Contending for the very first time in the 60 Minutes or Less Animated category is SAMURAI JACK's "Birth of Evil" two-part special. It will be going up against The Simpson's "The Way We Weren't", South Park's "Christmas in Canada", and Futurama's "The Sting."

Meanwhile, only two nominees have been selected for the 60 Minutes or More Animated category, and both are from Cartoon Network. The first being the Powerpuff Girls Christmas Special ("Twas the Fight Before Christmas"), the other being Star Wars: Clone Wars.

This of course doesn't include the individual accomplishment awards, which should be announced at a later date, and will surely go to Samurai Jack and Clone Wars artists as per the usual.

This is fantastic news for Samurai Jack. "The Birth of Evil" was a magnificent piece of story telling and is a credit to the Samurai Jack franchise. It deserves the nomination and more over, to win it. Does anyone know what season the two episdoes fall under in the Samurai Jack series? Thanks

I don't know how I should feel when there is so little competition and with all of it being mediocre. I feel a big 'meh' coming on.

Nothing exciting. Wow, a category where the Sopranos isn't nominated. What a rare find! :p
