If you tuned in on Sunday night, a lot of this is old news to you. But for those who did not, here's a rundown of the biggest news items that were announced that night.
ACTION
Action Saturday begins Saturday, April 17, kicking off with the television premiere of Animatrix.
InuYasha will begin a double strip of premieres on Saturday, April 24, at 11:30 p.m. (e/p)
Wolf's Rain will premiere on Adult Swim beginning Saturday, April 24, at 11 p.m. (e/p)
Adult Swim has acquired 50 episodes of Detective Conan, and the first 26 will begin premiering in a weeknight strip at 12:30 a.m. (e/p) on Monday, April 5.Also some comedy news:
COMEDY
On Sunday, Feb. 15, Adult Swim will present a marathon of the Space Ghost Coast to Coast episodes that couldn't appear on the season one DVD set.
Adult Swim will double strip Aqua Teen beginning Monday, April 19, at midnight (e/p).
Two premieres of Aqua Teen will lead into the strip, on Sunday, April 25, and Thursday, May 6, at 11:45 p.m. (e/p)
EDIT: Does this mean only one episode of (NEW) Inuyasha and Wolf's Rain per week?

90 minutes of anime on weeknights? Looks like AS.com posters get their wish.
Why 90 minutes though? Seems strange. Why not just run ATHF at 11 PM instead of midnight? Or 11:30. Because if an episode of ATHF is premiering at 11:45 on a weekday, I assume that means 11:30 is also W St. Let's see how long that lasts before they go back to Futurama/FG from the inevitable ratings bomb.

Unless they are finally going to have the overnight hours do something other than repeat the first three hours. Not that action getting pushed back father into the night would be all that great either.

Oh, they're actually going through with the banned Space Ghost marathon? Awesome, I was worried they forgot about that.
Cool.
Also cool to see some originals on weeknights. Maybe they'll stick to it for THREE weeks this time.

They also said on the cards that all the execs met in Miami and said that show launches were necessary. Are they talking about acquisitions or original pilots?

12:00 - Sealab 2021

1:00 - Mission Hill
1:30 - Baby Blues
MONDAY-THURSDAY
11:00 - Family Guy
11:30 - Sealab 2021
11:45 - The Brak Show (or ATHF premiere)

Where does it say that? Conan is probably starting at 12:30 because Witch Hunter Robin will still be going on its initial run at midnight on April 5th.

Considering my birthday is April 22, I shall egotisticly consider that AS agnoliges me and all i stand for by allowing this to happen....besides I wanted to check out Wolf's Rain anyways....

Last time I checked, double Aqua Teens at midnight on weeknights = 30 less minutes for anime.

Damnit. I need to learn to pay attention when I read.
So by the end of April the schedule will be balanced with 3 hours of Action on Saturday, 3 hours of comedy on Sunday, and an hour and half of each on weeknights?
Animatrix kicks off Saturdays. The next week will be Wolf's Rain followed by 2 new Inuyashas. Right?
Killtacular
01-20-2004, 03:48 PM
Yes.
Animatrix would be a three-half-hour broadcast, I believe. AKA ~72 minutes.
Wow. As news keeps coming in about AS in April, I keep liking what i hear.
Everything so far sounds good, even liked Matt's interpretation of the schedule. The only thing missing is Lupin. Could ASA mean the end of Lupin? :(
There's always the 1:30 spot untill something more concrete appears.

Taken out of context, that sounds so wrong in so many ways.
Anyways, about these announcements, I have a couple questions.
Are they really going to take off one of their biggest ratings getters(Futurama/Family Guy) or will the one that gets removed from weekdays end up on Sunday?
Why 50 episodes of Conan? I mean, if they went that far, why not make it an even 52? Seems kind of strange.

 Is Detective Conan supposed to be a family show? Like it was in Japan. I don't think it's Adult Swim-ish enough.
Killtacular
01-20-2004, 04:05 PM
It wouldn't be considered a family show over here. 14+ at the least. Until shows like CSI drop their disclaimers, which doesn't seem likely, the subject of murder investigation will remain closed off, pun not intended, to kids.

