuals. The only thing that I am disliking about Funi's adaptation now is their slopping, 7th-grade-esque video editing techniques. The fonts and blue boxes they use look like crap and they can't get their tv-intro straight (i.e. sometimes it shows the logo, sometimes it doesn't).

Okay, so I got up at 8:30 those days :o But still! I mean, we're just registering from 8:30 - 11:00, it's not like it's an actuall school day. If my dad can't tape it, then I'll just hafta sneak it  I will not miss Conan is Kidnapped!
EDIT: Okay, now I know I'll be fine. We won't actually be there from 8:30 to 11:00, those're just the hours. My mom just wants us to be there as early as possible so we can get it over with as soon as possible. I hope this episode is good.
ANOTHER EDIT: Holy crap! Has anyone else noticed that there have been about seven pages of discussion on Kareoke Killing alone?! Good Lord, that musta been one heavily talked about episode. I saw it, I just never thought there'd be so much discussion on it.

Dang, "Karaoke Killing" was one sad episode. But at least it had a point in the end: Jimmy realized he had to somehow communicate with Rachel, seeing how a lack of communication can really damage a relationship. You can tell the series is well-done because you really feel Jimmy's frustration at not being able to tell Rachel. It really gets you involved and wanting to be like, "Rachel, Conan is Jimmy! Conan is Jummy!"
And am I the only one who didn't think the singing was noticeably bad?

Another thing I liked about that episode was how "Jimmy" had Mazy re-enact what Justin did. Since she had his jacket on, wouldn't it have been hilarious if there was still some poison on the jacket and she did eat something and died.. That would've been insane.
There was a chance of that, so she was cautious with the food.. Although one thing that bugged me, why would she wear his jacket back to the scene? She could've easily not brought one..

****. Then I guess I might as well stop watching the series then.If you hated that episode because of the stupidiness of "Ran/Rachel can't find out Conan's true identity", then you're just gonna have to bear it. Just like how Conan does the "Richard-imitation-voice-and-no-one-finds-out", this is pretty much the same ongoing theme, although it does get even more interesting when new concepts are introduced.
If you hated it because of how the murder was done or it's because of the characters....then yea, you probably might want to quit...

Merry Christmas! I think it's funny how dates are periodically shown throughout the series. For example, last night's episode revealed that it was at or around Christmas-time 1996. And in most other episodes, a newspaper or poster will sometimes tell the date. Well, if they continue to do that, I think it'll be odd that none of the characters age. By the time episode 52 airs, all of the characters will be a year older and yet none of the kids got taller or noticibly older. So it looks like Rachel, who's 17 in 1996 is also 17 in 2004... Hmm... Just a point I thought I should bring out.
But anyway back on the main subject. Karaoke Killing was rather average. The re-enactment scene with Mazy was interesting however. But I think a big let down was Jimmy's confrontation with Rachel. From the preview yesterday, it built a lot of hype, but it was overplayed during the ep. if you understand where I am coming from. I thought for sure we would see Jimmy in person IN THE LIGHT at least... Oh well... And why hasn't Professor Agasa figured a cure for Jimmy yet?
I give Karaoke Killing a B-.

I'd been looking forward to this episode for WEEKS, and then just when its reaching the climax...stupid channel goes on the fritz. I lost it just when Creepy Mask Guy (or whatever name Conan gave him...which, btw, was one of the GREATEST names for a random character I'd EVER heard) was explaining how Conan got into the room. Then the screen went black, then fuzzy, and when it returned, Conan's dad and mom were talking with him back at the Doc's house.

BEST EPISODE EVA! :D
Man, I almost screamed bloody murder! Here I was, thinking "Mr. Freaky Face" was the first person to ever outsmart Jimmy/Conan, and now we know why... because it was his father! And to think, if his father is THAT good, then ol' Jimbo's got a very, very long way to go to catch up!
To think you can't even trust your own parents (or Dr. Agasa, for that matter).
"Conan is Kidnapped" gets an enthusiastic 4 out of 4 from me. Worth staying up for, every pulse-pounding second!
(P.S. Kudos for Jimmy to get his revenge rather quickly. ;))

Mon."Billionaire Birthday Blues"-conclusion- an interesting murder with a lot of alibi juggling. I knew Donald did it just wasn't sure how, gotta feel sorry for him though.

