Andrew Sullivan, national columnist and commentator (and proprietor of andrewsullivan.com (http://www.andrewsullivan.com) ) writes today about finding relief from Sept 11:

During all this horror, I've found it a great relief to laugh. It took a while, since I spent most of the first week bawling. But my first smile came on September 12, when some friends and I rented a video of twelve Bugs Bunny classics because we just couldn't bear reality for much longer. Cartoons transport you to another world - and Bugs' is about as calming and uplifting as one could find. Can you imagine Bugs versus the Taliban? No contest.

Well, we've always known this is true. Nice to hear one member of the chattering classes saying so too. :)

That reminds me of the Wake Up the Gypsy in Me cartoon Cartoon Network aired Sunday night on Late Night Black and White, a cartoon about a ruler of a foriegn country who gets outed by his people and bombed in the end. It was very cool.

Reminds me of an old Sam&Max comic. Where hijackers hijack a plane with Sam & Max on it. Max fires towards the hijackers. One of the hijackers laughes that Max's missed him. The bullet makes a small hole in the window the terrorists are sucked through the hole and streatch into a thin strip (in a toon type way) becouse of it. I can't remeber the rest of the comic was a long time since I read it.

Bugs never beat up hitler. The only classic toons were Daffy Duck and Popeye. Bugs only scared Hitler in the cartoon Herr Meets Hare . I have it on tape. Along with Russian Rhapsody in which Gremlins (From the Kremlin) beat up Hitler in a plane. Good stuff.

Anybody see that Internet cartoon on Fox News? Brit Hume showed it at the end of his show yesterday. I forget at what dot com it can be found, but it's this lovey touchy feely cartoon with Americans singing a patriotic song side by side with Afghanastans and it's all this peace and love stuff. Then Bin Laden appears, tears well up in his eyes, and his heart begins to beat and they show his heart beating with the colors of the American flag. That's when the Americans all say, "OK NOW!" and rip off their street clothes to reveal army fatigues and they pull out automatic guns and mow down Bin Laden and the rest of the Arab crowd. Then a bomb comes and blows away the Arabs and leaves a big hole and heavy metal rock starts to play. GREAT FUN! I was glad Fox News aired it!

--of the Animaniacs short, "Baghdad Cafe", where Slappy Squirrel shoves a load of explosives into Saddam Hussein's pants. Just picture Bin Laden in his place, getting TNT shoved up where the sun doesn't shine. :D It's gotten me through the month....

I'm sure we'll be seeing that kind of humor soon. SNL and Daily Show are already at this, so I wouldn't be suprised.

Can I post this? If not, I will do a spoiler thingy....This reminds me of a t shirt I remember seeing when I was a kid...I think my sister had one. It simply said...(maybe too colorful for some, be warned!)

The Aiahtolah Is An Assahola

I don't know if I spelled that right, but you get the idea. It was sure funny!

We'll be seeing tonnes of this soon. There's already "Win Bin Laden's Money" spoofs popping up on shows like Jay Leno.

Homer had a T-shirt like that in an episode of The Simpsons. Marge demanded he get rid of it because the guy was dead...but Homer insisted the beauty of the shirt was that it'd work for any Ayotollah.

I actually toyed with the idea of posting a Khameni avatar, calling it Bin Laden, and doing something similar to the "Casto" avatar I had a couple months back....
