Those rocks looks like a house of some sort. A evol house. Whoa. Is that like a church. It looks on the evol side. How many times is this weirdo going to whine about his wifes or girl friends death. The Flower lady was still sleeping. Jeez. I still wonder what happens to their clothes when they change. I one keeps a collar and loses everything else and the other gets like rings and loses everything else. Damn he is fast and evol. Throwing poor flower lady to a pole like breaking her back. Man why can't that guy get over it. She is dead. She ain't coming back. Its over. Well this was a pretty good epsoide. Nice minute fight scene. Kiba looks like dead or missing. Lets wait untill next Satuday I guess.

Well now its the recap episodes which sucks so the plot doesn't move for four weeks. Well good episode. One minute fight scene like randi said. Everybody met which was cool. A fast paced episode. So Hub, Cher, and Cheza are captured.

So I rate the Fallen Keep an A+

I'm really starting to lose patience with this show. The one-sentence encapsulated concept was promising, but whenever I watch it I feel as if I have missed several important episodes (...I haven't). Am I really supposed to know just who Darcia is, or just exactly who that dead broad was supposed to be, or why we ought to care? If he doesn't care about his future or anything, why'd he abduct Cheza? Just to smack her around? Gee, that's compelling. Are there any consistent rules to all the magic and illusion stuff, or is it just totally at the whim of the story? Is it supposed to be dramatic when these armored soldiers we don't really know-who work for someone else we don't reallyknow-keep clanking their way into episodes? Why can the wolves jump 100 feet at a time and do all the other super-powered things they do? I thought they were supposed to be regular wolves beyond the ability to fool the humans, but the suggestion is that all wolves have such amazing super powers. So why are they so downtrodden and not, I don't know, ruling humanity or something? What was the big catastrophe that hit the Earth? How far into the future is this? What is the wildly inconsistent technology about? I expect that some of these questions are answered later, but the clock is ticking, and all the murky goings-on are driving me nuts!

I really enjoyed this episode. Darcia, one of the nobles, has a lupine part of him that still yearns for Paradise even though his human side mourns the death of Homina as the end of all hope. Sheesh! Talk about your inner conflict. Hubb, Cher and Cheza captured by the rival noble who "commissioned" Cheza's creation. And Darcia's keep is destroyed. Kiba's off to who knows where after his desperate race to catch up with Cheza fails. And finally, we have Blue making the final break with her "pop" as she protects Kiba from Quent. So much went on here. I haven't become disenchanted with WR at all. I still look forward to it each week.

I'm glad to hear that we won't have to go through a string of recaps before getting back to the main WR plot. I also watch Gundam SEED on Toonami, and last week they threw in a recap episode right in the middle of a battle arc. That was bad enough. I'd find it hard to stand 4 WR recap episodes in a row. Especially at this point in the plot. (^_*)

Well, it was a pretty good episode. But, there were a few problems that were already mentioned here. I too, disliked Pops and Blue's reunion. I mean, I was expecting Blue to you know...maybe...talk? Instead, all she does is stare at him like a dumbass. Now, Pops is probably gonna shoot her the next time he sees her cause he thinks she's evil. Now, I know, she can't get rid of all his prejudice just by saying a few sentences, but the least she could have said is "I missed you." or "We will meet again." or anything instead of looking at him with that cold stare. That was dumb.

Also, the fight between Kiba and Darsha made no sense. Okay, last time Darsha made explosions magically come out of nowhere and kicked all 4 wolves asses in about 30 seconds, now all of a sudden Kiba and Darsha are fighting on equal ground? What the hell?

What the hell was going on at the end? Where the hell did all those ships come from?

So, if they skip the recaps then I guess we're almost done with this series, huh?

PickHut

Eh, that was pretty weak and anti climatic. You'd think everybody coming together and confronting Darcia would kick more ass. The Darcia and Kiba fight wasn't much, I was seriously thinking Kiba would kick more butt, especially the way Darcia treated Cheza. Instead, he gets cut up a little bit. Then the fight got interupted, followed by another interuption by a bunch of planes that forced everyone to seperate, again. And yes, the Blue/Quent reunion blowed.

I give The Fallen Keep a B-. I was quite disappointed with this episode towards the end , I really was expecting a lot when they reached Darcia's place.

Wounded_Dragon
07-25-2004, 03:30 AM
Darcia didn't have a big-arse ship armed with funky weapons behind this time. That's why the fight was more even.