Tue."Left in Tatters"- pretty easy to solve. Those the baseball guy appear in more episodes? Because I've seen images of him in some of my magazines and in one of the OP credits.
Wed."Karaoke Killing"- heartchurner/tearjerker. To think if they could've of just talked it out, none of it would have happened.:( On the upside Rachel gets a x-mas gift from Jimmy.:D
Tonight: Conan is kidnapped by Tuxedo Mask...no wait Phantom Renegade..... no that masked villian from one of the Kamen Rider series....

My favorite episode of DC. Finally someone outsmarted Jimmy and it was his daddy :D . I was convinced by the second half that Jimmy's parents wouldn't go that far to trick Jimmy but I was wrong. When Conan was about to get shot, I practically screamed, and then we see what he got shot with, I was laughing hard. And it seems Jimmy doesn't read his father's novels. 'Tis a shame. When Jimmy got back at his dad, I was snickering.
Jimmy's parents > Rachel's parents. Felt like I had to say that.

I just need a breif summary of those few minues. *glances around the room* Anyone? I know Mr. Freaky Face (still love that name!) and the Fat Lady were his parents...but that's about it.
Conan hears Fat Lady and Freaky Face's scheme (to meet a guy a hotel and test the poison on him, then kill him and Jimmy). He deduces, from some trash and a calendar, where they are going (Baker hotel) and the #30. He investigates at the hotel and is stumped about what 30 is, it ends up being a parking space with a one in chalk next to it. So, he goes to room 301 and sees Mr. Freaky Face. But, the Fat Lady starts coming out of hte elevator, so he's caught between them. He runs into this kid's room as the child's mother leaves, pretends he's an alien and fools the poor sap, and orders some room service to the bad guys' room. He puts gum on the lock so he can get in, then hides in the closet. Mr. Freak Face figured it out, throws open the closet door and shoot's Conan in the forehead. With a suction cup dart. The trio reveal themselves to be Jimmy's parents and Dr. Agasa in disguise. They tell him to come abroad with them to hide from the organization, just in case something like this did happen, but he refuses (since he likes Rachel). His dad figures it out and they let him stay. Mom gives Richard a hefty check and they lets Conan hang around. Dad had been late writing some story for a paper, so to get back at him, Jimmy told the editors of those papers which plane dear papa was on and they all caught up to him. Oh, the hilarity.

Haha. That's hillarious!
Yeah, I'd definately give this episode an A++. Usually, I don't like them unless somebody dies (yeah, morbid, I know)...but this was one of the few times where they all live, and I'm still happy. It was humorous, mind-boggling, and well scripted. And don't think I didn't enjoy Conan/Shinichi's "revenge" on his parents for their evil, evil trick. Plus, his mother telling Ran that he *might* have a crush on her (lmfao!) was probably one of the grestest moments in the entire episode.
*sigh* stupid newspaper interview...I really would have like to stay up and rewatch this episode. Oh, well...maybe I can download it somewhere....

I agree that this episode was super-cool... One of the very best so far. Actually, probably the best in my opinion. ;)
Even though I accidentally read that horrible spoiler about the woman being Jimmy's mom, I was still surprised that everyone else seemed to be in on the setup as well. c_c;
A few things did kinda bother me though, but I'm sure it's just stuff I should forget about because it is just a television show -
First off, holy crap - Jimmy's parents are evil. Giving him false hope that he'd find the pills and possibly an antidote, knocking him out, making him think he was going to be shot... geez. The only way I can get past that is the fact that they were apparently trying to show him how dangerous it was to stay in his current position... But even so. o_x
Then there's the fact that they seemed so calm about him being drugged by some crime organization and turned into a kid... I mean, they were concerned and asked him to leave the country, but I would've thought they'd be a little more emotional. Ah well, chalk it up to those crazy Kudos, I guess. ;)
Finally, isn't this whole Jimmy-is-still-alive thing supposed to be a secret? I mean, he's not telling Rachel because he wants to 'protect those he cares about'... Wouldn't that include his own family? Again, I'll let it slide, since his parents are apparently abroad anyway, so they wouldn't be in any imminent danger, I suppose.
All in all though, this episode was really great. I'm not trying to be a wet blanket, I promise. ;) I still have a bone to pick with Adult Swim though, cutting off the run just before some apparently significant stuff happens. o_o Here's a question for folks who are familiar with the series: since the DVDs starting in Season 3 will supposedly be out before the AS run continues, would it be safe for me to watch them, or are those few missing episodes crucial to anything that happens in the next few cases afterwards?

