In school we all have subjects/classes that were easier than others and ones that were harder than others. What was easy/hard for you?

Mine:

Easy (no/hardly any problem)- Basic math to Algebra, computer typing/graphics, social skills.

Hard (Headache inducing)- Science, Social Studies to Geography, Consumer Economics (Still passed).

Look for my new custom title.

Hardest=Grammar (Espanol) Math (Matematicas) Geography (Geografia)
Easier:History (Historia) Science (Ciencias Naturales)
History because well iif im not watching cartoon network or the simpsons im watching the history channel =) i like that Stanlin documentry

Well, in High School Physics was the only subject I had issues with, and that was because of the teacher. (I got mostly Bs and Cs, but that was just lack of effort)

In college (where I am now) Calculus is killing me. Biology was pretty hard seeing as how I didn't feel like memorizing 50 types of Bacteria and all that.

I always had a terrible time with Math (except Geometry) and Chemistry.

Although I'm a terrible slacker, I have an aptitude for History and English, I always got at least B's in those classes whilst barely putting in the effort. I also usually did well in Language courses, except for every first semester, that always went badly for some reason.

And though it's probably inapplicable to most people here, I'm seemingly a natural at linguistics (only two steps away from being as useless as philosophy!). But I had a bad time in philosophy, a combination of a bad professor and arrogantly self-righteous bunch of students made my first and fate willing only philosophy course a disaster, and the first class I ever fell asleep in on a regular basis!

History because well iif im not watching cartoon network or the simpsons im watching the history channel =) i like that Stanlin documentry
Exactly, they should have a Math Channel that explains the Algebra behind Hitler's enchanted mustache. Or statistical overviews of the holocaust.

In Highschool my hardest class was definitely Chemistry where I got a B and worked my fingers to the bone studyin'

Everything else was super easy.

In college, the easiest class I think was English 101 semester 1
Hardest? Japanese without a doubt.

So far into my High School career:p:

Hardest: AP Biology (though I have been improving since we studied evolution) and AP European History (we have a student teacher who isn't very good).
Easiest: German (it just seems to come naturally to me) and computer classes (I had keyboarding, but I type different than my teacher wanted, but I still got an A and Computer Apps was just different programs... really easy)

All my other classes are just different. We don't have a lot of points in English, so it's hard to keep a good grade, I usually do pretty well in math (Algebra 2 this year) but sometimes I just don't get it, and gym is graded on ability more this year, so it's harder.

Hardest: Geometry, Algebra, Chemistry

Easiest: Spanish, Art (these first two subjects are my majors in college), English, History

I'm not very good at science, although the lowest science grade I got in high school was a C in Physics. Geometry wasn't too easy for me, either. But I always got a B or above.

Easiest for me is history and English/writing. Oh, and Phy Ed. (does that count as a class? :p )

It's hard to say what's the easiest class I've ever had, probably freshman orientation or something stupid like that, but the class I most enjoyed would probably be either Film Study, Modern Philosophy or Operating Systems. Classes that I'm axious to go to are always easy.

Hardest? Probably COBOL I. Not really anything hard about the assignments, just incompatibility with the teacher, and I hated programming on the mainframe, so that always makes it harder. Either that or microcomputer apps I. This class is supposed to be how to use Word and PowerPoint and stuff, easy right? Well my teacher felt like teaching the class like a programming class, so we had multiple choice tests where we had to remember which menus you clicked on to do stuff like add a bulleted list to a Word Document or how to change your text to italicized... is it Tools -> Paragraph -> Bullets and Numbering or is it Insert -> Format -> Bullets and Numbering or is it Font -> Tools -> Paragraph -> Bullets and Numbering... you get the idea...

As I said, I didn't do well in Geometry. I didn't have to do finish that class after all, because according to the office I had enough math credits.

Hardest- I would have to go with English, and Algebra II(But only last semester)

Easiest-Definitely AP French, along with AP World History(I'm just good with things like that) also Biology would go somewhere in here, though last semesters focus more on the chemistry aspects was easier than this semester which focuses on organisms as a whole, so it might change groups.)

In my case...

Easy: C++, History, Civics.

Hard: Math, English, Physics.

