Vanunu the man who revealed to the world Israel's secret WMD program was released from prison after 18 years. I think the guy is a hero. Now if we could only get the US interested in Israels WMD program.

Now if we could only get the US interested in Israels WMD program.I'd have to agree. I mean first of all, Nukes are a Deterrent weapon. It makes no sense to keep them secret unless you're planning something sinister.
And Secondly, The Israeli Government is the Third Most Hostile Government in the Region. http://www.palestinechronicle.com/article.php?story=2003071620253547
How many of the Current Governments in the Region have purposefully attacked a US Navy ship? (A Navy ship whose Intel Gear had the capability to record anything Broadcast in the region.)
Iran, Libya, and ... Israel.
I Never trusted that Country (Actually, any theocratic nation seems suspicious to me as they have a tendancy for disturbing behavior). and more than anything I disagree with the US Subsdising them. I think that the US should "extract" Vanunu and get him a job with the IAEA.

Maybe the prime minister liked surprises?
But I agree, I'm somewhat loathe to admit it, but I distrust religious states (for the sake of disclosure, I distrust religion in general) and Israel has been done little but become more belligerent and hardline as time goes on. Keeping watch on things like nuclear development et cetera are very important with such in potentially unstable state. There are enough frightening scenarios to make me very worried.

When I first read the story of Mordechai Vanunu I was quite honestly shocked, not just by his revelation but also by the subsequent actions of the Israeli government. And while I can somewhat appreciate the perception of vulnerablity that the Isreali's confronts on a daily basis, it's hard to reconcile that with the treatment of this individual.