Actually, I always thought Jimmy should be more worried.
That crime organization, foreign government or what ever, should have noticed something was wrong when there was nothing in the papers about finding the dead body of the famous detective.
You would also expect that they would have some way of infiltrating the police department, and been able to find out about the cops discovering a small boy at the scene of their crime.
Even if they didn't put two and two together, they should have followed up by watching his house and checking out aquaintances. The most notable is Rachel, who was with him on the roller coaster, and known to them already because they were all detained together during the investigation of the beheading.
I don't know if shrinking in the Detective Conan world is as unthinkable as in ours. Maybe Conan thinks he has the perfect disguise, but they may have seen someone else get shrunk by the poison.
At any rate he should be vary concerned for Rachel.
In retrospect, he would have been safer to have faked his own death.
About the money.
I would think his parents were either sending Jimmy money or had an account set up for him to draw from for living expenses.
Jimmy being smart should have been able to find a way to set up electronic funds transfer to Richard to compensate him for taking him in.
That and a few fake phone calls to secure his alibi.
Richard is pretty smart to when he wants to be, and could probably see through that, but as long as the cash is rolling in, he probably wouldn't care.
I've been noticing the seasons have been progressing on the show.
I said this around the time of the Valentines Day episode and I'll say it again,
Get Conan Some Long Pants!
it's cold outside.
I should probably mark this down as one of my favorite episodes.
How often does someone get the better of Jimmy?
Both Jimmy and his parents were written to be vary sharp.
They called the pills a fountain of youth, so I guess that's more evidence he is actually younger, and I should probably stop saying shrunk.

Man, they really had me going, even after he shot the gun:sweat: . They really went out of their way just to fool Jimmy, even if it was just to test his detective skills. Jimmy getting his father back at the end was great. And it looks like Richard won't be having any complaints for awhile about Conan staying after seeing that big check:D . Good episode, fooled everyone and we got to meet Jimmy's parents.
I give Conan is Kidnapped an A. Pretty good end to a week of average episodes.

Mr. Freaky Face?! Yusaku Kudo's character is the Night Baron which is what he was dressed up as which was his clue to Conan that it was him... although Conan didn't notice it mainly because he was scared...

A woman pretending to be Conan's Mother kidnaps the little detective and brings him to a hideout where sees a masked guy threatening to kill him. He appears in great danger and has to track these two people down to get a sample of the poison that was used to turned his body into a child. But he finds out it was a hoax concocted by Conan's (Jimmy's) parents. Of course little Conan gets even with his devious parents in the end. LOL, I was cracking up at that scene.
Based on watching how much knowledge the disguised Vivian(?) had on Conan, I knew she must be Jimmy's mother wearing a fancy disguse... Then she pulled a gun on him, that made me seriously rethink about it and kept me confused. Next when the Jimmy's dad, aka Tuxedo Mask, started to do a little detective work to figure out how Conan escaped from a locked room. My brain screamed that it must be Booker Kudo. But, just like his Mom, he whips out a gun and prepared to shoot it when he opened up the refrigerator. Also watching Conan face fill with fear just made me more confused till the masked couple revealed themselves. I am glad I didn't read that spoiler that was posted (ignore feature, gotta love it). I really did enjoy this episode.
Only thing is, that if Conan wants to keep Jimmy's activities from the public. It might have been a bad move to tell all those editor guys about the whereabouts of his parents. "Your son called with the flight number." Gah, Oh well.
Favorite moment. Jimmy's dad explaining to little detective that he knew that Conan was hiding beneath the floor (http://home.hawaii.rr.com/wizardgrey/images/Detective%20Conan/1039.jpg). :) Also... that's Jimmy's MOM?! (http://home.hawaii.rr.com/wizardgrey/images/Detective%20Conan/1035.jpg)

Jimmy Kudo (As Conan):  (Yawn!)
Frankly seeing this episode ends up perhaps the current end of one of the best series of stories of Case Closed.. and in fact This is rather the piece de resistance.
Seeing Mrs. Netagowa (I hope I spelled that correctly) Was a rather unpleasant surprise, but what was worse was seeing it was Really Jimmy's Parents..(and Dr. Agassa, playing a twisted joke on Jimmy (Conan).
Too Bad we'll have to wait a while before Episodes 49 and beyond air, but for this first 48 episodes, what Can I say? After all Jimmy/Conan Keeps you guessing who the killer is, the Action is fun and fresh, and in fact.. I'm really warming up to Case Closed.
It's just a Matter of time before Jimmy gets back to "Normal" but hopefully when the next New Series of Case Closed Episodes air, we'll be all ready for some more Brain teaser puzzles, and maybe we might finally get to see if Rachel figures out Conan's Real identity.. or if Richard Moore Finally sobers up..
All In all an excellent series.. and until the next block run of this series airs, I'm giving the full 48 episode block an Overall Grade of A-. Sure there were some episodes that were weak, but some of the two parters really do make up for this.. but until next time.. The Dossier is Closed
and so ends Round 1 of...
CASE CLOSED!

