as usual... mcgurk is so funny... but he's going under the knife? whoa.

all you can have drugs. where did he get them?

and we're cancelling the series just because ping pong has been introduced? whoa.. now that's actually intriguing. and sad knowing this is all gonna end soon.

for once i disagree with mcgurk on killing that eyeball dude.

getting cut up by lasers is funny.

wow.. mcgurk was so funny when he was blind.

and now this series wants to mock tommy by the who, huh? very trippy..

to this day, i'll never understand why just about all the clothes in brendons' world are akin to divesuits in having their hands covered up.. really.

wow... mcgurk without vision is angry, huh? but he seems so psychic without his sight. wish i had some chocolate soy milk...

more fun with timmy and those.. two..

now this is a path mcgurk has never gone down before... wish he could read my future, i got $20 right now..

now melissa is getting unnerved from the assignment.

so now mcgurk can see?! and isn't psychic. niiice.

did i hear this some of talk from john edwards?

wow.. nice impersonations. now that's a surprise. the zeus was funnier more than accurate, though.

take the money and run, huh? heh. good luck.

melissa's tree is sure screwed up.. heh. and jason's one was a nice ending to the show.

i predict this episode won't be forgotten. anytime soon.

seeing is whatever,

An odd episode, the Jimmy thing was funny as was John's blindness. His initial reaction to being blind was classic and his connection of dead celeberties and Johnny Carson was hilarious. Overall it was a good episode.

Meatwad and McGurk can come over to the house and detect the freshness of my chocolete milk.

The second to last Home Movies episode is the best one ever: humor, plot, and backstory. Or maybe it's tied with "Storm Warning" and "Bad Influences." But those don't have the Timmy Soundtrack.

I smell burning eye.

I don't even know if ferrets exist.

Hopefully, Lasik surgery will become less expensive and safer due to this episode. It's one of the first shows on TV to have a story about it.

The Landstander

I wish they would've done a little more with the family tree storyline (apparently Andrew and Linda no longer exist...although Brendon's tree did refer to Linda as "Blondie". Heh.) but even then it was good stuff. Biggest problem was a few bits went on too long (like the laser eye surgery video or one of the "Timmy" movie segments... =\ ).

But overall I liked it. Big step up from last week.

BTW...ADOPTED ====OOOOOOO

Now this is more like it.

The McGuirk stuff worked real well ("I hate Mr. Stingy too! I'd like to kill the son of a *****!") and the "Tommy" parody was, not surprisngly better than the movie it parodied and far easier to follow. It kind of fell apart at the end, but Jason's ferret monologue managed to keep me laughing to the degree I didn't mind too much.

And here I was afraid they'd lost it: A

WEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLL, It'll probably get old, but we finally found out KINDA about Josie. Not that it really matters who her parents were (even though most of us assumed Paula was the biological one). BESIDES, some biological kids of parents of one race will look like another because of ancestors.

Funny episode. SUPRISED they didn't really solve the deal with Melissa's mom and her side, but like that it wasn't immediately fixed (didn't her mother run off anyway? I wouldn't want her to immediadely become a better mom in 2 minutes and all was forgiven)

Jasons's imaginary pet's of the imaginary ferret's race lineae :D Not to mention some comments on past customs.

BTW,what was the deal with the movie? I liked it, it was both creepy and funny at diferent times, but what was up with that?

With "Temporary Blindess", Home Movies wanders into a belated but hilarious spoof of John Edwards and psychics in general, and I give points for no attempts at Miss Cleo jokes. The movie was a little hard to follow, but had great humor and an appealing Kubric (or perhaps Altman... anyone seen Brewster McCloud?) feel to it. The family tree side story was an effective back-up and I found it funny overall.

I think it's just short of legendary greatness, but it's excellent nonetheless. **** out of *****

And on an aside, my reviews suck.

I'm amazed that people don't know what that movie was a parody of.

TIMMY.

What could that be a parody of? What psychodelic pot movie could that be spoofing? I wonder. I wonder Who.

