Is it just me, or does anyone eles think the CN hosting show "Fridays" really is stupid. Alright, things kids watch on TV are supposed to be stupid, but this makes NO sense! Whiskers the cat that names Fruit.....WHAT??? The only reason I sit through it is so I can see the shows I watch on CN. PLEASE! I need other opinons on the subject so I don't go MAD!!!

What is CW?

And also, if it weren't for Fridays, this forum would not exist.

It's just packaging. You don't have to watch the packaging if you don't want to. You can always hit the mute button.

i know the host segments suck. if i was in the 6-11 demographic, i'd still think the same thing. that's why i just change the channel on commercial breaks for cnf.

the shows are okay...the segments suck...but the kitten is cute(but then again I've got a cat so I'm kind of biased)

The shows suck and the host segments REALLY suck. If I'm channel surfing around the time Fridays comes on, I go right past CN or flip on my Gamecube or PS2.

At first it sort of made sense. However, within a while, it got worse and worse. Now the host segments make absouleutly no sense. However, you can ignore the segments (they aren't really that long at all). I only watch Billy & Mandy and Ed, Edd, n' Eddy so the other shows are decent.

Duck dodgers comes on Fridays and I enjoy that. Also right after Friday's is .Hack//Legend of the Twilight and Cyborg 009 which I both enjoy. If you don't like the Friday shows, then just watch a different network, but I truly enjoy that 1 1/2 hours there.

I gotta agree with Saelphronof, even if I was that age I would never think a cat naming fruit is entertaining. I'd think it was the most stupid thing I'd heard of in my life. I thought the same thing when I first saw Power Rangers, cuz the fighting was so darn horrible. The point is that the old fridays > new fridays.

if it were up to me... miguzi should conquer fridays like it's conquered sunday.

just have her and her friends mention the new episodes as they come on.

all hail the little girl in the bright yellow two piece divesuit and her zany alien friends!

I liked it better when it was called Cartoon Cartoon Fridays and had those animated bumpers.

Let's get a few things straight:

1. This forum would exist without "Fridays". Since Cartoon Network quit branding their "Cartoon Cartoons" in 2001, we've decided to basically develop this forum into a general Cartoon Network forum. This forum is home for the whole channel, with the exception of Adult Swim and Toonami, which have their own forums because Toon Zone aquired sites related to those blocks.

2. "Fridays" is an experiment in the making. Anyone that has been watching since day one know the segments have gotten better. Within the past month they've added new sets, new characters, and try to mix things up even more. The past few airings have been a "best of" which focus on one thing (such as Whiskers), which makes it appear to be overly repetitive.

3. Anyone that wishes Miguzi would "take over" fridays is nuts. Miguzi has the most overly repetitive bumper and show schedule on the entire network. Fridays has something new every week.

4. Really look at your ages. Because of the rules, Toon Zone has no one here under 11 years old. Your sensibilities change greatly throught your teen years. "Fridays" is just like a more silly, more bold version of kids programming. Its one of the rare types that doesn't teach kids, it just entertains. It has fun. Its willing to try new things. Bottom line is that kids tune in, they give the block some of the HIGHEST ratings behind some Adult Swim premieres.

I'm not totally defending the block, but I can't say that it sucks and just end it. I've been watching since the first premiere and simply love the celebrity interviews, the pure cheese of Tommy, and the campy feel. Its like watching a "B movie" sometime. Its so bad, its good. The one part I think needs improvement are the talk-overs during credits. It seems like dead time having Tommy and Nzinga chat. If I had to suggest anything for the crew on "Fridays" is to keep experimenting. The show is very modular, and new segments can be popped in when needed. I also begged for more live action/animated segments within Fridays (such as in the intro).

My personal suggestion (which I think they've been following) is to go in the more Pee-Wee's Playhouse realm, as opposed to the Conan O'brien route. Everyone attacks because its not all-age friendly. Its not "family" programming in the sense a sitcom is. We'll SORRY, but CN is not aiming for the entire family. They're aiming at kids specifically on Friday nights, most likely to compete with Nickelodeon (with offerings of their own original programming the same night).

For those of you longing for the old Fridays...keep wishing. Fridays is a success among kids, like it or not. I also question if all even REMEMEBER the old Fridays or just in a nastolgic blur. The old CCF reran the bumpers worse than Toonami (hello, we saw Blossom host at least 10 times). I guess I think back and appericate the fun idea, but also realize the rerun-value of the old CCF was zero. Seen it once, seen it forever.

Whiskers reminds me of Toonces, the cat who could drive a car. I think it's just the "cat with an odd human ability" similarity, and certainly, the fruit-naming segments don't end as violently as the car-driving segments. I still like it, anyway.

A majority of the time I don't pay attention to what they're saying during the packaging potion of the block...mainly because I just have it on for background noise.

However, when I do pay attention to the skits or whatever you'd want to call them, more often then not I find myself amused. I mean, it's not comedy genius, but it makes for a good time to just shut your brain off and enjoy some people doing the most random things.

And no matter how ridiculous the idea of a cat naming fruit is...it makes me smile everytime the segment comes on.

I think the current presentation is by far, much better then getting the same repeated animated bumps like we did when it was Cartoon Cartoon Fridays. Atleast we get to watch something new every week.

I remember Toonces...now there's a novel thought, have Toonces crash through a fruit cart as whiskers names all the fruit as it hits the car

Well, atleast the repeats make sence.

Ok, it doesn't need to make "sense". It doesn't want to make "sense". Its supposed to be random and chaotic! That's the whole point!

Also if you keep tying in red type, I'm sure you will annoy people, including me. You really don't want to annoy me.

I think there is a post of mine somewhere long ago on this forum in 2003 where I refered to the hosts as Stupid and Annoying. But I have to admit that neither are stupid or annoying anymore and may never have been. As for it in general, I like 60% of what I see and dislike 40%, if I were eight years old I think I would like 85% and dislike 15%. But anyway I think the thing will improve and work better, I think it should become a little more like what Cartoon Network in general now is. It should exist more on the same level as kids rather than existing as an adult who gives cartoons to kids. Fridays is good, it really is, close to awesome.

And yes, CCF bumps sucked. It was for one outdated and like mentioned before gave the same lame animated hosts. It did have attempts at being better, like when they had that one shot PPG nerd character present CN trivia. But no, they sucked, even in my losery pre-teen day I was more than aware of this.

Hey speaking of the old Fridays, anyone remember the first one where they just showed the schedule and what would come on next, and behind it they but on a real live situation happening?

And yea, Miguzi taking over Fridays isn't at all likely to happen. I'm not a huge fan (even though it's not as bad as some of you guys are saying) but Miguzi taking over Fridays is really dumb.
