I'm white. :) I'm not sure of my entire ethnic history, but I do know that my maternal grandmother is from Ireland and my maternal grandfather is from Scotland (they both immigrated to Canada). I believe that part of my dad's family is from either Ireland or England (not sure).

Just wanted to point out that the poll actually says "Nationality" rather than "ethnicity."

Just wanted to point out that the poll actually says "Nationality" rather than "ethnicity."Given the poll options...I'd say "ethnicity" was the operative word that was intended.

As for me, I am a black dude.

if that's so then please take it elsewhere since you're taking one. and take two while you're at it , the census in america isn't really accurate.. and reveals too much about people. really, all it should be is a card with a box on it saying 'i exist' you can check and send back. and then people would know.

because i don't like to see temptations for people to reveal private identities about their real lives like that. could border on racism.

really. let's just say we're who we are in our avatars and leave it at that.

and if we don't have an avatar or a picture up we put up on here.. well, it's best you don't know.

perhaps you should consider asking about coffee or tea? that's less relevant and maybe even prone to spontaneous bursts of fun. you know, fun?

Caucasian right here, dude.

Got a question, though - why are Hispanic/Latin American and Aboriginal lumped in together as one?

Just a minor note, shouldn't this poll be one where you can make more than one choice? I have a little Native American in me, too...

Human... I don't belive in seperation of skin color....

Do you also not believe grass is green or that the sky is blue? Sorry, but until we all really do become one race "seperation of skin color" and all the other differences that go with that are just going to be reality. Whether we acknowledge those differences and try to overcome them or choose to feed our fears of them will determine where society goes. Of course, denial is also an option, but if you do that you're just letting other people decide for you.

Actually I'm a bit of everything :P. Born and raised as a Mexican but also partly Costa Rican (sp?), Libanese, Italian and Spanish.

Delthayre
02-16-2004, 05:24 PM
I'm caucasian, principally Scottish (1/4 MacLean), Irish (1/4 O'Flanagan), and German (1/2 Brömmer). There are trace elements of Welsh, French, Dutch, and English, but Scotch/Irish/German are the really identifiable ones, the rest are ancialliary.

I was going to say something along the lines of, "I'm surprised by the number of Georgians, Armenians, and Azerbaijanis on this board," but Twage took the, "caucuses mountains," lines already.

Born and raised in Chile but my roots can go back all the way to Spain, Croatia and Scotland.

Therefore, I'm about 50% Chilean and 50% all the other mentioned countries.

King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French! Why do think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king!?
Sir Galahad: What are you doing in England?
French Soldier: Mind your own business!
-Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Is Acadian an ethnicity? :p Actually, I'm considered a tête-carée (square-head - as the French call the English), if anything. The only reason I said anything at all about it is so that I could use that quote. And the expression "tête-carée" :D

In terms of pallor, I'm a dead ringer for Wednesday Addams. In terms of culture, I'm Ukrainian, Irish, Alsatian, Dutch, English, and Spanish. Alsatians are people from Alsace-Lorraine, which is currently in France, though at the time my ancestors were there, it was in Germany and everybody spoke German.

02-17-2004, 09:27 PM
I'm white as white can be be....PALE. With dark hair and blue eyes I'm very fair skinned. As far my heritage goes though...I'm German, French, and SUPPOSEDLY(according to my well meaning grandmother on my mom's side(which isn't traceable)) there's like one Native American in my blood....*shrugs* Who knows....but definitely German....My last name Lang...which when my grandfather was born they left an extra letter off the birth certificate...so the rest of my family on my fathers side is Lange. <Which is German. My grandmothers last name was DeBaun on my fathers side. Which is french. Our line came over in like the 1890's. I learned all this when I went to a family reunion on that side like 4 years ago. Someday I'm gonna change my name back from Lang to Lange...my grandpa never got around to it.

I'm black, but it turns out I'm also Native American (I'm Cherokee for the most part), West Indian (I'm from the Caribbean), Caucasian, and Italian. I also speak French, but that's because I taught myself and took classes, but who knows? I could have had some French family members and not know about it.

But for now, I'm black, Caucasian, Cherokee, West Indian, and Italian.

I'm a true American; I have at least 4 different ethnicities if you go back to my grandparents. And like most of my kind, I consider myself 'caucasion' because of my skincolor.

On my moms side we came over on the boat waay before the revolution (although i'm like 1/24th Native American or some strange fraction like that), and on my dads side we go back about 90 or so years till you get to the boat.

But the way I see it, 200 years or 200 minutes, we're all Americans! (except for those of you that arent, in which case, just sit tight, your country will be colonized soon enough, bwa-hahaha!)

Bubblegum Girl
02-18-2004, 01:46 PM
I'm black(But it's kinda hard to tell cause my skin is a very light brown) but I never knew that there would be so many Caucasians here(But I'm not saying it in a bad way though! ).