I was laughing hysterically at the first half. The second half almost ruined it- McGuirk's plot fell apart when it became predictable and not very funny. The Timmy movie was funny (I've never seen Tommy, so I can't say how closely it parodied) even if I didn't know just what was going on. There were a lot of subtle jokes that worked well- Did anyone else catch Paula saying "Brendon, go start the car."? Overall good, but McGuirk's plot was a major thorn in this episode's side.

I think this episode could have actually used a little bit more on the family side. McGuirk kinda took over.

still good though

I'm not surprise at Josie's revelation at all. In an earlier HM episode (one of the Paula Poundstone episode as a matter of fact), Paula mentions to Brendon that "(he) and Josie weren't the reason why she split up with (his) dad", which implied that she already had Josie when she was with Andrew. Since Josie didn't look like either of them, I always assumed she must've been adopted.

Anyway, contract my *****. Home Movies needs to go on for another 52 episodes at least. This was a darn good episode. The Tommy parody was so funny.

The revelation about Josie reminded me of Dale and Joseph from "King of the Hill". I didn't realize Joseph wasn't his biological son until the episode where Peggy figured it out, and they did the repeated shot of Joseph standing next to John Redcorn. I felt like a shmuck for not realizing it before then, just like I do now.

Very funny episode. The Tommy parody was great (And I'm suprised it wasn't obvious to some as well) - I don't think I've ever been dissapointed by a musical sequence in Home Movies. The spoofs of laser eye surgery and psychics were amusing as well.

Only 2 More? Too bad.

Highlights of "Temporary Blindness" included the McGuirk is Blind subplot, the Timmy song, the various WWE references and McGuirk's various celebrity impressions.

Out of 5, I give it 3.5.

The greatest parts of the episode were the little video, "What's 'eyes'?" and the "Tommy" parody. Odd, the music video was animated exceptionally better than the entire show itself.

Anyway great episode I couldn't stop laughing from the time they showed McGuirk drugged up to the time they left the office. Jason's ferret story was also hilarious and I knew what the Timmy parody was it just took me forever to remeber that the name Tommy.:o

I thought it was very good. The Tommy parody was absolutely, positively funny as hell.
"RUN, TIMMY! RUN AS FAR AS YOU CAN!" I loved McGuirk as a psuedo-psychic. During the seance, I have expected somebody to scream "HEY! THIS GUY'S A GREAT BIG PHONY!" exactly like in a certain ep of Family Guy. I also believe that Jason's "ferret" Pepopo had a funny name and an equally funny heritage. *laughs* Pepopo. Pepopo. You just try to say it yourself without laughing.
So, to sum it all up, this was great. I can only hope the finale will be even better. A-

This was a great episode. I always thought Josie was so cute. I love babies with glasses that are always smiling.:) I love how Paula adopted her. In fact I think I'm in love with Paula period.

McGuirk was funny with his phony psychic plot. It reminded me of the cold readings Stan did in the South Park that ripped apart John Edward. I loved how he told Brenden that he negotiated down and Brenden didn't really seem to care.

I've never seen Tommy so the parody was lost on me but the animation was really cool. (So was the animation in the eyeball film strip.)

Melissa was as adorable as usual. Jason's imaginary ferret was funny as well.

Walter and Perry are getting married! Yaaaay!!!! (Must be in Massachusetts.)

Score for this episode: *****.

Sisto Kid

Damn...I was hoping this episode would be on the "Honkey Magoo" level of suckitude so I wouldn't lament so badly about Home Movies going away.

Turns out it was damn funny.

Esp: The "Tommy" parody

McGurk being a psychic

Jason. Period. :D

And the whole thing about Josie being adopted. Whoa! NOW it makes sense!

It also kinda underscores how cool Paula Small is. Think about it...she's a single mom, probably barely getting by, and yet she adopts a child...another mouth to feed. (Unless the adoption happened while she was still married to Andrew) Gotta give her props on heart.

