Did any of you check out the official Sealab preview at AS.com? I didn’t. But I guess it would be kind of late to do so now.
Hopefully Sealab will start my week off on a good note. HOPEFULLY. The Democratic National Convention is in town, and they have royally screwed up everything. Chances are some dude is going to search me sometime this week when I am trying to head to work on the subway. Ugh. All I know is this; if some muscle head in a cheap suit starts patting my crotch down…I may get arrested.
I heard Des Moines was free this week…why didn’t they go there? I am almost certain no one lives there.
New Sealab 2021 tonight with 57% less political convention crap. Enjoy.

That Pus joke had me actually somewhat shocked for the first time since like...the first season of South Park.
Gosh, I love this show. I wish you guys would stop bashing it so much.

as if the captain didn't have enough authority..
looks like stormy's going to get everyone in trouble.
aaahh, the cheesiest head explosion ever ,aaah! :D
mini john boothe , niice.
skulls with twistie straws. i know i'd like to have watermelon soda out of those rather than blood.
ohh my stormy and company is fooling with the trident..
broken legs, nice. dead cat is a creepy little bit, so's the pus.
everyone's got a murphy mobile. like he'll ever need those back.
poor hesh. he's got problems this time out.
stormy with mega ehm..
and still they carry the pus bottle.
that was such a nice blue buffalo.. how it roamed.
boom goes sealab. then goes whoever blew them up! whoa.
'zombie cat loves you'. to be honest.. i wish someone outside my family loves me.
i'd say this might be 2nd worst this season... but surprisingly , it isn't all that bad. in comparison to the worst one, anyway.
cheese to meet you,

"This will make it so much easier to cripple people!"
Sparks makes me happy. And I want a zombie cat.
lol.. I have no idea what happened, but it kept me entertained.
I liked the Death Star of David bit and Stormy wanting some junk in the trunk to match his enormous chest.

Tonights episode started off very lame. It started to pick up when the tiny JWB jumped on the table and killed Quinn. It soon went back down hill during the kart chase and the lame pus joke. Does 70-30 hate Hesh? He's been getting all of this random treatment as of late. Worst of all it ended with more anime bashing. Couldn't have been any better without a green haired swordsman and some random fantasy character. Althought the Five Jews Death Star of David was highlarious.

I found this episode to be actually pretty funny. Pretty funny. This reminded me of something that would happen with Hank in charge. Pretty good.

I'll stop bashing it when it stops sucking. Seriously, this was a fairly bad episode. I didn't even laugh, or even smile. I was just looking at the TV, bored and waiting for it to end. I was actually angry when they were stretching out the Hesh Torture joke. "LOL, we're making fun of it for being long. That makes it okay right?" And it still got worse. "Ooh, Stormy with big boobies. Sparks with little legs. That's comedy gold. Let's throw in any joke and not care if it works or not!" I would like one of those superpowerful staffs though, to burn this episode down so it will never be shown again. Preditcatble ending with the Jew Bank 5. They tried to build something in with the Pus joke, but it never got funny. EVER. And that includes the entire episode.

It's easy to hate something when you have the mentality of "God, I hate this" the entire time.

I missed the first few minutes but thats probably for the best  I didn't laugh any or really like the episode and why is Hesh now the whipping boy? :( stop killing him!
Y'know, after seeing Sealab's pilot, I can see how this show got picked up.
Pity.
See if this sounds familar: Someone at Sealab gets something (a title, a new drug, whatever) and the crew slowly goes from ostracising the skeptics to being useless sheep and Sealab occasionally blows up because they've all become utter loons. Which it did this time.
Pick an episode. It's an oft-recycled concept, which is wonderful foresight for the recycling movement, but makes for weak comedy shows.
This is pretty standard stuff for this season, and that's not good. Stiff animation that makes Miyazaki look like a Colorforms board, an appalling amount of Tornado and Hesh (neither of whom have any funny left in them, putting them on equal footing with the rest of the cast) ringed about with attempts at humour, most of which fail. The ones that weren't unfunny at conception, I mean. When that fails in the last third, lame sex humour (So Stormy wants to be a Stormette. . .wow. This is some cutting-edge stuff. I man Birdman did that what. . .last week?) alternated with gross-out stuff (really, the pus. . .just wasn't funny. Not the first time, not for the fiftieth time) in a relentless bararrage that numbs rather than induces laughter.
There is a theory in the land that says that the writers of Sealab are intentionally making bad episodes, for what reason seems to be unclear. If they are it's about as stupid as burning your bridges while you stand in the middle of them.
Thank God we got another ultra-clever anime dis, which could have been funny had it not be soo perverted as to be unrecognizable (yeah, there's the name, but it doesn't match up and just comes off as "huh?") Then it all mercifully wraps up. Thank God it felt so brief and didn't kill off large parts of my soul. I don't love Zombie Cat, I don't love Sealab. F-

I did some LOL during this ep. Perhaps it was my old fraternity days coming out, but the secret society bit was funny to me.
The "Five Jew Bankers" angle made me wonder if WS was pushing towards a more South Parth-esque level of comedy.
Nonetheless, pretty funny stuff.
EDIT:

The anime dis was weak, but it was so short and kind of "meh" I didn't feel it at all. Overall, the first Sealab I can give credit to in a long while.

