You know the drill. Birdman goodness…you comment on it.

Also there is to be no use of analogies, similes, or metaphors in this thread. I mean it. NONE!

This was a pretty funny episode, but it felt pretty short. The bit with all the characters being buffed up was cute, and the olympic game parodies were cute. I actually enjoyed that Gigi was back and that Mentok had no real bit tonight. I could have dealt without the Laugh-olympic global delegates, although the "oral sex" joke was vulgar yet funny. The ending was funny too, "It could give a girl a beard."

Overall it was an average episode, but enjoyable.

An average episode for Harvey Birdman. Some good jokes, some that fell flat. Reducto stole the show in this one.

Except for Reducto, this episode was pretty bland. What was up with Birdman's assisstant?

not good but I don't expect much from Birdman. Gigi is like the worst character so why did they go and bring her back? yuck! combining the court stuff with olympic ratings an stuff was pretty funny an so was the end song so its not a total loss http://members.aol.com/kimminakochan/chicken.gif

The announcers were annoying, "Natural Hi" dragged on for too long (esp. for a Birdman ep.), and the ending was just...there. Worst ep. I've seen.

it had a good basis for an episode, however I could have done without Gigi and whatever revolved around her. That and an annoying French joke sortof made this episode crumble upon a good concept.

Geez, what's up with Birdman nowadays? What happened to the good stuff that was prevalent in "The Devlin Made me Do it"

The Witch Doctor's son? I guess it's suppose to be a joke on Witch Docotrs or something. I liked ATHF's better though. "Arise Chicken!"

The episode was weird to say the least. Of course, with Birdman, weird is the norm, and the least is just weird. I noticed that Blip was one of the Steriod Victims. The first Space Ghost refrence. I hope not the last. Also, this was one of the few episodes with Peter Potomus in it where he didn't say his catchphrase "Did you get that thing I sent you?". I didn't expect them to bring back Gigi. But I wonder if it's a good or bad thing if Birdman tries to bring back continuity. No one seems to like Gigi... and that includes me.

The Good: The complete intro's back.

The Bad: Everything else. This episode was brutally moronic and viciously unfunny for anyone not suffering severe skull trauma and/or above the age of 6. Gigi somehow managed to be less funny this time than she was before, and she was direly unfunny before. And damn if she didn't drag the whole episode down with her.

I get worried about which way this show is going sometimes. When they play with some of the conventions of the old Hanna-Barbera toons it works great, it has it's own voice, and it's funny without having to try so bloody hard.

Then you have episodes like this, that plunder the same ground Sealab has just about exhausted, with the same unfunny results. The Jetsons ep was so good, why is this one so bad?

We don't need another Sealab, all we want is life beyond Thunderdome. F

That's klind of off and on actually. I remember it being in one of the other Flash-Animated episode this season. (I think it was "SPF" or something like that). I believe they have the long opening if the episode is fairly short. If they play the Short opening, it's one of the longer episodes.

Meh. Liked Reducto, the witch doctors ("He is just asleep, right? ...Wait, don't tell me.") and the various characters on steroids, but the rest was so-so. I was surprised they brought Gigi back. The whole "she's a slut" joke is so very, very old though. My favorite part was "Naturally High," mainly because of Birdman's stylin' jacket.

I also want to point out I'm beginning to be annoyed at poking fun of Birdman being incapable of 'getting some' and being ridiculed because of his sex life or something like such because of Gigi.

It's not funny, it's annoying.

I must've missed the first episode she showed up in.

DUMB QUESTIONS: Is she Galaxy Girl?

fI so, is this before those SGC2C episodes with HB, or did they get divorced and then remarried, or is this a separate continuity or just whatever suits the moment like with the Brak episodes with the SGC2C "origin" or how they used the old ATHF/SGC2C script after changing the concept and making the ATHF show separate?

I'm thinking WAY into this :p

I remember Harvey mentioning her WAY back in SGC2C when they protrayed him as a complete loser.

I used to love watching the old Galaxy Trio cartoons. and the Baby ones were okay as a passing laugh, and was waiting to see her in HB:AAL after seeing that commercial where it looks she got married to Harvey's boss while he looks like the clinging loser with her pushing him away and his pants fallling down. I assuming the episode went a different route with HB and GG being married in this ep?

I can see how they're making fun of old HB characters for comedy's sake and I'd admit I'm biased, but I hated how they protrayed Birdman in SG and now this. I hope she doesn't get stuck with this image, or other characters I like like Secret Squirrel since SG is popular for his current edition and I can see how any other recurring HB characters in these shows may get stuck with these versions of them.

