You know how Sealab 2021, and HB:AAL are all spoofs of classic shows & characters, Do you think "Superfriends" could be one? They could also do a "He-Man" show or "Thundercats 2000", that would rock! I think 'Superfriends 2000' could be sweet!

It definitely could be, but currently Warner Bros. has a law in place over at CN that forbids any lampooning of the Superfriends.

With Justice League / JL Unlimited airing in the daytime, CN might not want a show poking fun at the same heros. On the other hand, a Superfriends spoof might get the adults to watch JLU when it premieres. So...who knows? Or maybe CN's decided that they've spoofed/remixed old cartoons enough and should start emphasizing new material like ATHF.
We've already had some good shorts, like The Wonder Twins, the famous "What we need is a twenty!" "A TWENTY!" theater skit, and who could forget "I just want some pants!"? So if they DO decide to spoof the Superfriends again, it should be good.

I thought they had something like this, but it's only on Cartoon Network Latin America because of issues with Justice League.
^That was the Aquaman show, not Superfriends.

Yeah. That's what I was thinking about. I just remembered it a moment after I posted that.

Think about what hilarious jokes could come from Batman's Relationship (Wink, wink) with Robin. And like on FG with all the guys being perverts telling WW to take off her bra.:anime:
Aquaman and Friends wasn't allowed to air Stateside because of Justice League.:(
Any new Superfriends spoof won't air as long as Justice League Unlimited is on.:(

Why? Just because JL is on, Why would CN not want a Superfriends spoof show. It's not gonna piss anyone off, Why?:(

It'll piss off their sister/parent company. That's reason enough to not lampoon the superfriends. CN might think it's funny, but Warner wouldn't, and they don't seem to be on great terms as it stands.

Damn, I am just imagining how funny this show would be if Williams Street did it:D
"Solomon Grundy want pants too!"
The little shorts they had for the villans were classic. Is a shame they couldn't develop them and the Superfriends into an actual show.

I'm sure DC Comics loves the notion that, while trying to rebuild Aquaman as a serious hero, CN made a series laughing at him...

If a Superfriends parody/remake were as funny as the Harvey Birdman episode "Very Personal Injury", I'm all for it. Fab-tabulous. :D

I can't believe no one has mentioned the Dancing Aquaman bits that aired during the early days of Adult Swim.

CN's got a lot of franchises that are ripe for parody, like those space biker teens they ran with the 80's space ghost series whose names escape me, or perhaps some kind of "Immunity challenge of the Go-bots" reality show send-up
and how can you forget my favorite Superfriends interstitial?
WW: you girls are developing into the quite the young superheroines
Bubbles: Someday we'll be as developed as you!
I'm sure DC Comics loves the notion that, while trying to rebuild Aquaman as a serious hero, CN made a series laughing at him...
Well, that's pretty much a lost cause from the get-go. Aquaman sucking is like the speed of light--a universal constant.
I personally miss the dancing Aquaman bits. They added some much needed anarchic insanity to the block.

Oh my god, that has so much potential. A "survivor" or "Big Brother" parody with two or three cartoon series groups competing, characters getting voted off at the end of the episode... :D
I think, for more of a Sealab type show, the Herculoids would be a good choice. Dysfunctional family trapped on a planet with those weird animal-critters. Occasional visits from Space Ghost, those kids on the space-motorcycles, and so on.

Why Superfirends? Why not those early Marvel Shows with Dr. Doom sounding like a complete nerd...
Those are even more ripe for mockery...especily considering the the Fantastic Four cartoon has episodes with that stupid robot...

Because the Superfriends are LITERALLY sitting there, waiting for someone smart to come and satirize them. IT WOULD BE HILARIOUS!

I agree that a Superfriends parody would be hilarious. They should get Seanbaby to write it, although it would have to be rated R.
However, the original Superfriends show by itself is so ridiculous that it's almost like a parody of superheroes as it stands. It would be hard to generate more laughs than it has already.

