Despite Totally Spies, PPG, and a few others, did you get the feeling the Cartoon Network has became a younger version of Spike TV?

You mean with all the crudity for fat, sexually frustrated 30 somethings? No.

Back in the days of Adult Swim Action, I would have agreed. But with shows like Totally Spies about to become a weekday occurance, I'd have to say that it's more neutral than say, Disney Channel.

Who says Totally Spies is a girl's show? ;)

Miguzi definitely seems to be a more female-oriented chunk of scheduling.

Sure....

Since when are these cartoons "for boys" and "for girls"? Are you living in 1984? Or perhaps you're trying too hard to understand a demographic. The bottom line is that no matter what show is put on, both sexes watch them.

Your premiese seems to be that if there is a majority female cast, it's a girl's show. Never viewed the Powerpuffs as a girl's show. You're also assuming that females don't watch male-oriented action shows. Bad assumption pal.

I think this is part of the reason Toonami weekdays is changing to Miguzi. Toonami often seemed to be a heavily boy-targeted block and the ratings CN promoted usually tended towards that direction also. While Toonami did well, there was still a large unserved area. By moving Toonami to Saturdays and having Miguzi on weekdays, Cartoon Network can expand on their success by targeting boys and girls more equally during the afternoons.

No, "The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy" is like "Gary the Rat"! :p

Toonami had lots of girl viewers when Tenchi, Gundam Wing, Ronin Warriors, and Sailor Moon reigned supreme but once they lost SM especially the demo went all boys the girls only came back for Hamtaro and oddly enough... Justice League. They never found a "replacement" for SM though and that was a big mistake (no TS isn't that, it doesn't have the impact that SM had but it is a decent consolation).

Miguzi doesn't seem much more girl oriented than Toonami though. It's more uni-sex I suppose since it covers the girls with TS, the boys with TMNT, and both with Code LYOKO and Teen Titans but I suppose girls could like TMNT as well. Infact I know several who like the franchise... and yes boys can enjoy Totally Spies. Yeah it's uni-sex that's for sure and that's a good thing because Disney doesn't deserve all the female ratings...

I think you may have hit it right on Hyper Luigi. It will be more unisex than Toonami, but more action-oriented than Disney or Nick. Thus, they can expand their targetable audience and offer that audience a clear alternative in their programming choices (except for the fact that Totally Spies will be up against Kim Possible, but the rest of the theory works).

It'd be an odd contrast to have TMNT and TS back to back...a helping of mall jokes after my daily dose of decapitation?

Yes that would be good wouldn't it... but I think 6pm is fabulous time for TMNT to be on and I think the point was to pit TS against KP.

This block can also do more than Toonami... it can air more comedy oriented action programing and non-exclusives. Two thing Toonami often refused to do.

Another uni-sex option I see for the future is without a doubt X-Men: Evolution. It'd be perfect! I say it should replace Teen Titans after a month or so. Also unless it takes off... SD Gundam will probably take Code LYOKO's spot when it's rerun a few times.