Uh, yeah, we still have another week to go, guys.
Although this WOULD be a good way to end the run. What an episode. Really had me wondering throughout the whole thing. Whatever I suspected, I didn't suspect that it was Jimmy's parents, even when he shot the dart out of the gun.
And it was cool how they advanced the main plot this way. Even though they can't advance it too much because the series needs to go on for over 300 episodes, they did what they could, and generally made the whole situation more plausible. Richard will be fine with letting Conan stay now, the question of Jimmy's parents is settled, and for Rachel and Richard, the question of "Conan's" parents is also settled. Plus, we know that Jimmy has 2 more people on his side. And one of them is a master detective, unlike Richard Moore, who previously was the one Conan was supposed to hang out with to be able to get a lead.
What did last night's hint have to do with this episode? Did we have another "wet shirt" incident?
No, you're probably just remembering it wrong. I forgot what the hint was exactly, but it showed the masked guy and said the name of the character. In reality, it was a hint for Conan and not us, because he could've recognized the character from his father's book.

Aww, that was mean, why'd Jimmy hafta go and do that to his parents? :( I know that was a serious trick they played on him, but they were just testing him. He should be happy he got to see his parents :) I know I am :anime:
So, according to what everyone's been saying, does this mean that there aren't gonna be any new episodes right now, and on Monday, they're gonna start the series over and show some new ones after they cycle through the current 48? Well, I guess that's a relief, cuz Monday is my first day back to school :D Still, if this is true (Someone please clarify so I'll know!), I suppose I'll still have my dad tape it just so I'll have it all recorded...

Well good episode. It was funny and it was also interesting to see how Jimmy would be countered every time. The parents were the people dressed up go figure. What goes around comes around. That would be the saying to this episode.
I rate Conan's Kiddnapped an A+

With the premiere run of Conan ending next week, I just hope it did well enough for AS to want to buy more episodes of this series. It's been enjoyable so far and it drew in a couple of my family members who normally think anime is dumb. Overall, I think Conan was well received by the AS audience. But there's going to be a lot of devious mysteries and important developments of the meta-plot in the next couple of seasons' worth of episodes.
It'll be interesting to see how well the Case Closed ratings hold up on the repeats, however. Those who watched the premiere run saw the solutions to the mysteries. AS action shows like Cowboy Bebop and Inuyasha have shown very strong replay value. I wonder if Conan will, too. (^_*)

Is there official word that they are ending at 48? I heard they bought 52... kinda stupid to have 4 episodes you're not gonna use.

"Best Episode EVER!!":D :D
I never suspected that they were Jimmy's parents and Dr. Agasa. What a cool trick they pulled!! It was cool to see that Jimmy's dad knew where Conan was all the time! Great episode!! Funny part at the end, too. :D And it was also great to see Jimmy's parents at last.

I watched it again, and there's something funny I noticed. It's the part where Conan first enters the hotel trying to find the room number:
Conan: "Excuse me, ma'am."
Receptionist: "Yes?"
Conan: "My dad sent me here, but I lost the claim ticket..."
That's some mean foreshadowing...
And what's up with that preview for Monday's?
Richard: "Judging by the state of the room, only one thing could have done this...explosives!"
Well.......duh.
"Conan is Kidnapped" was great. I never expected it to be Conan's mother and father and Dr. Agasa. :D

I've never sat down to watch "Detective Conan" because it always struck me as a show that I would find boring. Last night, I decided to give it a chance...
...AND I LIKED IT!!
Good, suspenseful ep. Never suspected they were his parents! Seems like a very smart show. I guess I'll be watching more.;)

I never thought we'd see Jimmy's parents. This epsiode made me jump right off my seat...well, until it was his parents and Dr. Agasa who did it. Really nice acting, I should say.
I liked the end, and when Jimmy tricked the kid into thinking he was a alien detective. I also loved it when Conan said "Oh no, Mr. Freaky Face!" HA HA!
Jeez, what's with the next epi? Unhappy Birthday? Can't they shy away from birthdays and weird killings? Seesh.
Oh...and...the hint...NO! I forgot!!!
Can't wait to watch new characters!

