Going by production Seasons, which do you think is the best season of FG and why? Cameos don't count, like Stewie on MTV or Peter Griffin among the Homer clones on the Simpsons.

Didn't feel like putting up a poll since then people don't say why they voted that way, but what the hell do I know. A mod can put up a Season 1/2/3 poll up if they want.

I'll say season 2. Road to Rhode Island and DaBoom just do it for me.

I'm going with season one. You can't beat a season who's first episode starts with a crack about Jemima's Witnesses and:

"OH NO!"
"OH NO!"
"Oh no..."
"OH NO!"
"OH YEAH!" - as the Kool Aid man bursts into the courtroom.

It might just be because I bought the DVD set relatively recently and thus haven't watched the episodes ad nauseam yet, but my money's on Season 3. The two-parter where Brian gets addicted to coke and goes to L.A. to become a screenwriter and "Family Guy Viewer Mail #1" are absolute gems.

I think the third season was the best one. The people who worked on the show really got around to figuring out where they wanted the show to go, and they did a great job with developing the characters - not just the Griffins, but the others!

The best episodes from it are Brian's two-parter, Meg as the TV intern and the family's moving to the South. I think the Weinstein episode was originally going to be a part of the third season; I liked that one too.

My personal favorite: Season 3

Funniest: Season 1

All 3 seasons were great, but I think 2 was the bestest.

I think the Weinstein episode was originally going to be a part of the third season; I liked that one too. Weinstein was a season 2 production code, but got shelved by Fox at the last minute. Speaking of which, Season 2 (production code) is definitely my favorite.

Season 3 was good as far as bringing the show together, the Griffens had become fully developed (especially Stewie), the Town was also becoming similar to The Simpsons where there is a good cast of town folk, and the show just really had gone through it's infancy and puberty and really become one hot well developed funny woman. However I think Season 1 too was the best only because when I first saw it I was laughing through each episode, I honestly think Family Guy had some effect on the comedic aspect of my own writing. Season 1 was just such a shock to the system that I can't help to love it.

I want to change my vote to season 4. No, I haven't seen it. No, I have no idea how good it will be. But I'm more excited for season 4 than I was for any of the other Family Guy, and that makes season 4 the best.

which season was the best? hmmmmmmm... that's a very tough question. I will have to go back and look through my dvd sets in order to make this decision. I'm back. It's very close between 2 and 3... but I'd have to say season 2 and I have no basis to back it up.

sidenote: has anyone else noticed on season 1's disk, the synopsis of "Mind over Murder" has a misprint that says Meg becomes an acclaimed lounge singer when it's really Lois?

Season Three. For the most part I didn't find season one funny and season two was when they were getting their footing. But Season Three was so funny with the one where Stewie teams up with Olivia, Brian's 2-parter, and the fan suggestion episode. Then Fox cancels it when it starts getting really good! I hope Seth Macfarlane can build the momentum from where he left off instead of taking another season to get as funny as year three.

I loved how "Part Two" of that two parter has nothing to do with the first part. Even nothing on the "Previously" happened (even the Griffins reading a letter saying "Brian's moved to LA to find himself" never occured in "part one".) But are you guys sure it wasn't a Season 2 episode?

Season 3, definitely. It has all of my favorites.... Road To Europe, To Live and Die in Dixie, Mr. Griffin Goes To Washington. All great episodes.