More or less I derive that from motivation to do the homework more than how intrinsically "difficult" the subject matter is.

In high school, everything was easy for me except Literature. It just seemed like the teachers and authors of the textbooks were making stuff up when they were analyzing short stories and poems (especially poems). There was no pattern, no logic to it... well, to me, anyway. It just seemed like random thoughts were passed off as coherent leaps of logic. Besides, I could never understand the point of such analyzations... sure, analysis is necessary and beneficial in math, science, and social studies, but in the arts? Can't we just say, "I like this poem, and you don't" and leave it at that?

Eh, I don't find any subject hard at all. I got a C in history cause I refuse to read the book cause I'm lazy. Like 70% of every test in that class comes from the book so of course I won't do very well.

I'd get straight A's actually if I weren't so freaking lazy. See I have this philosophy that I'll do it when I feel like it. If it doesn't get done, oh well.

FredNash
02-26-2004, 10:23 AM
I hear alot of people say stuff like "I never study, so that's whay I don't make A's, but even if I studied alittle, I'd make straight A's no problem, dewd."

I'm not calling you a liar CryptiniteDemon, I'm just saying that getting straight A's and saying you can get them is not the same thing. The only way someone will really know if they can is to do it. I never got straight A's, and I never tried, and now that I'm out of school, I probably never will. I think I could have, but I never did, so I'll never know.

My point is that that argument (which alot of people use, again, this is not directed at CryptiniteDemon) is only remotely valid while you are in school, when you have the chance to prove it. Once you quit school, the assertion that you "could have made all A's, like no sweat, if I'd wanted to" stops being anything related to fact and becomes a self delusional fiction maintained to support an inflated ego...

anyone disagree?

Nope. If I went back to school more than likely I still wouldn't have done the homework.

Hardest: Math. And I know this is going to sound stupid to many people but I think it's also the most useless subject, but thats probably just because it's my least favorite.

Easiest: History.

From easiest to hardest....

Gym
Psych
American History
News Paper
Spanish
Physics
Math

Math is not useless really, when I took physics I realized this. Math is very needed for the world, if we didn't teach math he wouldn't have important scientists, doctors, and so on. However math at one point is no longer a way for common people to get by and not be ignorant morons but a skill. And it is a skill that is not needed by a good portion of jobs while more needed basics skills are ignored. I have a friend who gets 99's on math exams but could not name the vice president and was unaware of the recent Mars rover. I think at one point kids should be able to say math is hard I don't want to take it anymore, most of these aren't things aren't things I need to know for my life. Just like kids have the choice (at least where I am) to opt for science, english, and SS classes that don't give anything more but basic knowledge and teach basic skills.

In high school, my hardest were Spanish 2 and all my science classes (except Earth Science in 9th grade).
Math has always been my worst enemy. All kinds of math. I hate math. Which, if you accept the left brain/right brain thing, is why I'm so good at English.
I've always liked English and History classes, esp. English (except my Comp. Lit. class I'm taking now). I find it so easy that I'd probably cry if I found out I got less than an A on a paper. I'd also cry if I got an A on math test, something I haven't done in a very long time.

When I was in elementary/middle school, I hated PE because we always played competitive sports and I was not at all good at them. I think schools should focus more on getting the kids physically fit rather than encouraging them to be so competitive. This can include working out on exercise equipment like treadmills.

I'm going to use my high school subjects since I haven't gone through my first year of college yet (I finished the first half).

Easiest:

-French un, deux, trois, et quatre:anime:
-Creative Writing
-College Prep English II
-American Literature (aka English III)
-Writing About Film
-Applied Physical Science (I got this when I flunked College Prep Physical Science)
-Keyboarding
-World History I and II
-School to Career (in middle school, this was called "Business Class")

Medium:

-Senior Project (this is an independent study course that all seniors have to take. Whether it's easy or hard depends on what you do)
-Biology
-American History
-Applied Math (aka Business and Consumer Math. I took this my last year of school when my algebra teacher realized that I sucked at algebra)
-Chemistry
-British Literature (my teacher was a bit of a pill, so I didn't do as well in this class as I had hoped)

Hardest:

-Algebra I, II, and III (although Algebra I wasn't that hard. It was just a review of middle school stuff)
-Problems of Democracy (if I can turn back the hands of time, I'd make it so I'd never had to take this class again. Politics, current events, and me mix like oil and water, God and Satan, and fat women and spandex suits)

There's more, but I can't remember

Hardest:
GEOMETRY!!!! (And pretty much all other mathematics)

So you thought Calc III was easier than Calc II?yep. sure did. let's put it this way. in calc I you learn the basics of calculus. in calc II you learn all the really hard stuff. in calc III you learn easier methods to completing the hard stuff. i hate it when professors think we need to understand the theory of why something works

lol! I know, I hate proofs too, but don't you think it's a good idea to understand why the methods you're using work?

anyway, I hated Calc II, I thought it was alot harder than Calc III also, but I just thought it was because I had a total bastard for a teacher... I guess it was more the class than I thought. Regardless, the teacher was still an a-hole.

Hmmm.....let's see....

Hard: Math, Algebra, Geometry, Stats, Trig, anything that deals with math, chemistry

Easy/Enjoy: Reading, Grammar, Spelling, Literature, History, Social Studies, World Geography, Biology, Astronomy, Home Ec., Psychology, Spanish, Health

Hardest: Discrete Math and Geometry, AP Calculus (BC), AP Physics. You're well into the abstract here. Especially Discrete, your formulas won't save you now! =)

Easiest: Music Repertoire and plain 'ol Music class- it's much easier to keep up, Just show up and do all your performance tests. And Data Management- know the concepts, and you're fine.

I think it's very important to understand theory. It aids your understanding- not of only how, but why (oh jeez, 1984). Especially when there is -only- theory. =)

Hmm, interesting question.

Well in High School my easiest classes tended to be English, except for 9th grade, and Band. Physics and Math were hard, but thanks to extra credit and being a mega teacher's pet, I got A's or B's in both.

Now that I'm in college, my English related classes are still the easiest for me. Math is hard because I still really stink at it. But I backed way up to the beginning math courses to relearn everything since high school math was a joke, and now math is much more enjoyable. Biology was a disaster, and now I'm taking Musical Acoustics for Physics....that class is actually going suprisingly well!

Easy: English grammar (not English lit because I had a hard time remembering every single detail in the novels I had to read and get quizzed on)

Hard: Social science (history, etc.), science

Math depended on what kind of math. I did great in Algebra and Geometry but badly in Trig and Calc.

I'm a senior in HS this year so my schedule is pretty easy.

Easy:
Foods
Webpage design
Art II
Humor
Government

Mildly difficult:
Spanish
College Algebra

Academics is pretty much simple in my school, but I learn a lot of things by myself. Out of all subjects, math is my biggest weakness. That and my science. But my science is decent. If it wasn't for math I would have gotten higher than 23 on my ACT. It still pisses me off because I had high 20's on English and Science Reasoning and even a 30 on reading, yet an 18 in Math killed me  Oh well, I'll do better next time now that I'm taking algebra that's being ITV'ed through a local college. It's even college credit at 1/5 of the cost.

Is this a good place to begin my messaging? OK.

I'm in like an "ADVANCED" class so everything's more challenging but not really. I seem to be good at: Writing, spelling, art, P.E. , sorta science and lunch (but I'm not a dude who eats really fast, bad manners or too much). I don't have time for breakfast

I suck at: Math (but I'm getting better) and...uh...math.

Even sader the interface you used probably changed by now so remebering such things was completly useless.

My problem was beening Unix geek (I ran it as a second OS on my Amiga) from way back and when I took computer classes in Highschool, I was far more experinced then my teacher which didn't do me that good becouse Dos and Windows was completly foreign to me.

I kept crashing the schools systems thinking you could actully multi-task in Win95 like you can in Amiga OS and *nix.

I would say computer classes was both the best and worse for me. Most of the times I could be teaching the teachers. In programing it got to the point I got automatic 100% in advance since the teachers couldn't even follow the source code and gave up tring to. Yet I had to learn Dos and Windows which I still have no use for.

My highschool didn't class programable calculators as cheating at the time (even during exams) so math was not too hard:cool:

I would say english was always the hardest as homework from english always took the most time.