It's possible that Family Guy and Futurama would run from 1-2 on Sundays.

Conan at 12:30!?!?! I dunno what they're thinking... Conan isn't going to get as good of ratings at 12:30 as it would if it aired at 12:00am. I see the whole Aqua Teen and Brak Show stuff lasting about a week before they realize their big mistake. They must not have that many Inuyasha episodes i assume thats why theirs only 2 a week. Only smart idea on this whole schedule that i'd agree with would be the Wolf's Rain once a week eps. The rest just confuses me.

They have 52 new episodes of Inuyasha, but we don't know if they'll all premier at once. Besides, with 2 new episodes a week, it would only take 26 weeks, the same amount of time it will take to run Wolf Rain.

Well Family Guy will come back with new episodes most likely in the beginning of next year.
They are going to have to slowly wane Futurama off. It cant last forever. But Dectective Conan belongs on weekdays.
Hopefully by the end of the year the schedule will look like this
Weekdays:
11:00 EST Family Guy
11:30 Home Movies
12:00 ATHF
12:15 Space Ghost
12:30 Dectective Conan
1:00 Wolf's Rain
1:30 InuYashu
Saturday
11:00 New Magical Series
11:30 InuYashu
12:00 GITS
12:30 Big O
1:00 Lupin
1:30 Witch Hunter Robin
Sunday
11:00 Venture Brothers
11:30 Sealab
11:45 ATHF
12:00 Home Movies
12:30 Mission Hill/Futurama/Oblongs
1:00 Mission Hill/Futurama/Oblongs

Conan at 12:30? Okay... I think they are trying to kill the show so they can tell FUNi to re-edit it for Toonami... I guess I'll watch it whenever its on but it feels like its hiding by putting it at such an odd time.
Double Inuyasha sounds nice at it will be at a more accessable time to the fanbase, but the "spawns of Satan" will moan over the loss of its weekday run for sure. You just can't keep those people happy...

...no.
That's just the earliest it can air.
Give up the conspiracy theories. Detective Conan runs a steady race rather than sprinting. With 350 episodes, the show can manage a lukewarm response. I'm positive it won't do as poorly as Lupin and there's no agenda to prepare it for Toonami because CN chooses what block a show will air on, not FUNi, and Conan just cannot air on Toonami and be the same show.

I like this schedule. About fricking time they decided to run the originals on weeknights. (Double ATHF = golden)
and at least Inuyasha on Saturday nights means that the episodes will last longer. Whichg means the inevitable "Y IZN'T INYASHA ON" onslaught of e-mails will be delayed. :)

True, true, it would need some changes to air on Toonami.
I thought it was FUNi's decision to move YYH, not just CN's.
Hmm... Blue Gender premiered at 12.5... Maybe WS just likes to air FUNi series at that particular time.

Why would Funi pull a "Yu Yu Hakusho"? The only thing that would come out of such a thing would be to piss off fans should there be a transition from Adult Swim to Toonami. I think Funi has judged that Adult Swim can be the only place for "Conan".

26, plus 4 episodes that were supposedly going to be released on video to make up for the fact that 4 of the episodes were clip shows. CN may well drop the clip episodes, though, leaving 22 or 26 if those fabled extra eps ever surface.

I think they're only going to premeire IY twice a week so they'll last longer. With all the waiting for new episodes and dubbing, this is probably smart; Viz video is real slow with their releases for some reason as mention in other threads.

Detective Conan Announced for Cartoon Network Broadcast
The Cartoon Network has announced its acquisition of television broadcast rights to FUNimation's English language adaptation of Detective Conan (http://www.funimation.com/conan.htm). With 7 theatrical films and over 350 episodes in Japan, the series is one of the highest rated and most watched anime series in Japan. Some fans may remember that several years ago Fox Television briefly considered licensing Detective Conan for American release, but decided that the series was too violent to air as a Saturday morning children's cartoon in America.