I feel guilty now since I didn't mind much with the other charaters that I didn't care about. Maybe I need a better sense of humor, then again, some of the more recent vulgarity in some of these shows I don't like much, which may either mean a better sense of humor, or it may just be my tastes or maybe it means my moral side is telling me something.

Or I could be thinking too much about this.

Still like the idea of Galaxy Girl being a slut...

Wow. So I'm the only one who liked this episode? I thought it was great after the last batch of mediocre episodes (The Jetsons one, and the one with that dog stuck out.) Grape Ape and his issues with steroids was hillarious. The band that was formed at the end cracked me up as well.

this episode was pretty good. I just got something! Galaxy Girl = GG= Gigi! Am I just an idiot? The dad boobs joke was surprising but hilarious, loved the opening, Grape Ape was voiced by the guy that voices Mentok, the Reducto iceskating ranking joke was really funny too. This show is just too fast, it would work better as a half hour show IMO.

Overall: 4/5

I think we could have done without the delegates or much of the storyline involving Gigi being pregnant, although at least she is still married to Harvey, Phil and others. Also, we could have done without all the references to Grape Ape's genitals; it worked much better with Secret Squirrel "flashing" people.
I did like Mentok's appearance (with the unshrinkable Grape Ape) and the judges in the program. "Aw, who listens to the French anyway?" And I am surprised to see that Grape Ape was not in character for much of the show. Overall, this was not much to be excited about. Grrrrrape Ape.

The Witch Doctor's son? I guess it's suppose to be a joke on Witch Docotrs or something.

If one followed news events, there was a big scandal on Salt Lake City concerning bribes on Olympic bidding. One form of bribe was giving family members of International Olympic Committee (IOC) delegates "token salaried jobs" where they do nothing but get paid for it. A Korean IOC delegate and his son got in trouble for it.

considering that George Jetson mentioned that he is Harvey's great grandson(or was it just grandson?)...FROM THE FUTURE!

What I don't understand is if they bothered keeping Gigi in continuity, then why couldn't they of had her stay pregnant, and devote a minute or two to it every other episode. Then when they build up to the ending (putting actual thought into the punchline) have one hell of a punchline. It works better than just tacking on the idea (Although I enjoyed the aspect of the show more than others) to an episode that doesn't need it tacked on and then "solving" it with an "oh my God what the ****?" joke.

I'm amazed that this group doesn't appreciate all the rather topical jokes concerning the modern Olympics that find their way into this episode. Let's see the list:

1. The corniess of rhythmic gymnastics (well, to an American audience anyway)
2. Beagli Beagli as the chain-smoking Beli Karoli
3. Steroids (the obvious joke)
4. The corrupt Olympic organizing committee members
5. The corrupt people willing to pad the pockets of these people to get an Olympic bid.
6. Son of witch doctor...see reason #4.
7. Pervasive annoying advertisments
8. Use of OTC medications that might be banned (creatine)

Good point. I thought those jokes were mildly funny but the satire they were going for fell a little flat in my opinion. Maybe it is because we are so far removed the last big heavily publicized Olympic scandal.

Overall, I enjoyed the episode despite it lacking a cohesive direction. But then again HBAAL is known for the scattershot barrage of gags. But this episode was crammed with probably one or two too many running gags.

Play some of the conventions of the old Hanna-Barbera toons? What usually makes them funny is that they usually aren't in their typical conventions. I can't really see a comparison of Sealab to this. Okay, maybe a tad, but it really is a completely different animal than Sealab.

I meant in that "Sealab" now depends on stupid sex jokes and character tics for everything they label as "comedy," long after any and all possible humour has been brutally beaten out of both.

Ok, I actually caught most of this episode, I was sorta half paying attention, and it was the encore I believe anyhow, but I thought it was an Ok episode.

Funniest Part for me was when Reducto shrunk Grape Ape and when he started growing, Reducto runs screaming "I've met the unshrinkable!!!" or something like that.

Another ok funny part was talking about Grape Ape's lack of testis and that he isn't exactly in proportion..

The jury acting as judges and then mentok's remark of "no one listens to the french anyway" on the only not guilty vote.. Good stuff.

I wasn't too fond of the whole Gigi thing, but it was nice to see the marriage thing still exist.. and I loved that at the end where Harvey had the doc say that the dad of Gigi's baby was Grape Ape.. :D

I give "Grape Jucied" a B-.

While HB may have some of these types of jokes (although I do dispute that Sealab is simply made up of same, but that is another argument), I still don't think that it relies on them for the whole show. I mean, HB is much more "down to earth" than Sealab is.

HBAAL doesn't rely on them exclusively, no, but when given a choice between the two this season they seem to go for the cheaper, less funny, joke.

Maybe I wouldn't notice if they wouldn't try to run an A and B plot in roughly 15 minutes, but I doubt it.
