It's finally here, Let the Celebration Begin!
What activities does everybody have planned for America's Independence Day? :anime:

I'm going to my mom's friend's new house for a barbeque and to watch fireworks. Maybe, if the weather holds up, we will go swimming.

So many fireworks, yet there will be plenty for next year. :D

Also on the agenda to show my independence, a possible trip to Downtown Mobile's annual display of fireworks.

Uhm, today is July 3rd. But July 4th is my father's birthday so I'll be spending it with my family.

On Sun./Mon., my family's going up to Wisconsin Dells (for those that don't know, it's one of the biggest tourist towns in the state)- we have a condominium apartment that we own, so we'll be staying there. We'll catch the fireworks and go swimming in the pool there.

Actually tonight I might go to an air show in Dubuque, IA.

Side note: Too bad my computer has to be repaired during the holiday weekend- now it's going to take twice as long. It couldn't have gone on the fritz a week earlier, could it?

Well, I assume that tomorrow our family is going to have a backyard BBQ. I'll probably play yard games with my sister a lot of the day, and either go somewhere to see fireworks or just sit in our yard, which was what we did last year:)

Uh...today's July 3rd, right? I'm going to be going to a party I think for July 4th. Beer, beer, beer. Just kidding.

Well, the weather's been iffy where I live for the past two weeks. Hot + muggy + cold fronts = constant pop-up showers. So cooking outside is out of the question.

Not to worry, though - I just got back from the movie rental place with an armload of (hopefully) good stuff: Cold Mountain, Master and Commander, and Independence Day (just in case we don't like the other two movies :p ). Might order some barbeque from Corky's or something, too.

Happy American Indepdence Day! :D

The United States declared indpendence from Great Britain 228 years ago (in 1776). However, after a 7 year revolution for indpendence, the United States officially won its independence from Great Britain with the Treaty of Paris 221 years ago (in 1783).

The United States has had two governments in those 221 years. The first government -- under the "Articles of Confederation" -- was brief, lasting only from 1783 - 1789, a measly 6 years. The second and current government -- under the "Constitution of the United States" -- began in 1789 and continues to this day, or 1789 - Present. So, the current government of the United States is 215 years old this year! This makes it the oldest currently functioning government on Earth!

So, the United States turns 221 years old this year, and the current U.S. Government turns 215 years old this year.

A Little Background on Our Mother Country: England came into existence in 1066, when the Anglo and Saxon tribes were united through warfare under William I, who would become the first King of England. Scotland came into existence in 1034, when the Pict and Scot tribes were united through warfare under Duncan I, who would become the first King of Scotland. England and Scotland merged to become Great Britain in 1707, and then Great Britain merged with Ireland to become the United Kingdom in 1801. Though most of Ireland would break away after World War II to become an independent country, the United Kingdom -- of the four kingdoms of England, Scotland, Wales (which was once part of England), and Northern Ireland -- continues to exist today.

I think that learning about the country that the United States came from is as important as learning about the United States itself. After all, what better way to learn insight about a person than to study their parents as well? ;)

Time to break out the BBQ, hot dogs, and fireworks! God bless the U.S. & her allies! :p

It may still be July 3 in the U.S. itself, but there are Americans living all over the world right now, and in many time zones it's already July 4.

Happy 4th everyone!
I had to help out at work for a few hours this morning, but right now I'm all cleaned up and heading off with the family to a party down in the LA area. Close friends of my Dad from his work who we've known for years and years. One or other of the family's always hosts a party for like every single holiday. So, lots of people like twice my age and drinking and partying, should be fun! There's a pool there, so that's where I'll be hanging out, reading. Yay for summer fun!

Happy Fourth of July!!!!
We cleaned our garage this morning and boy was it messy, we found a lot of things that we could not find from a long time ago. I even found a Pinky and Brain paper weight, I had always wondered what happened to that.
Tonight we will be going to our neighbors from across the street and celebrating, we can see the whole front range of the mountains and about five places where the fireworks will perform even at the minor league ballpark right across the street. They will also have some fireworks on top of Pikes Peak which is about 14,110 feet above sea level, you can barely see them but it is still cool to watch. Right now it is raining so I hope the rain will go away soon so we can have fun and shoot our own fireworks too.
Have a fun night everyone.

It's raining on and off today, doubt there will be any fireworks

Other than that, I spent the night at my mom's last night, and came home, and that's about it.

Well Happy 4th of July everyone!

I spent most of the day and evening at a family gathering, which was fun. Grilled burgers and hot dogs, spending time with my 16 month old niece and just relaxing. Just glad to spend time with the people I care about and all that jazz. It was a nice sight on the ride back home on the freeway, I could see tons of fireworks displays.

I did what seems to be the standard in this thread. We have gone over to my Aunt and Uncle's the past several years with a combination of our family and her family. This year is actually moved to the house of one my Aunt's sisters, but it was still a good time. Bean bags, a pool, burgers, hot dogs and this great nacho cheese dip. :) We actually went home before my Uncle came back with the fire crackers, but at four hours we were ready to go home. We watched the end of the Macy's fireworks instead. Then we watched "Summer Catch" off a tape off of TV. ;) If you can get over any Freddie Prinze, Jr. hate you might have it's a pretty good movie.

happy belated 4th everyone! (in other words, happy 5th)

today i went to work at 11 AM and didn't get home until 8 PM. that's what happens when you work in a fast food joint. after that i went on toon zone to see what's up and then i played "mario and luigi: superstar saga" and then i went outside to sit in our lawn with my mom, 2 sisters, and pet dog, yogi. we can easily watch the big fireworks demonstration from our yard. i live in a town of about 200 and every year we get at least 7,000 to come to town to watch the show for an hour. it's quite fun

I was too busy to check this board yesterday, but let me say a Happy Fourth, thank goodness for no terrorist attacks, and to everyone, be proud of our country because some definite good things have come out of it.

Did anyone see the orchestra concert from Washington D.C. with Spin City's Barry Bostwick as the host? It was pretty good, and I believe it was repeated throughout the night.

Yeah it was raining here but I set off stuff anyway I lost a few soldiers mostly little flashy jumpy things. The best was this fake mortor thing which shot a red ball up and then exploded into an awesome shower of sparks. So yeah I spent the day playing Warcraft 3 and lighting fireworks. Hope everyone elses day went well.:)

I celebrated the day America got it's independence but not with fireworks, nor with a a barbeque. But by watching the final volume of Fruits Basket which, I believe, has become my favorite anime.

Happy much-belated Fourth of July to all my American friends. :)

I spent the day day in small-town America (Plattsburgh, in upstate NY) and it was fun. You wouldn't believe how many parades this accidental tourist ran into in the car over the past week. :p

I have a great day-to-day calendar of the newspaper comic "Off the Mark," and for July 4th, the comic shows a cat looking at the month of July in its calendar, and every day is marked Independance Day! :D
