Okay, I missed last week's episode so somebody fill me in on what happened to Blue?

I swear Hige is on my last nerve. He's quickly become very much of a jerk ever since he met Blue. Very defensive, somewhat disrespectful, not the same from when we first met him.

This tribe looks interesting, somewhat what Toboe was describing of what he thought Paradise was. And Kiba is in a place, with that girl cat that can be flexible into another type of paradise I guess for some.

I wonder if Toboe's actions with saving Quent and keeping him warm will have any effects to Quent's opinions on wolves.

*Questions I never bothered to ask*

Can a wolf and a bobcat not only learn to coexist peacefully, but find love within the other as well?

Okay, I missed last week's episode so somebody fill me in on what happened to Blue?It was the big showdown at Darcia's.. and the place got blown up. Those guys captured Cheza, kiba went after them. And Blue attacked the soldiers trying to get Hubb and Cher an escape, but that didn't work. So I think the soldiers took Blue along with Cher, Hubb and Cheza. I think that's what happened..

Well an emotional episode. I feel bad for Quent I hope something good will come around his way. Toboe is gone. Hige sucks which is the VA for a lot of people including Shobu, and many others. I feel bad for Tsume just being stuck there. Kiba needs a life.

It wasn't the best nothing really went on I rate a B or 7.5/10

Ooop, guess they should've aired those clipshows after all.

Kiba stumbles into suppose "Paradise" (surrre) and we see his past and why he searches for paradise. Hige's gotten grumpy, Toboe show's concern for Quent, and Tsume seems like the only decent wolf in the now declining pack. It was an okay episode, we get some more info about a couple of things.

Can't think of anything else to say about it. I give A Dream of Oasis a B.

Looks like we're in line for a general slow-down of things... and this wasn't exactly the most quickly-paced series ever. Maybe when Jagara shows up things will get better.

She's not a Bobcat, she's a caracal. Bobcats are yellowish in colour, spotted, native to North America, and have bobbed tails (hence the name).
Bobcat (http://dspace.dial.pipex.com/town/plaza/abf90/bobcat.htm)

Caracals are sandy brown/tawny gold in colour, have longer tails, longish tufted ears similar to a bobcat, can catch birds in mid flight, and are a wildcat species native to Africa. Image: 2001-neworleans/caracal (http://wookimus.net/~chewie/photos/2001-neworleans/caracal.html)

So while a wolf and a bobcat might have problems, I don't think that Kiba could help but fall for the exotica that is a caracal.:p

His last fling was with a flower, at least this time he's got the right kingdom. Kiba may have been a cute puppy, but clearly growing up raised by a human has damaged his species identification.

Dammit, Kiba, didn't your human teach you not to mess with strange plants? Don't eat the shrooms, man! :D

Nice episode. I was a bit lost since I missed last week, but picked it up well enough. So, whoever's caught everyone was also culling wolves when Kiba was a pup. And what an adorable puppy he was! We need an :aww: smiley.

Toboe's too kind for his own good. I was glad he stayed to keep the old man warm, and it's probably best if he stays with the tribe for now.

Gotta admit, they were clubbing us over the head with that bit, though. Harmony with the land, living like aboriginal peoples, mmhmmm. Would've been a little less "in your face" if they had used something besides the stereotypical Native American look to the tribe.

As an aside, Kiba's paradise is apparently Alaska. I knew I never shoulda left that state.

So, in summary: flower girl and the lovely couple are caught; old drunk guy is barely alive in the snow; Toboe wants to stay with the tribe; and Kiba's trapped in a hallucinogenic plant that wants to eat him. Wonderful.

I just had to quote that. I think randi's been smoking whatever Kiba has. :D

A Dream of an Oasis was an intriging and emotional episode. I thought the scene with Quent and Toboe was especially well-done and moving. I felt bad that Quent missed Blue and more importantly his son... I also thought the Indian-Wolf relationship was interesting. Toboe's decision was surprising but I think it was for the better. Kiba's so-called paradise is very nice and its something that puts him at ease, so could this be it? Somehow I don't think it is, and I also am led to believe Kiba will leave to look for his friends and Cheza. The pack is breaking up, but somehow I view it as temporary.

I give A Dream of an Oasis an A.

Is the 'Toboe staying behind' thing an excuse to get rid of the 'annoying young character' like they did Ed in Cowboy Bebop?

