Every time I try to save a picture I've found on the internet, the only option Explorer gives me is to save it as a .bmp file. I can convert it back to .jpg, but I lose picture quality in the process. Anyone have any suggestions (besides switching to Netscape ;)) or can tell me how to fix Explorer?

There are several ways you can get around this. One is to save it as a bitmap (.bmp) and use an editor program to save it as a .jpg, or just keep it as a bmp, they're usually bigger but it's still a picture file.
The way I usually get around this is to look in the properties of the image and see if it gives you the full path of the file. Something like:
http://www.website.com/images/file.jpg
copy that into your browser address bar and it should take you to a page with only the image being displayed that you can do a "save as" on. Worth a try anyway.

Here's another question, since I've already started a thread:
I need dial-up for a little while. I want to go cheap. Who has the best service? Netzero? Juno? PeoplePC?

The picture thing has it always done that or did it just start recently?
Netzero and Juno are $9.95 a month. PeoplePC is $5.47 for the first 3 months then $10.95 only needing it for a little while I'd go with that.

PeoplePC is $5.47 for the first 3 months then $10.95 only needing it for a little while I'd go with that.I was hoping that someone knew of a page that compared quality of service between the three. In the absence of answers and needing something by Saturday, I've gone with PeoplePC at one friend's glowing recommendation. But it's left a sour taste in my mouth with the toolbar it added to my Explorer.

The bmp saving problem tends to pop up randomly like that it could be some bug in IE if you upgraded it or it could be your cache is set too big. Try lowering your cache size.

Click Tools then Internet Options and on the General tab where it says temporary internet files click settings there should be a little slider thing move that down I just always set mine at 1mb.
