Guys, I need your help. I need to get info about California. Like say, attractions, history, economy, agriculture, landmarks, interesting facts, etc. Seriously people, I need to do this. And you guys aren't the only place (even though I'm not part of any other forums yet). Much appreciated.:)

Errr...uhhh...you DID do a search for California on the net, right? I'm sure there's a zillion places you could look.

Hell, you could just go to the local AAA and pick up a travel book for California - I know there's plenty of stuff in there, too. I have one myself. :)

For landmarks, nothing beats the Golden Gate Bridge. God this thread makes me nostalgic...

I live in El Cajon! So I can tell you that the San Diego Zoo and Whaley House are very Famous. The Whaley House is a Haunted House that is Full of Ghosts,But I never have been there before. Just seen Ghost Pics on the Internet. Also,Sea World and Disneyland are Cool as well. So is Universal Studios. I miss Nebraska, though. I miss Henry Doorly Zoo,Old Market and Eppley Airport.
BTW,Are you talking about San Diego when you mean "California"?

The ultimate (and official!) State of California website!

http://www.state.ca.us/

(In fact, you can access any of the 50 States' websites by simply changing the postal abbreviation in the URL above -- 'TX' for Texas, 'NY' for New York, 'FL' for Florida, etc.)

And, just for the information, the U.S. Governement also has its own Web portal:

Did you know? :)

California would have the world's 9th largest economy if it was an independent country. It produces $1 trillion dollar GDP annually (The entire United States produces $12.5 trillion GNP annually!)

California was the first Western State to join the Union; in fact, it was already a State in 1861, and was considered part of the "North" during the American Civil War.

California is the most populous State in the United States -- at 54 million people (and counting), 1 in 5 Americans is a Californian.

Totaling nearly three million acres, San Bernardino County in California is the largest county in the country.

The first motion picture theater on Earth opened in Los Angeles, California, on April 2, 1902.

San Francisco Bay is considered the Earth's largest landlocked harbor.

The largest three-day rodeo in the United States is held on the Tehama County Fairgrounds in Red Bluff, California. (That's right! It's not in Texas like everyone would think! We do have the second largest three-day rodeo in Houston, though :))

Regarding SD, yes if you're 21. Then all of Downtown and Pacific Beach are open to you (if you can find the parking). Balboa Park is all-ages and should never be missed though. On a gorgeous sunny day, it's beautiful to stroll through.

And Spike and Mike's Twisted Animation Festival is playing this weekend and next weekend in downtown La Jolla.

Only gripe, not enough Asian food. I swear, they're keeping all the Chinese bakeries 1) a secret or 2) in National City. But hey, it could be worse. I could have no Asian food at all. That would be really really bad. :(

As for all of CA, I'm most familiar with the Bay Area where the Golden Gate Bridge is (mentioned above), super-windy Lombard St., Silicon Valley tech, excellent theatre (both in SF and across the bay in Berkeley), etc.

Overall, one word to remember: Earthquakes.

Gotta agree with everyone on San Diego so far. :D

But I gotta give some props to Los Angeles, being raised in the LA area most my life. It's a great cultural center full of museums and fine art centers. The newest being Disney Concert Hall, the new home of the LA Philharmonic. In my hometown of Arcadia, we have the Santa Anita racetrack. If you're a Seabiscuit fan, that's where they run the one hundered grander. Also, great food finds from all over the world. :)