This was the first decent episode in quite some time. 70/30 needs to figure out what they did differently in making this episode in comparison to the last few eps, and continue doing that.

I'm usually pretty uptight about comedy, but to me this is just like Space Ghost with different characters. So I guess whether or not you like it depends on if you like SG random humor or not.

Well, there were three genuinely funny moments that made me laugh. That's not bad for a 15 minute show. There were also some really lame jokes, like the Hesh killing thing that went on forever. And I didn't even get the anime thing at the end. Are you sure they were making fun of anime? I mean, those things really didn't look like anime characters, and they actually didn't attempt to parody them at all. I mean, they just put random unrecognizable characters into the scene. Where's the joke?

Whoa man, clam down! I didn't say anything about how many percentage points went towards loving and hating anything. I'm just saying...in general...that it's easy to hate something if you go into it wanting to hate it.

it occasionally becomes good again like the previous 2 episodes
the new bumps before and after the show
its only 11 minutes (if it was 22 I'd stop watching same as I did IY & WR)
:)
I liked all of Sparks' stuff, the mini-JWB, and the Death Star of David, but the rest was either "meh" or "crap."
Question. If the guy was supposed to be an anime parody...why does he look like every single Final Fantasy main character put into one?

Doesn't that kinda answer your own question? Anime is more than just one style after all.
I consider a Sealab episode good as long as it doesn't nauseate me. This one was good.

Well, there were some solid laughs in this one. However, it didn't rise to the level of the last two episodes, imho. It was based on paranoia - though maybe the "Jew bankers" stuff was mocking the paranoia rather than just conspiracy theorizing in comedy form (though, to be fair, I do wonder about 'Skull and Bones'... I mean, both prez candidates from there??)
Plus, there were too many "ewwww!" kind of jokes in it. The Hesh stampede did go on too long, and I so could've done without that jar. At least they never spilled it.
Maybe a C- would be a good grade.

The pus jar was a good hook, I kept expecting a spill. And depending on your level of tinfoil, yes, both Bush and Kerry are Skull and Boners.

Knowing the sarcasm of 70-30, I had the feeling that it wouldn't spill since the joke went on for about 2 minutes.

This was a decent episode. It actually was quite funny with all the secret group lunacy, and then of course all the religion jokes. I thought all the mainstream religions of this world were something else in Sealab (like Christians become Alvians and Jews become Krebbish). But other than that it was decent.
Doesn't that kinda answer your own question? Anime is more than just one style after all.
But most of the more popular anime (I doubt 70-30 watches the obscure stuff) doesn't have quite that style of clothing. Most of that is RPG-style (and most of those are Sprite-style. :P), specifically the sword and the various upper half clothing (I don't suppose someone could offer a screencap?). Except for the eyes, it looks more RPG-ish than anime-ish. I mean, few anime characters, even fewer guys, have neon green hair. :P
Meh. Mini John Wilkes Booth was the only funny part of the whole damn episode.
Somehow, I knew the pus joke would go nowhere. And Hesh was right, the joke went far too long to be funny. The non-fight with Kraken, with Quinn's comment? It just felt like the writers were screaming "Look, look how funny this is! It's funny, dammit!"
Watching it again reminded me of some more things that made this a good Sealab episode for me:
Hesh and the whole "It burns with the power of lemons!" scene.
Guguyasha and mini John Wilkes Booth
Practically everyone getting put into the Brotherhood..
"The Neptunati" gets a B.

The creators of these shows seem to have decided on a tack to take and are sticking to it: every week, the characters insult one another, suffer gruesome injuries and tortures, and then die.
I'm giving it a chance, and it isn't giving me much in return. There's as much actual comedy in the more recent Sealab and ATHF episodes as one might find in a garden-variety snuff film.

I rather liked it. The Hesh scene did go on to long as was the pus bucket, but I did rather like the "It burns with the power of lemons!" line. I'm starting to have hope for this season, the last few I enjoyed, but I wouldn't be suprised if the next episodes turned out bad like the others.
I give it a B-, would have been a C, but the Death Star of David made me smile.

I loved the concept of the episode where someone stupid was abusing great power. :D However I was really disturbed seeing Stormy with big boobs.  :o I love the part with the DBZ knock-off character. :D Death Star of David was really funny.
Awful and disturbing at the same time, this Sealab, while still better than ASHDTV, ranks at the bottom of the barrel.

Agreed. There seems to be a pre-disposition to dislike this show with some. Quite frankly, a lot of times in the past year an individual Sealab show has resembled some of the ones from the beginning; ones that many said people enjoyed. Yet all we ever hear is D or F ratings from them.

From one perspective, namely the perspective of genuine, normal humor, this episode gets a D. The timing was whack, and the jokes missed their mark.
From another perspective, namely the perspective of they are trying to piss the internet pundits like us and get us all ticked off, therefore being funny in an Andy Kaufman-like like fashion, it gets a B. Because they just about did everything they could to flip the virtual finger at anyone who expected old school Sealab humor, and that might be, in it's own way, brillant. Or not. Probably not.
Now excuse me, I've gotta work on my GuGuYasha cosplay. ;)