I still don't understand why DC and Warner would be upset. WS would be making fun of the "old school" versions of these super heros. The ones that were more campy and were taken less serious than the ones today. When was the last time on JL we saw Superman circle the Earth to go back in time? When was the last time on JL we saw Batman ride the Bat Copter and use some super villan repellent? Never. These traits never were adapted in the modern characters. So why are they afraid of if WS is poking fun at everything that JL isn't today?
We don't hate the Aquaman that appeared on Superman:TAS or JL:TAS. We just hate the old campy Aquaman that seemed to be useless unlike his modern version.
So I don't see this as a big issue when DC and Warner are getting credit for it both ways.

Because Time-Warner owns DC Comics, and any bad lampooning of Marvel characters could be seen by Marvel as TW's bias towards DC. With such a TW-DC connection, there's no way to escape from such speculations. No good would come out of that Marvel-TW partnership, and maybe even increase animosity when disagreements boil over.

I too don't see the problem. I mean, Justice League makes fun of the Superfriends for God sakes! Like in the first episode when Superman suggests they form a team, Flash goes "You mean like a Superfriends"? Or that time in that museum where they blew up that statue of the Wonder Twins. Or that time where they thought Superman was dead and Flash kept on suggesting they make Aquaman the new member. If the Justice League is all for making fun of the Superfriends I don't see why Time Warner would be opposed to it.
There's a really, really big difference between in-jokes and what WS would turn Wonder Woman into. :D

CN did do a Survivor parody when that show was at the height of it's popularity in a series of segments. Wonder Woman, Daphne, Blossom, Brak, Betty Rubble, and others were among the contestants. I think Brak initially won.

I think this would be a GREAT Idea! It's always entertaining to see characters who are usually very serious, do funny and goofy things.:p Thats why Sealab and Harvey Birdman are so funny to me.

too bad there are no current plans to make the superfriends into a as show..
i mean, wouldn't it have been funny for one episode to have 'replaced superfriends batman with btas batman' like in a soap, and have the animated batman of the 90's kick all their arses??
and then at the end, when legion of doom is in their lair, near death and on life support.. they suddenly have luthor of superman: tas buy out the doom and have them all dumped in the ocean!?!
ahh... what dreams might have come.
dunno why i should wax nostalgic for the yet to exist.. but i did see an exit sign for williams street in atlanta once.
i was probably pretty close to techwood drive, too.
shame i couldn't have dropped something off there while i was in atlanta..
oh well. c'es la whatever,

With Apache Chief and Super Volt/Black Vulcan being used in HB:AAL from time to time and used pretty well in "Peanut Puberty" (outside how AC showed the concept of sex to Peanut and the Wonder Twins being used in those short clips, they could form a...
...spin-off! Use characters DC doesn't care if they get changed into comedic characters or sometimes downright spoofs of themselves.
I don't know many 2nd- and 3rd-tier characters were used in Superfriends, but they could base it around AC and SV/BV, who have been given airtime and been developed somewhat. AND they could always throw in HB characters.
PICTURE IT: A spoof of the Serious Indian Sterotype, and a spoof of the Wild and Crazy Black Guy with Street Slang, together as buds, fighting crime and making mockeries of controversial issues in modern times=
-and being "Hard Traveling Heros":
Apache Chief: You always have all the answers, Super Volt! Well, what's your answer to THAT--?
Super Volt: Gleek is a JUNKIE!
Jace: Actually he was just snacking on this powder-coated donut here.
Jayna: That was a close one! Remember kids, just say no to drugs!
Jace: You said it sis!
Gleek: Now give back my donut!
Everyone: GASP!
Hong Kong Phooey: Now don't THAT beat all?
Spot: Sigh...

That could work. Look at all the characters the Supefriends created specifically for the show:
- Wendy, Marvin, and Wonder Dog
- The Wonder Twins & Gleek
- Apache Chief
- Black Vulcan
- Samurai
- El Dorado
Toss in all the lame and campy villains the cartoon created (especially in the first pre-Wonder Twins season) and you'd have a show.

Personally, I think Hong Kong Phooey should star in a film noir detective series... kind of like this (http://www.livejournal.com/users/bassist/52228.html)...
