When the series first started on TBS........Dee Dee was a lot more antagonistic towards Dexter. Her destruction of Dexter's inventions seemed more like malice instead of curiousity.

Now days, Dexter seems to be the 'bad guy' in the relationship. As illustrated in many episodes Dee Dee loves to be around Dexter and her curiousity about her brother's inventions lead to the natural destruction of said invention.

So the character has kind of done a 180....

I've noticed that.

Something else I've noticed is the wild inconsisities in Dexter's strength. In one episode, he's too weak to lift the paper, in another, he kicks the crap out of the school janitor with his bare hands.

Is DeeDee mean-spirited? She could be the way she is towards Dexter at times!

I think they've had to change the series a little bit to keep it fresh. Dee Dee has mostly destroyed the lab because she is courious and basically wants to be in the same room as Dexter. She's interested because her brother is there. Also note that she easily gets bored with it all. She's in the lab because of Dexter, not for the shiney buttons.

Dexter has always been the disgruntled scientist. He's trying to get work done and Dee Dee wrecks it. If anything, I think the later episodes have taken strides to make Dexter and Dee Dee better friends. There has been lots of touching moments, and even Dexter has lightened his distaste for Dee Dee's behavior. They've become closer and realized they need each other.

Hmm...I'm trying to think back to the 1st eps of Dexter's Lab to recall how Dee-Dee was back then. But what I've always thought, is that she is in the lab because Dexter's always in there. I definitely wouldn't say Dee-Dee is mean or malicious. She's just the usual curious mid-grade schooler. I used to think she was somewhat the bad guy, too, but she really loves Dexter - he's her younger brother. :p She's just the typical sibling if you think about it...always pestering, making fun of, and getting on her sibling's nerves.

Also....I've come to realize that Dee-Dee really isn't that "dumb." They always brag that Dee-Dee is free-spirited, and she lets that come out all the time which makes her appear dumb. But, by Dexter's intelligence, he calls her "stoooopid." Aside from his "Star Trek" buddies, or Mordechai (or Douglas), he thinks everyone is not as smart as he.

Dee Dee's certainly had her share of nasty moments. The worst one that comes to mind is in "The Big Cheese", where she chants "That's all you can say!" as the lab blows up. I think she was at her best in season 2 where she really evolved into a character who though sometimes dumb, wasn't the complete airhead Dexter made her out to be. The episode where she tries to teach Dexter to be more open is the best example of this.
