I thought it'd be kinda cool if we could do a thread for this since it's only once a year...kinda like christmas but without the fruitcake....so let's talk about tax day!

I think the ease of e-filing is gonna continue lessening the effect of April 15. I too did it a couple months ago, my refund is gone and spent.
i love having fake papers...i have all the perks of being a adult...i dont trust online with something like txes it's way to risky...
*should probably have done his taxes*
But hey, I'm only 18, and I only had a three-figure income last year (maybe four). I doubt the IRS will care...

If you have an income in the low four figures you probably don't have to pay any taxes, but I'm fairly sure they still want you to file. Odds are they'll be willing to overlook it though as long as you don't owe anything.
I just sent mine off yesterday and I have a refund coming. How stupid is that?

I did my taxes in February and got my rebate in March. So nothing interesting happened today.

Howdy,
Hey, any time you gotta pay sales taxes or get payroll taxes taken out of your paycheck is tax day. April 15 is INCOME tax day, which isn't the same thing.
Lucky us, we got to file Federal and TWO state taxes because of the weird relationship between New York and New Jersey and because we moved last year. Beats the time we moved from NJ to NY back when my wife and I were living in sin, where we got to file SIX returns in one year (federal and two states for each of us filing singly).

I hate income taxes. And not because I have a problem with taxes. (I enjoy Interstates and a military to defend me as much as the next person.) It's because they're intrusive, expensive to maintain (the U.S. Government spends billions of dollars trying to collect a few trillion dollars), and complex in the extreme.
I'm in favor of abolishing Income Taxes in favor of a National Sales Tax. Let's say, 10% on anything you buy (States could abolish their own Income Taxes and add up to another 8% to it). They could even make items like food and daipers tax-free...
This would make taxes transparent, efficient, fair (the less you spend, the less taxes you'll pay), and protect privacy at the same time. The government would run a lot more smoothly and cheaper too, with no IRS...
