Ugh! My cousin is in the army, possibly in Iraq, and it makes me wonder if he's seen anything like this.

"Camel spiders are venomous, and their venom contains a powerful anesthetic that numbs their victims (thus allowing them to gnaw away at living, immobilized animals without being noticed). U.S. soldiers were said to have been attacked by camel spiders at night but remained completely unaware of their plight until they awakened in the morning to find chunks of their flesh missing." Thats just..ugh. The spiders look awesome and all but THAT^ is just ugh.

Camel spiders are non-venomous and have only a 5" leg span.

-JerkBoxAccording to most spider experts, these claims are all false." Somehow I missed that.

They just look big because they're close to the camera. They're no bigger than the soilder's hand in the foreground, partly cropped out.

Dear God that scared the hell out of me. They just look big because they're close to the camera. They're no bigger than the soilder's hand in the foreground, partly cropped out. That's very good to know. I wonder if they alive in that picture? I assume so since one appears to be holding on the the other one with it's mouth....creepy

Another freaky note: is it just me or is the entire image in focus, INCLUDING the background? I know of at least one lense capable of this, but I doubt it'd be in the bag of a tourist photographer, or even a soldier taking pictures to show his buddies at home.
Of course, me not being a professional, I could easily be wrong.:)

I've heard about those things from my Dad from when he was over in the Gulf at the end of the First War.
Now I just wish I could remember the amusing anecdote about them.

Your in a casket. Everything is completely dark, yet you notice the casket is not closed. Suddenly you feel something crawling on your leg... it's moving towards your head. You reach out to get it off, but before you can, light as bright as a spotlight shines upon your body. You catch a glimpse of the large yellowish creature just as it jumps towards your face...

LOL! I knew those spiders looked familliar!
True spiders or not (they have 10 legs, not 8), they still look like about an 11/10 on the Creepometer.