Wow. Well Like I mentioned, this episode was awesome. I was wondering why or how that masked guy knew exactly what Conan was thinking, and how that woman had figured out that Jimmy was Conan. I actually thought for awhile that the organization had made it's reappearance and that Conan was actually getting his closest chance yet, especially when those pills made the appearance.
It was quite the twist, but a good one. I'm glad his parents made their debut and I liked how they teased "Jimmy" when his mom returned him to the Moores. Saying Conan has a crush on Rachel, and he's thinking.. well maybe.. ;) And Conan sure got his dad back with all those editors. Only One Truth Prevails!
"Conan is Kidnapped" gets an A+.

So that's a good ray of hope... of course, he couldn't give specifics, and he didn't specify whether he was talking in general, if it included when the show moved to a later time slot, and stuff like that.

Why is everyone so freaked out by the clorophorm thing? I know it's a chemical that causes you to pass out when inhaled, but does it like, cause brain damage or something?

You know, I just realized something:
Remember how Jimmy realized that he used his real name to solve the Karaoke Killing case, and he figured that's how the Men In Black knew he was still alive? Well, that part remains true. And then there was also the one from way back with the kidnapping and the soccer player and the Dragon's Quest-type video game, when Jimmy was supposedly in the house solving the case and Rachel was looking for him.
All of the people involved in both of these cases are aware that Jimmy Kudo is still alive -- especially the Karaoke one, since that was much more publicized with the famous singer and all. So theoretically that could still be putting him in danger.

Conan Is Kidnapped was episode 44. Episodes 45 through 48 air next week. For those who think they aren't going to air 49 through 52, they're just going to wait until next season to air them. Now to todays episode. I loved how Conan's parents tricked him, but I can't believe they went as far as to chlorofoam him. I mean, it's one thing to try and teach someone a lesson, but its something else to knock them out completly. At least Conan got sweet revenge by getting his dad's writers after him at the end, and I hope we can see some more episodes with Jimmy's parents in the future. It also means that Jimmy's parents can now successfully call him at Richard's place and talk to him without Rachel getting suspicious. I give Conan Gets Kidnapped an A+ for creativity if nothing else. Now, here's todays extras cast:
Laurie Steele- Conan's Mom
Randy Tailman- Conan's dad
Chris Cason
Kineta Massey
Gwen Lau
Doug Burks
Mike Mayberry
Dana Schuites
Brian Gonzales
Ashley Gonzales
Jonny Sequenzia
Now to the next hint:

That's a good point there. But compared to the Karaoke case, the other case was real personal in nature and that shouldn't get much attention from the Men in Black. Also I don't think the police were involved in that one.
Hmm, yeah that is a problem with those people who know that Jimmy is alive.

That was me who asked that (go TZ press!) I kinda figured he couldn't give details, but the fact that Funi is happy with it means they are probably gonna put some effort into selling more because they feel they've got a shot, and that extra effort might just mean more units moved.

Bravo! What a great episode this was. I never suspected the kidnapping to be just a hoax. And we finally meet Jimmy's parents, who I presumed were never to be seen. It gives a little insight to his life, and I can now safely assume that Jimmy's parents actually care about him. It was a clever tactic I might say on the part of Dr. Agasa and the Kudos. Conan kept his wits about him, and the plot was unfoiled. I was on the edge of my seat all the way through!
I give Conan is Kidnapped an A+.

FINALLY! A deviation from all the murders! Well, I must say I was truly surprised to actually see Jimmy/Shinichi's parents...in more ways than one. I mean, CHLOROPHORM?! DAMN...! Some parents! Still nice to see'em, though. And God do they ever look young...
Heh. Guess I'm the only one amused by the fact that Dr. AGASA is given a German accent and speech. Ja indeed...:D
A+
Something I didn't even realize I forgot was that the next character to be introduced actually appears in #48.
I came up with names, but I don't think they'd suit him.
Kimmy! Jenny! Lenny!
Yeah, let's go with Lenny.
Lenny Kudu. Perfect match.
Oh, and look what I found.