Dammit...now I'm REALLY gonna miss this show. :(

Rating: ****1/2 stars.

So, in conclusion, she's ADOPTED! Finally, all the questions to where Josie comes from are answered. That I wanted.

The episode was hilarious. Of the 2 of 3 final episodes, this is up there with Definite Possible Murder. McGuirk was hilarious (as always). His blindness was funny. His channeling of dead celebrities (oddly enough Johnny Carson (who's not dead)) was great, "do not drink the chocolate milk".

I wish we could have seen more of the family tree stuff. Josie's question was answered, but what about Jason?!?!*? Altough, the ferret family tree was funny.

Timmy! That was weird. I mean weird. I like weird, so...

My positives were Eye Surgurey Video, Family Tree, ADOPTED!, Blindness, Timmy
My negatives were what about Jason's family?!?!?

"Temporary Blindness" was another good one. I found McGuirk's laser eye surgery to be the funniest part of the episode. The fortune telling scam was also funny. I liked how he impersonated so many celebrities by showing just a little bit of each impersonation. Brendon's questioning of McGuirk about when he was blind and when he wasn't was good too. Also, McGuirk living with the Smalls. That "Tommy" movie parody was weird. The music and animation was good though. Overall, a great episode and I hope the last one is great too.

I'm betting in the series finaly you find out that Josie has majic powers like baby smurf.

I'm also betting that Paula is malissa's long lost mother and her dad just forgot from amnesia. Errr, or random bout's of blindness.

Oh and someone dies.

Whether I liked it or not, this was the 2nd to last episode of Home Movies, so I will now bring you my review of "Temporary Blindness":

An interesting episode McGuirk goes in for eye laser surgery ("Doc, I smell flesh burning" "I told you not to move" "I smell eye burning" "That's normal") and the kids get assigned a family tree project. McGuirk ends up staying with the Smalls ("He's not ours" "Well don't you have someone who owes you a favor" "C'mon mom lets bring him home") and hijinks ensues as McGuirk eventually removes the bandages to reveal... he's blind! (Funny scene as McGuirk calls his doctor demanding his eyesight, but his doctor is busy at his other work.. as apparently a hot dog vendor!) Anyway McGuirk mentions to Brendon not to drink the chocolate milk because it's bad and at school later that day, it's announced the chocolate milk has gone bad! The kids think McGuirk is a blind prophet. Soon enough Brendon finds out that McGuirk is not blind ("You're reading a magazine" "What? I like magazines") and not a prophet ("The lunch lady told me to put the milk away and I forgot to") but cuts a deal with McGuirk as McGuirk has a huge saence to appear at. After struggling somewhat to find someone in the crowd who has a dead relative ("What? No one? That's statistically impossible.") he wins them over as he calls dead celebrities into his body (Johnny Carson, etc), before blowing his cover. On the family tree, Jason can't do it because his parents are in some foreign city so he does it on his ferret's family tree, Melissa (who was freaking out about the project) ends up doing it interesting, as her mother is Cinderella, her dad is Jesse the Body Ventura and her uncle is Hulk Hogan, and finally Brendon ends up doing his actual family however him and Paula left out many who they felt just weren't good parts to brag about. Can't forget that through the episode bits and pieces of a movie called "timmy" is shown (jason in costume) apparently a parody of the movie "tommy" .Also we find out that Josie Small is adopted... A pretty funny episode, very entertaining. I give it a B+.

I've written like ten letters to them. Anyway, back to the episode. My mom has a copy of "Tommy" and I watched it, I'd say "Timmy" was a good parody. Also, McGuirk's vision at the beginning of the episode is how mine is.

OK, this has been bugging me because I can't remember - have we ever heard Jason's age? I have a feeling he's not the same age as Brendon and Melissa. He's not on the soccer team, doesn't show up in class but he is at the school (sometimes). Does he even go to the school? He showed up in the middle of Brendon's class with Smatchimo the Trumpeteer - implying he came straight from home during the middle of the day.

I'm just curious since Jason is the most enigmatic main character.