This episode finally started to answer some of my questions about WR's world. I'm just annoyed that they didn't feel like explaining till 14 episodes in. I'm not psychic, I can't read the writers minds when they create new worlds like this...

1. Geez, Hige, stop worrying about Blue. Or has he already forgotten how Blue used to kick their asses back when she was hunting them?

2. That "ancient alchemy" secret crap better not be the nuclear bomb or some such lame preachy PSA.

3. That poor unlucky Darcia servant girl. If not crucifixion, it's getting blown to bits. I hope she got hazard pay.

4. OK, so who attacked Darcia's castle first (and crucified that girl) and why? It can't be the same ones who just attacked now because that would be stupid attacking twice (when they could've just waited a trap).

Those laser beams were from Darcia's spaceship.
Instead, what happened to his eye power? He used it to stun the wolves the very first time they met.

A slightly lackluster episode of Wolf's Rain tonight.

This new Hige, I just don't like. Ever since Blue has joined up with the pack, he's gotten more vocal, and it's annoying.
Once again, so close yet so far for Kiba. He and the pack find Cheza only to have her taken away yet again.. It's just so sad to see their road to paradise derailed so much by others.
Blue and Quent.. Looks like he's going to have to decide if he can really blame all wolves, if Blue is one of them.. Should be interesting to see if the show can pick it up a bit.
I give "The Fallen Keep" a B-.

2. That "ancient alchemy" secret crap better not be the nuclear bomb or some such lame preachy PSA. I don't recall them ever mentioning it again, so that "civilization fell 200 years ago for whatever reason" is all we get.

4. OK, so who attacked Darcia's castle first (and crucified that girl) and why? It can't be the same ones who just attacked now because that would be stupid attacking twice (when they could've just waited a trap). It's Jagara this time. The first time I think it was that other noble, the guy they said stole Cheza from the Darcia family in the first place. Whatever the hell his name was. Starts with O, I think.

If they are skipping the recap episodes, it's a very smart move. As if the episodes weren't bad enough the first time around, the series makes you sit through four recap episodes, making you yearn for the plot to resume, and when it finally does, it's just more of nothing much happening.

No, it was Jagara the first time too. Why he/she would attack twice, who knows. The Jagara - Orkum stuff is one thing about this series that is quite confusing, even for someone like me who is watching it for the second time(up to this episode anyway).

No those eps aren't airing. Next week skips ahead to episode 19. No recaps.Thank you! You made my day by telling us that. The recaps were enough to cause me to stop watching the show on fansubs last year, although soon after it was licensed anyway. Everything from this point on will be new to me. This is a really enjoyable episode for me, even if the Darcia-Kiba fight was rather anti-climatic. Great designs on Darcia's Keep and we got some nice backstory regarding the nobility.

Well, with all of the questions being thrown around by this forum, you must understand that the series takes place in a post apocalyptic future in which advanced sciences (like space travel, mentioned in last night's episode, depicted by the art on the walls of the Castle of Darcia) are considered alchemy. So because of this, most of this "mystical power" is left for the nobles to take advantage of, leaving the rest of the human population to fend for themselves.

Also, concerning the entire "anti-climactic battle with Darcia" angle, one must understand that Darcia himself had really nothing left to fight for. Homina, the main reason why he absolutely needed Cheza, to cure her, is now gone. Of course, he still takes possession of Cheza considering he was the one who originally created her in the first place, though the reason does not exist any longer. However, one must wonder if Cheza would be able to cure the curse that inflicts Darcia himself.

Another very enjoyable episode of the series, as I continue to be amazed by the animation and the gothic art style of the series, and Kanno's simple orchestral tracks really lend a lot to many scenes. Not to mention the series has one of the single best dubs in recent memory.

The recaps are just cut and paste scenes from earliar episodes telling the stories from different point of views. It acted as a place holder during the original japanese airings because production fell behind. That's why the last four episodes are OVAs.

I really don't understand why people think its a hinderance to the quality of the series. Its easily skipable.

I thought last night was a pretty good episode. I like having Blue in the mix and her final (?) farewell to Pops was handled nicely. Considering the place was falling to pieces.

