Now, I know that Toonami sampled Evangelion a while back. But nobody's claimed it yet. Correct me if I'm wrong, but WHY HASN'T ANYONE AIRED THE SHOW YET? I'm always hearing about the show, and it seems like everyone on Earth except for me has seen the whole thing. From what I hear, it sounds like the kind of show that should go on Adult Swim.

Well I think the Anime Network has the rights to show NGE, they're showing the director's cut to some episodes right now. I know the AN has limited fanbase so yeah it would be cool to see it on Cartoon Network... let's throw it in with those other AS pipe dreams.

There are only two shows I've heard AS openly say they do not want:
Ranma 1/2
Neon Genesis Evangelion

Unfortunately, Evangelion has a lot of content that would be considered too dicey for Adult Swim. Though Adult Swim Comedy shows have been able to get through intact, some of the anime seems to be editted more, just because it's anime. The S&P for anime is pretty ruthless, and Turner's S&P department tries to make CN enforce it to the limit. Usually though when it's the anime distributor who edits the show, you can expect more content to slip by.
Evangelion however aired 2 episodes as part of Toonami's Giant Robot Week.
The rights to the series are owned by ADV Films, which is using it for its new Anime Network. For more information on The Anime Network, visit http://www.theanimenetwork.com .
I also think Neon Genesis Evangelion wouldn't really work for an adult audience. It's largely a teen show in the sense of all the angst and emotional maturation elements. It's something adults would tend to find tiresome and obnoxious.

Especially once you get to the end.......I almost want to say worse than Big O. (as far as bizzaro goes)
The teen Angst is a problem? Come on, AS already has a show called Aqua TEEN Hunger force....you see, TEENS have already invaded us!

Neon Genesis Evangelion is still airing on The Anime Network Channel... ADV Filmes created The Anime Network Channel and it would make more sense to show case anime they dubbed/worked on their network instead of giving it to their competetors. Here is a link (http://www.theanimenetwork.com/releases/11_6_2002.html) about history of The Anime Network Channel.
Although, it would be nice to have that show air the complete series on Cartoon Network... Oh well.

Now I have known that for a while but I never asked why exactly do they not want to air those two?

Well, I think Ranma has nudity and the whole boy changes to girl thing.
And EVA just has a whole mass of problems going for it, and the ending will probably cause much confusion and upheaval. And I don't think End of Evangelion could be edited and maintain coherency (what little there was in the first place:anime:).

Adding digital bikini's to ranma would take forever. He/she is shown topless a LOT. Secondly, my guess is that the mass of the AS audience would be disturbed by a guy that turns into a girl (and apparently doesn't mind it THAT much). Secondly the series is long. AS has inuyasha and used to have YYH, but I think they want to stick with the basic 26 or less anime formula. More's the pity, it is a hilarious show.
As for NGE...This one is simple: it's dramatic. Let's face it, dramatic cartoons just don't do well. Ranma has a way better shot than NGE because it is comedy. But a show about people living after the apocalypse, with the fanservice, and EXTREMELY bizarre ending is just too much for people.
Vincent, I reccomend you just buy the box set of Eva. As far as box sets go, it's pretty cheap (that's why I got it) and it is a good show.

Yeh, I guess that makes sense. NGE is very dramatic. It made me cry.
WS personally hates Ranma. With a passion. They go panda hunting in the spring and don't allow any redheads on their staff.
Evangelion is simply too controversial. Say what you will, but the anime is a legend in the controversy department. ADV knows this, the CN knows this, and that keeps the status quo of it not airing on the CN.
Besides, they'd cut the openings and endings. They can't even appreciate the origin of "Fly me to the Moon."
