New week. More of the same.

Also be on the look out for Seth MacFarlane Week episodes of Family Guy.

maybe we'll get those promised Action promos this week? or was the rarely seen Venture Bros ad it?

Chad Bonin
07-24-2004, 11:16 PM
Rarely seen? I've caught it four or five times now, considering I only watch the comedy + Case Closed...

seeing the first episode of sealab was a true laugh. seeing how the cast has evolved from the beginning to the most recent of episodes.. so incredible a transformation. still funny most of the time, this series is.

and was it me.. or did i hear plankton's voice in the futurama episode from one of the robots.

I might be mistaken though, but I swore the beginning was unfamiilar.

A new Lupin card consisting only of footage from that bathhouse ep.

This is how they should've plugged it from day one.

Am I the only one who doesn't see the point of advertising Lupin when they aren't getting new episodes? I mean, isn't it kind of a waste of money? Of course, they advertise Futurama a lot and they're never getting new episodes of that so...whatever...

Youko Recca
07-25-2004, 02:44 AM
Yeah that's smart, as a block let's not advertise something we would still want people watching. If it wasn't being advertised then people would ***** about it anyway.

Wounded_Dragon
07-25-2004, 03:34 AM
That never stopped them before. ;)

I am intrigued on why they seem to be putting a little more effort into Lupin than the rest. Maybe they're trying to keep people watching the whole block, since Lupin is on at the end, in an effort to curtail the drop offs that seem to occur after the new episodes? Not that they care after the first hour anyway.

Maybe the reason is that Lupin is an in-house favorite, and this may be the last time we get to see the super-theif, so they decided to make up some new promos?

Perhaps they know something we don't about the live-action Lupin III movie?

Maybe they will air the FUNi movies + Mystery of Mamo suddenly, even though they haven't announced the acquisition?

Solid numbers for both days. Glad to see Birdman with over 400 and in the top 3, with a new episode.

Saturdays looked good as well. Inuyasha in the 400's and the Comedy infusion is getting ratings so far. It'll be interesting to see how the ratings do whenever Venture bros becomes a factor.

If one assessment can be made from the Saturday ratings so far, its that they're erratic and totally unpredictable.

That alone could be what "saves" action on Saturday nights.

RedBoot
07-26-2004, 02:30 AM
With any luck, the Saturday ratings will maintain that boost until Venture Bros premires, and hopefully it'll catch on. Having an original 30 minute show become a hit would be a huge boost for AS.

Plus VB looks great. It's got pole-vaulting into a guy's esophagus, what more do you need?

Proof that people like the old Sealab (Saturday) more than the new Sealab (Sunday). :D

ATHF and Saturday Sealab is a wash.

Glad to see Inuyasha still holding its place as best of the Saturday anime, but I wonder how close to Inu the WR episode got.

Whatever, I think the upcoming ratings for this past Saturday (7/24) will be really crappy. That's based on the awful performance posted by the AS.com Hockey Chicken stunt, which only got about 60,000 visits on Sat., half the volume of the day before. That's an indicator that a lot of the young adult market wasn't home on the 24th. (^_*)

Wow, good Saturday ratings. I don't watch anime on Saturdays (just CC and occasionally Lupin) but hopefully the comedy will continue to bolster its ratings (if that's what's happening)

They snipped two seconds out of the Family Guy re-airing at 2:00 AM (1:00 AM for us central people). When Jasper was supposed to say "Someone send me out to sea!" in the re-airing it's cut so he only says "someone send me out.." and quickly cuts to a card.

Just a quick Lupin question: CN has the first 26 (minus that Nazi episode) of the series. So is episode 27 on the 5th or 6th DVD? The running times suggest DVD 6 though the disc descriptions don't make it very clear. Anyone know for sure?

All the episodes aired on CN are on the first 5 DVDs. In addition, the banned Nazi episode is also on the 5th DVD. The 6th and 7th DVDs contain unaired episodes.

The 6th and 7th DVDs with new episodes are called Lupin the Target and Royal Scramble. The fifth DVD with To Be or Nazi Be on it is called Mission: Irresistible.

I like the slogan (why would you watch anything else?) and the fact that that [as] is showing Lupin ads, but Lupin in Paradise is my least favorite ep of the seires thus far, and I think that they could have shown clips from other episodes. Just my opinion.

I hadn't noticed Moonlight Sonata playing in the background of "The Case of the Risible Dirigible" until last night. Such a beautiful song.

And those females don't usually wear bikinis or tight leather (sans coat anyway). The closest we get is Robin in her cycling outfit.

Just caught the Lupin promo last night. I don't know about you, but there's just something so hysterical about Lupin just STANDING THERE, gawking like a slack-jawed moron as the SAME EXACT animation of the mysterious women firing off rounds and rounds worth of bullets and gas canisters is played OVER and OVER again. It's just....funny....

God, I'm pathetic...

Between the Lupin promo with the girls, and the Stroker & Hoop promo with the almost-topless woman firing off a gun, I think we're learning a bit too much about a fetish of someone in the promo department ;)