To me Ed in Cowboy bebop is annoying yet funny..

Toboe is just anoying yet way too forgiving and all that..

a little P.O. they skipped the recap episodes..

A wolf and a ..caracal...in a smaller yet phony version of paradise..

the only pure action scene was when Hige punched Toboe..

deserves a B could've lasted longer..and Wolf's rain should not skip episodes..

Hige: it's Jagara..

Tsume:Jagara..

Toboe:Jagara..?

Oh okay. I thought Blue died or something. Phew... so that's why the old man was laying in the snow like that. Overall the episode was good. The part where Kiba picked up the flower and it died was kind of weird. Who knows... that might be a foreshadowning about what might happen soon. The girl/cat makes me wonder if what Kiba is doing is all in a trap of some sort. I don't trust her.

You know, at this point we really don't know what happened to Blue. We actually never saw her getting captured. One could assume that the soldiers killed her, but she's survived a lot worse than that. I mean, I thought she was dead after that soldier beat the crap out of her 10 episodes or so ago, but she survived that, so I'm betting she's still alive now.

Interspecie relationships, while a dog and a cat can essentialy have sex in a way, nothing will happen. It's not like Bison and cattle which can produce offspring or to a fuller extent yaks and muskoxen which arn't as closely related but can still produce offspring, or Asses and Horses which can produce a Mule but it would be sterile and not able to reproduce.

But really why the hell would a wolf and a carcal hook-up just because of their attraction to the human form...if that would be the case why ARE only the wolves and carcals able to take human forms, I mean why not the Bison? They're more hunted than the predators due to their attributes. Shouldn't all the animals in the false paradise be able to use human forms?

I thought it was really touching for Toboe to stay with Quent. It's too bad that he's staying with the tribe instead of finishing his journey to find Paradise. As far as Kiba, I wonder how he got to that location after his failed attempt to rescue Cheza. It's nice to learn abit about his background.

Tsume, Hige, and Toboe run into a tribe of humans who have a symbiotic relationship with animals and the land. During their stay there they learned from the tribes shaman that humans evolved from wolves. This type of life appeals to Toboe as he wants to stay behind. Far beyond the mountains, Kiba finds what appears to be paradise. A young caracal(?) wants him to remain with her, but Kiba seems reluctant as he still has Cheza to search for.

Dang that's a cute lady there. Unless this is a trap of some sort or that Kiba prefers Cheza over this woman, then I would say Kiba is an idiot not staying with her. I was slightly surprise that Toboe wanted to remain with the tribe of humans. I guess I have to wait till next episode to see what unfolds.

Screen caps located in this link (http://www.angelfire.com/anime5/sampo/Wolfs%20Rain.htm) with ads. Also with 4 pans. One of Kiba, the young Miss, and two pans of the beautiful landscape.

Later.

Yeah...looks OK to me. Meow! :o

This was unpredictable enough to keep me watching, and I am always pleased to see positive representations of Native Americans. Also, the scenes with Quent were sorta...moving.

Good episode.
I'm kind of disappointed that they had to skip four episodes, though. Even if they were clip shows, it would have been interesting to see different perspectives on the show so far.
Oh well. At least they'll be on the DVDs.

A little off subject, how many Baby Blues episodes are left?

not all of them..please I'm sick of Kiba's past and life:sweat:
all I wanted to see were two recaps "Grey Wolf" which is Tsume's..
and Hige's recap "scent of a flower blood of a wolf"
the rest I can skip..

This was a good episode, obviously setting up for the finale since this is episode 19 I think (they skipped the 4 recaps)..

Kiba finding what he's looking for, paradise, or so it seems. If I was him I wouldn't mind spending my life as a wolf for eternity with that cute female caracal. But of course, he's in love with Cheza.. so he'll leave to find his friends and search for her most likely.

Toboe has found his paradise, or at least what he imagined would be paradise with the village that believes in wolves and equality. So he's staying behind, and I don't blame him. He seems to have the right idea of finding paradise in what's around you.

Tsume, seems to be pretty level headed of all the wolves lately, we'll see if he finds Kiba.. I won't even mention Hige, who seems to be crazy about Blue, even Tsume noticed that. I wonder how Quent will be after noticing a wolf stayed with him and kept him from dying. Can't wait till next week.

"A Dream of an Oasis" gets a B.
