Don't have chance to read it all, but they did mention how it is at 12:30 A.M. AND is #1 "for its timeslot", which isn't too much since there's not much else on at 12:30 A.M.

I'm sure that it did debut to good ratings but didn't get anything the next few weeks. It's not hard to get a good rating at 12:30 ON A SATURDAY NIGHT because if ANYONE watches then they'd get a good rating.
Bandai just can't seem to realize that KotZ blew up in the US. The toys are pretty cool looking though. I'll give 'em that.

It's sad Dic's ruination of this show grew so purvasive that their version got all the media push. Even Viz whored out to them by re-naming the manga. All for a bomb.

...the Knights of the Zodiac television show has already debuted to spectacular ratings on Cartoon Network and continues to gain momentum among key demographic of boys 2-11.

HUH??? Are they nutts or something. I am kinda amazed that it is gaining momentum from 2-11 year olds at a 12:30 AM block....
Oh well.

It's marketing, with a whole lot of BS. It's sad that Viz whored out and mangled the manga. For the Bandai figures, I'll get them, since they don't talk :D. I just toss that ugly KotZ packaging and keep the figures, since I know they are StS figures after all.

now it's time for "How to Read a News Story."
it debuted with spectacular ratings. so its premiere got good ratings. it's also currently #1 in its timeslot with kids 2-11. keep in mind that there aren't exactly many other kids shows on at 12:30 AM. so attaining that is a sinch.

To be honest, I don't think Knights of the Zodiac is a totall loss just yet. There is always the possibility that Cartoon Network would give it a daily run either before or after Miguzi (kind of nicely out of the way) that would really hit the mark. I'm not entirely convinced that it failed because of more than poor timeslots for it's target audience.

Original Quote with the stuff I snipped out...
Launched in partnership with children's entertainment provider, DIC Entertainment, the Knights of the Zodiac television show has already debuted to spectacular ratings on Cartoon Network and continues to gain momentum among key demographic of boys 2-11.
Sorry about my post maybe I should have made it more clear. I was responding to the "continues to gain momentum among key demographic of boys 2-11." part. Uh yeah, it did debute with "spectacular ratings" when it first aired. When I had posted I was amazed that the article used that statement "continues to gain momentum" when the block is now at 12:30 AM, "12:30 AM" statement which they mention in another paragraph.
If they had stated "show has already debuted to spectacular ratings on Cartoon Network and HAD gained momentum among key demographic of boys 2-11." or... "and was a hit/success with the targeted demographic of boys 2-11", then I would have no grips about that part of the article.
:) The toys look nice though.

KotZ will only air in obscurity... I assume it's only a matter of time before Duel Masters does the same (but maybe the kids will dig the cheese like we digged Samurai Pizza Cats)
Viz didn't whore out per say. They only renamed the manga they didn't edit it or anything. It's actually got both names... Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac. It's for brand recognition. I guess they figured that kids would be weirded out if they saw the manga preview in Shonen Jump and it had a different name.
KotZ got a crappy treatment all around... even ADV's dub isn't great. If only it had come about 5 - 10 years earlier. Then it could have been a phenominon like Dragonball Z.

That doesn't make for enthusiastic statements when trying to push toys though.
(The ratings info was probably taken from DiC or Bandai's media guide.)

YEP.. they didn't edited nor changed anything, well just the title and they also used the name changes that DIC made, like Jab instead of Jabu or Sienna instead of Saori, but aside from that it's pretty much intact.

Hmmm, this must be why it'll possibly still be on when Toonami starts on Saturday.

For the manga, it's more that I'm irked that they're using the butcher names (I just think that "Lord Nobu" sounds extremely lame).
But ADV's dub is great, and has been very well received.

I happen to like ADV's Saint Seiya moreso then KotZ. Hey, if it does get good ratings, maybe someone will want ADV's dub on air.

My guess is that, since they have a late slot they can use for it, they will continue to air it until Knights of the Zodiac at least airs all of the 40 episodes CN purchased.

Then it could have been a phenominon like Dragonball Z.Name changes = Whoring out. The dual title wouldn't matter much (they call the part of the Dragonball manga animated as "Dragonball Z" by that name,) but when they decide to change the names to DiC's (continuity ruining) versions, that's whoring out. I wonder how they're going to wiggle out of the errors later in they storyline. It was stupid of them to give in to DiC, especially since it's a flop.
That strong premire stuff is b.s. Why would CN move it away almost immeadiatley from the prime slot so fast if it did well?