The whole airborne armada bit had me going "wtf" but I have missed a couple episodes so perhaps that was covered. And Cheza, poor Cheza. Darcia really has no regard for her well being at all. But then again he is toting around a dead chick like it's perfectly normal behaviour. A naked dead chick. NOW THAT'S TRUE LOVE OF MOST DUBIOUS VARIETY!

Last night's episode of Wolf's Rain is probably one of the best episodes I've seen yet. Finally the wolves, Quent, Hubb, Cher, Cheza, and Darcia all meet in person. There was a lot of fast-paced action in the episode, and at times this ep. had emotional points. The series is finally coming together for me, and I can't wait to see what's next after the supposedly doomed-recap episodes.

I give The Fallen Keep an A.

I'm not sure what to think about this episode. It was good, and the music was awesome when they were in Darcia's castle, but there was still something missing. Although this is my favorite episode just because you got to see more of Darcia.

So, is it official that they will be skipping the worthless clip shows? If so

Everyone is drawn to Darcia's castle and there is a show down between Lord Darcia and Wolf Kiba. During the sudden attack on the compound, Blue and Quent have a silent moment together, Darcia's cute assistant gets nuked :( , Hub/Cher/Cheza (along with Blue) are captured by the opposing Noble, while the rest escape through the raining debris. Finally it appears that Darcia and Homina meet their end as a huge explosion encompasses them.

I did enjoy this episode, but it felt a bit rushed. It would have been nice if Kiba/Darcia duel was better played out. Like having Kiba plunge his fangs into Darcia's arm or shoulder, instead of a passing slash attack. I agree that they should reveal the history of the nobles during the previous episodes instead of cramming it here with all these characters appearances and action. That opposing noble fleet just appearing out of no-where and started firing on the building was a bit much.

Still after all that, I am looking forward to the next episode.

Limited amount of screen caps (http://www.angelfire.com/anime5/sampo/Wolfs%20Rain.htm) due to bad cable reception accompanied by bad Ads.

The Jagara - Orkum stuff is one thing about this series that is quite confusing, even for someone like me who is watching it for the second time(up to this episode anyway). Hell, it took me the entire series my first time though before I could remember both Jagara's and Darcia's names and not get the two confused with each other.
I don't understand some of you...I mean, can you say, best WR episode ever? Nope. That was the Hubb/Quent road trip last week. The episode where the wolves only got a pittance of screentime.
There are recap episodes? As in NO new footage at all or recaps with no action at all? That's right. No new footage. Just narrations from a different character each time.

I really don't understand why people think its a hinderance to the quality of the series. Its easily skipable. Right, which is why CN is skipping them. They aren't really all that much of a hindrance to the series, the actual episodes do a fine job of hindering the quality of the series all by themselves.
I like having Blue in the mix and her final (?) farewell to Pops was handled nicely. Actually, the Blue/Quent angst is pretty much all there is left to look forward to in the series. Hubb and Cher get a couple of nice moments later on too.

I used to think that Darcia was the villain. But considering that he seems to be somewhat out of commission, or at least out of power, I'd lean more towards Jagara at this point. Based on what happened this week, she seems to be the main obstacle in the wolf's paths.

Hmm... I rather liked this episode, second only to Men's Lament (last week's). A couple of random thoughts, some of which have been repeated before...

Poor Darcia servant person. At least she seems to have an incredibly large pain tolerance. I don't think I'd be in any condition to serve anyone if I'd just been crucified to a door for a few hours or so.

I think the reason Jagura attacked Darcia's keep twice is because most of her army was off killing Orkum (Orcam? Orkim? no idea how to spell it...) and taking over the city, and all she could spare were some light troops to off Hammana and crucify the servant. The airships that attacked the keep this episode were probably sent over by Jagura as soon as she could spare them.

While I do think that the Blue and Quent reunion was kinda lame, I can't exactly blame Blue for having a lack of things to say. I mean, she's just found out that she's something that her "pops" has dedicated his entire life to destroying. Blah...

I thought some of the carvings in Darcia's keep looked way too much like space shuttles.

No recap episodes! Yay!

'sall for now.

Boy, that was some cliffhanger. I'm glad that I don't have to wait four Saturdays to see what happens next. Even though the recap shows show nothing new, do the characters narrating those recaps give any further interesting perspectives regarding the past events?

I thought the scene when Blue protected Kiba from Quent's shooting attempt was touching. I do wonder what will happen the next time Blue and Quent encounter each other. I'm very curious about Darcia's past and story behind his "magical" eye.
