In the now closed movie thread Arxane brought THIS up...
http://web.utk.edu/%7Ebborchar/splash/iyplay.jpg In retrospect, would you go see this?

This topic was already done in a thread several months ago, but since there are a few new people around here who didn't see it, I might as well post the link to some pictures of the play.

I'm sorry but I just love the title of this thread.
But no, I would not see that.
Depends. Is a gun to my head?:p
Well I hear the Lion King on stage is rather good. ;)

Thanks! The title was the first thing running through my mind when I saw that poster (it looks sinisterly similar to the poster for vol.2).

I'd see the Inuyasha musical. Maybe it gained something in transferring to a different medium.
That's ugly. XP
Poor Shippo...

To satify the morbid curiosity that will also be taking me to see the Vampire Chronicles musical that Elton John is making...
Yes, I'd see it. Just for the heck of it.

What's that crazy underground movie they're trying to sell on TV? I'd buy that first before I go see a live action Inuyasha movie.

01-22-2004, 01:04 AM
yes, i'll probably see this when I get the chance purely for amusement...like watching the live action sailor moon.
The difference being that it won't make me hurl over my monitor, since it isn't sailor moon.

Well I just have a bad feeling that in no time flat, this topic maybe locked regarding that not many people find this Inu Yasha movie in Live Action to be a good thing, plus it already reminds me of DBZ and Sailor Moon being Live action, and that may result flames on this topic so I'll back out of it, just giving a fair warning.

that is a pretty bleh movie poster, but at least the makeup and cast costumes depicted within seem to bring some light to that production.
at least that dude who plays inu yasha looks a lot better than the dude who played lupin in his live action movie.

Why did the stage version omit Sango? Myogga got in, but she didn't? Oh, and Naraku as a girl has some interesting implications, but wouldn't it have been easier to just use the Baboon Suit version? That way you wouldn't have to worry about looking like "Prince" Naraku.

No. Under no circumstances ever would I ever see that.Agreed. Inuyasha is best as anime because the characters look awesome.

Actually, it wouldn't be that hard to omit sango. She doesn't appear til almost 25 episodes in. Granted, I guess that's not a lot considering how many episodes there are, but that's still kinda late. Myoga is in way earlier than that.
And no, I would not watch this.

I thought this was just photoshopped until Arxane posted that link. Some of the costume choices are just awful.
http://www.silabub.com/iy/stage/threat.jpg
(That's Yura strangling Naraku)
Though I must commend them for managing to tell the story of a multiple hundred-episode show in a few hours. The TV show could learn a thing from them.
(BTW, what's the deal with the Japanese casting women to play adult male characters? They do it in anime and apparently on the stage. I could see them playing young boy parts, but it's just kind of freaky the other way)

Hey, they've casted girls for stage productions of Peter Pan here in America... *looks around*

I'd rather stick with the various Inu-Yasha cosplay skits that people perform (some silly stuff in them (i.e. Inu-Yasha taking PMS medicine to control his black-haired transformation), but the costumes stay true to the anime) than watch the musical (WTF did they do to Shippo-chan?).

I'd have to disagree. Some of the real fanservicey animes make Inuyasha look like a langerie catalog.

And if you laughed at it, doubly so.

That actually looks... okay. Some of those pics look interesting, and kind of funny. I would see it to form my opinion on it, it does not look bad enough for me not to want to see it coughcoughcoughliketaboocoughcough
Atleast they seemed to get one of the funniest aspects of a certain character, even though the actor seems a little older and not as good looking as his animated counterpart

To satify the morbid curiosity that will also be taking me to see the Vampire Chronicles musical that Elton John is making...Elton John gains points, though, for not writing his own lyrics. If he wrote his own lyrics, any musical, the Lion King included, would be doomed to be shown only in the 11th circle of hell where celebrities burn while their cartoon counterparts watch, laugh, and use crappy animation to loop their laughter into a painful neverending laugh-a-thon.
Slightly off-topic: What's with the sudden rush to have musicals designed around pop-stars' repetoires? There' that Billy Joel show going around now, and people can't seem to find a cure for it.

...the Inuyasha commercial where it sounds like he says "Miroku's horde of demons"?You noticed that too? Heh.. Poor Naruku, he's the main villain and the narrator makes his name sound like Miroku. Although if it was Miroku everyone knows it would be a horde of perv demons that seem to only go after the women of villages... :anime:

Mwah. This conversation is giving me some seriously amusing flashbacks to the little quips Scott McNeil and Richard Cox were shooting at each other today during they panel at Ohayocon...
Rich: "And Inu Yasha runs around kicking much ass all the time, so..."
Scott: "Yeah, with that big over-conpensating sword of his."
Rich: "At least he's got a weapon."
Scott: "Hey, Koga doesn't need weapons. Except for that little one. I'm under-compensating."
